Codes and Standards: Comply with the provisions of the following codes and standards, except as otherwise indicated or specified: AISI "Specification for the Design of Cold-Formed Steel Structural Members". ASCE 3 "Specification for the Design and Construction of Composite Slabs". AWS "Structural Welding Code". SDI "Design Manual for Floor Decks and Roof Decks". Qualifications of installers: For actual installation of the composite metal floor deck, use only personnel who are thoroughly trained and experienced in installation of the selected products and who are completely familiar with the requirements of this work. All work shall be in compliance with the latest editions of the codes and specifications and requirements of the "Steel Deck Institute", and "Code for Welding in Building Construction" of the American Welding Society. Provide composite floor deck units listed in UL's "Fire Resistance Directory", with each deck unit bearing the UL label and marking for the specific system detailed. Qualification of Field Welding: Qualify welding processes and welding operators in accordance with AWS "Standard Qualification Procedure".

1.02 SUBMITTALS: A. Shop Drawings: All sizes, locations and marking of decking units and gauge of metal. Sizes of holes to be cut in the shop. Types of end closures and fittings. All methods of securing, anchoring and attaching to structural members. All welds shall be indicated by A.W.S. "welding symbols" 2.0.

1.03 PRODUCT HANDLING A. Use all means necessary to protect the work of this section before, during and after installation and to protect the installed work and materials of all other trades. Store materials above ground and protect from corrosion.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.01 MATERIALS A. Detented Composite Deck: steel conforming to ASTM A653/A653M, galvanized per G60. Corrugation pitch shall be minimum of 12 inches and minimum depth shall be 2 inches. Approved manufacturer: Nucor Corp., Vulcraft Division or accepted equivalent.

Equivalent products of other manufacturers may be used subject to prior approval by the Architect. All other materials, not specifically described but required for a complete and proper installation of the work of this Section, shall be as selected by the Contractor subject to the approval of the Architect. Galvanizing Repair Paint: Prepare and repair surfaces in accordance with procedures specified in ASTM A 780. Fabricate all metal decking in strict conformance with the requirements of the Steel Deck Institute. Fabricate metal closure strips of not less than 0.045" min. (18 ga.). Form to provide tightfitting closure at open ends of cells or flutes and sides of decking.

PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.01 INSPECTION A. Carefully inspect the installed work of all other trades and verify that all such work is complete to the point where this installation may properly commence.

3.02 INSTALLATION A. Install the composite metal floor deck in strict accordance with all pertinent codes and regulation, the original design, the approved shop drawings, and the manufacturer's current recommendations. Units shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturers drawings and details. Each unit shall be placed on supporting steel and adjusted to final position before being permanently fastened. Each unit shall be brought to proper bearing on the supporting beams. The middle side lap shall be properly engaged with the female side lap. Units shall have a minimum bearing of 2 inches on steel supporting members and shall not have any end laps. Units shall be fastened to the steel framework at the ends of the units and intermediate supports with 3/4 inch diameter welds or equivalent, not to exceed 12 inches on center across width of unit. Welds shall penetrate all layers of deck and have good fusion to structural members. The side laps of adjacent units between supports shall be fastened by welding thru weld slots provided at intervals not exceeding 3'-0" cc, or button punched per manufacturer's specifications. Reinforcement at Openings: Reinforcement is not required for openings less than 6 inches square or round. Openings larger than 12 inches shall be reinforced as shown on the structural drawings. Cutting of units for openings or columns shall be done in a workmanlike fashion by power shears, gas torch, cold chisel or other approved means. Where possible, form

openings on the deck allowing the deck to remain in place until the concrete has cured. Remove the deck after the concrete has cured. Provide additional slab reinforcing around openings per typical details. G. Temporary Supports will not be required for multi-span conditions. One row of supports at center of span will be required for single span conditions with span greater than 8'-0" or where otherwise noted on drawings. Provide light gauge pour stop to form slab edge at perimeter of deck and at all shafts, openings, and penetrations through deck unless noted otherwise on drawings. Size pourstop per Steel Deck Institute recommendations. All phases of steel deck construction should be in keeping with good construction practice. Concentrated construction loads, impact loads, and concentrated traffic and storage areas require special care for the protection of the steel deck and to prevent exceeding the specified allowable stresses. Touch-Up Painting: After decking installation, wire brush and clean scarred areas. Touch up galvanized surfaces with galvanizing repair paint applied in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
