I would also like to express my highest gratitude to Dr.Kim Teng Siang and Mr.Pusparajan who helped me during this research. They had guided me to carry out my data collection and to complete the results for my action research.

ABSTRAK
Kajian tindakan ini dijalankan untuk menilai sejauh manakah kefahaman murid-murid tahun 4 Iltizam dalam penambahan pecahan wajar dengan penyebut yang berbeza dengan menggunakan jalur pecahan. Responden dalam kajian ini terdiri daripada 10 orang murid dari darjah 4 Iltizam yang memperoleh markah sederhana bagi mata pelajaran Matematik dalam ujian semester yang lalu. Data dikumpulkan melalui ujian pra dan ujian pasca .Hasil analisis data mendapati bahawa seramai 7 responden menunjukkan peningkatan markah yang ketara dalam ujian pasca berbanding ujian pra. Terdapat 2 responden yang mendapat markah rendah dalam ujian pasca berbanding ujian pasca. Terdapat seorang responden yang telah memperoleh markah penuh dengan menunjukkan jumlah peningkatan markah yang sangat tinggi. Hasil kajian tindakan ini menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman murid-murid dalam penambahan pecahan wajar dengan penyebut yang berbeza dengan menggunakan jalur pecahan.
ABSTRACT
The purpose of the study was to investigate the effectiveness of paper strips in addition of proper fractions with different denominators. The respondents consisted of 10 students from year four Iltizam who were the middle achievers of the class. The data for this study was collected using pre test, post test and observation. The results showed that most of the students its about 7 students achieved significantly higher marks in the posttest as compared to the pre test. The other three students had obtained low marks in post test compared to pre test. There was a respondent who obtained full marks, showing tremendous improvement in his performance in the post test. The results of the study shown that paper strips had improved pupils understanding in addition of proper fractions with different denominators.
