Teachers Day Celebration 2012

On the 18th of May 2012, Sri Utama held their annual teachers day celebration as a reminder to all students to appreciate the contributions of their beloved teachers. Before the event began, all students from both Primary and Secondary assembled at the school field for a briefing. Then, the students were seated at Patio C while the teachers gathered for their procession to enter the arena. The student emcees for the day were Raja Nur Syazwina and Muhd Amirul Hafidz. At 8.15am, the event finally began. The VIPs and teachers were ushered in by a group of Kompang players and the entire Prefectural Board. Puan Jamalliah Rahmat, School Principal, gave a speech in conjunction of this very joyous occasion. Next, the emcees invited all the teachers on stage to say their pledge and sing Kami Guru Malaysia led by Puan Rosemiah Mohamed. Performances by the Kindergarten, Primary & Secondary students managed to entertain our teachers. There were Hip Hop and Bollywood performances. During some of which, these students went off stage to call upon some teachers to dance along with them. Soon after, it was the teachers turn to entertain the students through a series of games. There were six games in total made for the 54 teachers. These games included Cake Eating, Banana Eating, Picking Sweets in Flour, Musical Chairs, Keropok Eating and last but not least, Balloon Blowing. The competition among the teachers heated up rather quickly as they all did not want to disappoint their students; who were cheering loudly and giving their teachers support. The honourable guests were invited on stage to hand out the prizes to the teachers who won in their respective games.

Finally, the first half of the days event came to an end. Everyone sang the National Anthem and School Song proudly. Students and teachers went back to their respective classes and got ready for the class party which was held from 10:30am to 12:20pm. Scrumptious food were served in each class and everyone probably went home gaining a pound or two. As the day came to an end, students took their time to snap photographs with their beloved teachers and handed them their gifts as tokens of appreciation.

In conclusion, we learnt that without teamwork from both teachers and students, this event would not have been successful. We must always appreciate the good deed someone does for us, be it as small as an ant or as big as the ocean. It was definitely an emotional and memorable day for all the students and the teacher body.
