NETWORK DIRECTOR Job Description and Person Specification Accountable to: Hours: Salary: Based in XXX with some regional travel Accountable for: Job Summary The Network Director, in partnership with the governing body, is responsible for assuring the accomplishment of its Mission, aims and objectives, and accountability for ensuring the organisations legal responsibilities are met. The governing body delegates responsibility for management, day to day operations, development and coordination of the national network and its activities to the Network Director. He/ she has the authority to carry out these responsibilities, in accordance to the organisations policies and procedures. The Network Director has the responsibility for developing and implementing long term strategic plans in conjunction with the governing body including the project management of the transition of the organisation to full independence from hosting arrangements. The Network Director provides direction and enabling to the governing body as it carries out its governance functions. Key Responsibilities 1. Legal Compliance 1.1. 4. Operational and Administration 4.1. To take overall responsibility for the day to day management of the Network to ensure a smoothly functioning efficient organisation including the transition of the organisation to full independence from hosting arrangements. To ensure that a wide range of interests and diversity are reflected in all aspects of the Network particularly but not exclusively with regard to women, BME service users and groups who experience isolation. To ensure that comprehensive risk assessments are carried out and the Committee is informed of minimising and mitigating factors and actions to counter any risk. To develop and support new service developments and ensure that appropriate bid and tender preparations are made. To identify problems and opportunities and bring those which are most appropriate to the Committee to facilitate discussion and deliberation.

To ensure that monitoring and evaluation processes are effective and adhered to. To develop and facilitate systems for debriefing and lesson-learning as well as systematic feedback to ensure progress and improvement in the Networks activities. To provide information and contribute to monitoring reports to funders and commissioners according to service level agreements. To provide regular monitoring reports to the governing body.

To help the governing body articulate its own role and accountabilities and help evaluate performance To work with the Chair to enable the governing body to fulfil its governance functions and facilitate the optimum performance of the committee. With the Chair, to focus the committees attention on long term strategic issues.

To facilitate the integration of the XXX into the wider community of individual service users and groups as well as policy makers by using effective marketing and communication methods To liaise with and prepare reports for commissioners and funders as required To ensure that systems to broker and facilitate access between service users, policy makers, statutory and voluntary sector service providers are developed, implemented and facilitated To represent the Network internally and externally in a positive and professional manner

Network Director - Person Specification Experience 1. Substantial senior management in a voluntary sector organisation 2. Experience of strategic planning / business planning 3. Experience of financial management and financial responsibility 4. Experience of working with Management Committees; of governance of charities; and of dealing with the Charity Commission / Companies House 5. Experience of representation, public speaking and giving presentations 6. Experience of all aspects of project management including planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating 7. Experience of managing staff, setting objectives and monitoring performance 8. Personal experience of XXX Skills and Abilities 9. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, adaptable to a diverse variety of audiences including consensus building skills 10. Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills including the ability to work to tight deadlines 11. Ability to use a range of IT programmes and media 12.
