Organisational Structure and Control In view of our strategies, we proposed that Food Republic adopts the SBU form

of multidivisional structure as shown below:

Singapore headquarters will be responsible for making centralized decisions in key issues such as strategic planning, corporate finance as well as sales and marketing. Th Singapore headquarters will also oversee the different SBUs in the different regions to ensure that they adhere to the guidelines and branding of Food Republic. This will allow Food Republic to maintain its food quality as well as a consistent brand image. The various SBUs will be organized into different regions such as North America, South East Asia and East Asia. By organizing the various countries into their different regions, Food Republic would be able to pool their resources and knowledge collectively so as to achieve strategic competitive advantage. Economies of scale can also be attained by bulk purchases for the respective regions through standardized procurement processes. In addition, each SBUs will be responsible for the control and efficiency of their respective subsidaries in the respective regions. The SBU form of multidivisional structure is also chosen because it allows easier planning of activities. Respective SBU units at each country are given the full autonomy to operate their business unit, to fine-tune their strategies according to the local structure, which is complementary with our differentiation strategy as explained.

Strategic Leadership To ensure that the Canada Branch of Food Republic will be successful, an effective leader that is able to determine the strategic vision, anticipate and resolve challenges, empower employees and uphold ethical practices is needed. Determine Strategic Direction A clear strategic direction is essential for a company to be successful. To be effective, the management of Food Republic needs to understand its vision, mission and strategic direction and convey these in a clear and consistent manner to the various stakeholders. Establish Balanced Organizational Controls An effective leader is one that is able to be firm when necessary and implement controls that will ensure that Food Republic achieve its stated competitive advantage. Such controls will be mentioned in greater detail under section XXX(the controls and bsc section). Manage Food Republics Resource Portfolio It is vital for Food Republics management to manage its resources effectively. The allocation of resources is important to ensure the quality and service of the various SBUs of the Food Republic in the region. Social capital of Food Republic, in terms of their service staff and chefs, can be developed with good leadership. It is important to provide training and development courses to build an effective and skillful workforce. The management of food republic should also recognize that investing in building relationships with their employees and external stakeholders such as supplies would enable them to create long lasting value for customers and the company. Sustain an Effective Organizational Culture An organizational culture conveys the beliefs and ideas of the goals that need to be pursued by and the appropriate standards of behaviour the members of the organization utilize to attain their respective organizational goals. Moreover, the management needs to recognize the abilities of his employees and trust that they will perform their tasks well. In doing so, it will motivate their employees to work harder and be more passionate in their work. Since this is the first time Food Republic, an Asian organisation, is entering the North American market, the management needs to be aware that some cultural differences may exist and adapt the various organisational policies accordingly. Emphasize on Ethical Practices and Social Responsibility The long-term success of a brand hinges critically on its reputation and credibility in the market. Hence, the management at Food Republic needs to be honest, fair and firm in order to conduct ethical practices and maintain its credibility. In addition, Food Republic could incorporate ethical practices and social responsibility in its daily dealings by adopting Corporate Social Responsible practices. For instance, Food Republic could source its ingredients from reliable manufacturers and opt for fair

trade products for its higher-end ingredients.
