"Brain Health & Puzzles." (n.d.): n. pag. Effects Music Brain. Web. 01 Mar. 2013 This article to me was the most intriguing being that it looked at music in general and the effects on the brain but then it specifically looked at rap and Rock. It talked about the negative effects on the brain that rap can have and to me this is kind of scary since this is all I listen to and typically many other African Americans listen to since we not only celebrate our culture during Black History Month but also throughout the year. One can see this with all the different award ceremonies, interviews, concerts, tours, etc. Effects Music Brain was different in that it looked at rap from a physical perspective and more than it looked at it from a mental health perspective. "The Effects of Rap Music on Behavior." The Effects of Rap Music on Behavior (2009): n. pag. EHow. Demand Media, 08 Apr. 2009. Web. 28 Feb. 2013. I chose this article because I am truly curious about the effects of rap on human behavior both physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Although this article or blog does not address the effects of rap from a biblical perspective it does still address it from a physical, mental, emotional, as well as political standpoint. Politically it discusses how through Hip-Hop songs the youth as well as the public in general was lifted up from the idea and mentality that they cannot change the world or the government or the things around them. The article talks about how some of these songs inspired the public to take charge of their own life and a little inspiration no matter how big or small it is truly does the body wonders especially for one since it releases positive endorphins into the blood stream. It also addressed a mental stance stating that women are looked at in a derogative way called terms such as bitch or slut these names do not help raise the self-esteem or positively affect women in Hip-Hops health at all whether that is emotionally or mentally. This article goes on to talk about the positive and negatives effects of hip-hop on behavior. "Jesus and Jigga :: Where Hip Hop Meets Scripture." Interview by Eric J. Dolche. Jesus and Jigga :: Where Hip Hop Meets Scripture. N.p., n.d. Web. 01 Mar. 2013. <http://www.jesusandjigga.com/>. I absolutely love this website it was filled with many treasures from a blog to an autobiography to and biography to an interview! This website actually looks at Hip-Hop from a biblical perspective which I feel correlates with spiritual health in that some of society feels they are spiritually healthy while listening to Hip-Hop and some of society may feel they are not spiritually healthy if they listen to Hip-Hop. This website addresses the correlation of Hip-Hop and God. The author wrote a book entitled Jesus and Jigga Where Hip-Hop Meets Scripture to basically fight the argument of how Hip-Hop is not all terrible and evil but actually has it good sides not only because it quotes the bible in many songs both Christian and not Christian rap but also because it still at the end of the day glorifys God and all that he has done for us as a group an individually. I really loved the interview questions on the website since they addressed many questions society wants to argue about both his book and the dispute that Hip-Hop can never truly relate with the Bible and Jesus. Overall this article was both intriguing and informal.

"Q&A Categories." Does Hip Hop Music Have a Powerful Effect on People? N.p., n.d. Web. 01 Mar. 2013. This article captured my attention since it discussed the negative effects of Hip-Hop on a person individually and society as a whole. I do not agree with a lot that was on the page but I captivated by the arguments on the page since they did have some type of foundation although they were based on stereotypes and opinions. Bracale, Grace. Rep. N.p., n.d. Web. Powerpoint 1 Mar. 2013. This PowerPoint I found was about heartbeat rates and whether they sped up when listening to rap music which can be kind of dangerous even fatal or whether they slowed down when listening to rap music. The author even conducted a experiment and her results were quite surprising although other participants data supported her hypothesis. There were many articles similar to this one but none of them had research such as what can found on this website to back up their argument or theory. Spencer, Zoe. MURDA' MISOGYNY, AND MAYHEM. Lanham, Maryland: University Of America, 2011. Print. Pages 117-127 Chapter 6 Internalizing The Lie The Psycho-social Ramifications Of Keeping It Real The definition of Internalizing is integrate cultural values of a certain movie, book, or musical genre such as Hip-Hop. This chapter touching on the quote that has always been either Hip-Hops motto or foe since its birth in 70s. I love this book but especially this chapter because it touches on the oppression and exploitation of Hip-Hop and socialization and hip-hop and how they draw a parallel. Hip-Hop does socialize society in that all of its content influences the public from the lyrics of the songs whether they are false or true, or the apparel which now a days in Hip-Hop women wear less and guys wear more jewelry and other accessories, even the culture in general. This chapter touches on Hip-Hop culture and how it truly affects society and not only that but how it truly affects the health of society. Are we progressing as a whole or is Hip-Hop playing a part in hindering us to reach our full potential as a whole society.
