Current Personal Philosophy of Classroom Management

Teacher's Presence and Conduct Educators should be alert and concentrated on the abilities of every pupil within their classroom. Educators should be constantly thinking about what they will say BEFORE they speak it to their pupils. Educators should be excellent listeners and able to adapt to any diverse situation within their classroom. Educators are required to guide and clarify what is expected of their pupils while offering advice and instruction upon request. Educators are expected to be mindful of their voice levels, appearances and body language in a classroom setting so that it remains calm, stern, and effective from a students standpoint.

Behavioral Goals of Students Pupils should always be on time for educational instruction. Pupils are expected to remain alert throughout classroom instruction. Pupils are expected to conduct themselves in a manner which is respectful to self, peers and educators. Pupils should be engaged in classroom instruction by participating in class activities and assignments by indulging in the lesson and asking question.

Teacher-Provided Classroom Conditions

Classroom environments should be inviting to its pupils. A classroom environment must feel real and be focused upon providing an atmosphere which compliments what is being taught there. If possible, classrooms should consist of technological equipment geared towards enhancing student learning (ex. computers, Promethean Boards).

All classroom environments should be clean, comfortable, colorful, creatively put together, helpful and simple to adjust to for the pupils within it.

Ensuring Appropriate Student Conduct Educators should have an effective discipline plan in place. Classroom rules should be displayed in the class so that they are visible and easy to read upon entering the room. Consistency with enforcing classroom rules and regulations so that it ensures that everyone is treated fairly and respectfully. Put effort into maintaining a solid connection and communication with the parental guardian of pupils, ensuring awareness of pupils behavior whether it is good or bad. Educators should ensure that their presence is known so that pupils feel comfortable engaging them with information and contact.

Behavior Intervention Strategies Educators should always remain in control of both themselves and any situation erupting within the classroom setting. Educators should be assertive and acceptable of fault when in the wrong. Educators should ALWAYS follow through on punishment and restriction due to bad behavior. Empty threats lead to unmanaged classrooms and continued behavioral problems. Educators should be straight forward about what it is they have to say and move on! Lingering on the topic causes more disruptions and unsolved issues.

Training Students in the Classroom Management System Educator should be sure to outline intended procedures for both behavior and academics in their classroom. Verbally explain, in depth, what one expects from their pupils in an appropriate manner so that the pupils have a clear understanding of what is expected of them. Limit the amount of rules placed upon pupils to be enforced. Too many rules are just like having no rules at all, students will disregard them all together. Make the rules and regulations of any classroom setting clear. They should be written down in plain sight so that everyone comprehends them and knows the penalty of not following suit.
