As a student at the University of Texas, I have developed exceptional and effective communication, organizational, and problem solving skills. I am a current member of the Society of Professional Journalists as well as The University Democrats. Through these organizations, I have become more engaged with campus traditions and community involvement.

LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNITY

I volunteered with students in a low income elementary school. I assisted with after school tutoring as well as various extracurricular activities, bringing about a positive change in students lives. I assisted with distributing hurricane evacuation procedures to low- income residents of the Rio Grande Valley. By doing this, I helped increase awareness and preparedness for residents in flood zones and other at risk locations. I distributed hand sanitizers and health information packets to people entering and leaving a supermarket during the H1N1 outbreak. I increased community awareness about disease prevention I was chosen to be a keynote speaker at the Annual San Benito Consolidated School District Luncheon. Class as well as to promote the expectations for the school year. I received a scholarship for the speech I wrote. I progressed to the state level at the DECCA Conference for Advertising Campaign Competition. I promoted a local band and implemented spoof product placement while also developing a budget and other administrative tasks.
