About the Event


The Indian Concrete Institute, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and SIKA have teamed up to organize a detailed short course on waterproofing of concrete structures from the 17th to 19th of January 2013. This is a unique opportunity to get an updated view of the modern technologies and systems used in waterproofing. The topics covered will include treatment of joints, waterproofing of basements and tunnels, leakproofing of roofs, and the rehabilitation of basements and roofs. The course participants will get first-hand experience with waterproofing methods and can get their doubts clarified from leading experts in the field. The number of participants is limited so please hurry and register.

About the Indian Concrete Institute (ICI)


The Indian Concrete Institute, founded in 1982, is the premier organisation for concrete technologists, with captains of industry, cement manufacturers, leading consultants, academicians, educational institutions and research scientists as active members. The ICI has more than 10,000 members attached to 30 centers spread all over the country. The ICI encourages student participation and has 51 Students' Chapters with over 2000 members. The major objectives are: spread good construction practices amongst engineers & trade organisations, conduct conferences, workshops, seminars and training programs periodically. The ICI has international collaborations with Asian Concrete Federation, Singapore Concrete institute, Concrete Institute of Australia, etc. The ICI publishes a quarterly journal containing peer-reviewed technical papers, and gives awards for various achievements every year in its Annual Meetings.

About the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM), Chennai


The Indian Institute of Technology Madras is one among the foremost institutes of national importance in higher technological education and basic and applied research. The institute has 16 academic departments and several advanced research centers in various disciplines of engineering and pure science. The Building Technology & Construction Management (BTCM) division in the Department of Civil Engineering has a unique combination of 13 faculty members with expertise in structural engineering, materials engineering, construction technology & management, and building physics. The BTCM division has excellent laboratory facilities in the concrete technology and is arguably the best in the country in this area. The BTCM division receives excellent financial support from various government organizations and national and international leaders in construction industry.

Ulrich K. Weber
M.Sc. in Civil Engineering at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich Executive MBA at University Zurich | weber.ulrich@ae.sika.com Ulrich is looking back to a 35 year experience in the construction industry. Currently Mr Weber is based in Dubai and works for Sika as Business Development Manager in India, Middle East and Africa. Under his guidance as Corporate Head of Waterproofing, Sika became clear No 1 in this target market. He held various general management positions in manufacturing companies and with general contractors. He started his international career as project engineer and project manager in an international consulting engineering group. His foreign working experience covers numerous countries in Europe, USA, Africa, Middle East and Asia.

Arijit Basu
BSc. Chemistry Major and PG Diploma in Business Management of Calcutta University basu.arijit@in.sika.com Arijit is a "hands on" professional with more than 14 years of cross functional experience in the field of construction chemicals in Indian market. He has been instrumental in new technology introduction and concept selling in his entire career. His core competence in Waterproofing and track record in introducing and successfully establishing new technologies under competitive market scenario are well recognized. He started his career with Sika India and is currently Head of the Waterproofing and Roofing business.

Philippe Stoll
M.Sc. in Civil Engineering at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich stoll.philippe@in.sika.com Philippe started his career as a designer for underground structures with a consulting engineering in Switzerland. Working for seven years as a project manager, he was involved in large tunneling projects such as the Gotthard base tunnel, the longest railway tunnel in the world. After joining Sika on Corporate level in Switzerland as business development manager for waterproofing, he moved to India beginning of 2012. As Head of Specification, the interaction with consultants and definition of durable solutions, mostly focused on waterproofing of underground structures, is a major part of his daily business.
