GENERAL NOTES FOR TNB SUBSTATION

GENERAL All dimensions indicated on the drawing are conceptual only actual positioning to be confirmed on site depending on the suitability of space available

FOUNDATION The foundation for the substation depends on the soil condition & in case where soil conditions are not favorable piling should be used. a qualified professional structural engineer to be engaged to design the foundation & r.c structure.

R.C FLOOR LOADING FACTOR The following loads are to be considered when designing the r.c floor for the substation. the r.c floor shall be designed as a suspended floor slab to cater for the loads as described below:

MASS/WEIGHT EQUIPMENT ROOM TYPE 5,000 kg transformer transformer room 1,000kg per panel vcb / rmu switchgear room (total of 6 panels)

Design criteria = 10kn/sq. m. The design loads shall be worked in accordance with code of practice cp. 3 chapter v part 2, 1972 and bs 6399 part 1, 1984 or any other latest edition to approved by t.n.b. typical size of equipment for a vcb switch room is 600mm wide, 1800mm long and 2300mm high for each panel.

TRANSFORMER ROOM The floor shall be designed for transformer load.

In cases where soil conditions are not favorable a plinth with piling shall be designed or additional cross beam are to be provided to cater for the load.

SWITCHGEAR ROOM The switchgear room is equipped with vcb or rmu.

Each equipment size is approximately 1800mm long, 600mm wide and 2300mm high having mass of 1,000kg.

Typical switch room can be accommodate 6 nos. of vcb/rmu panels.

R.C FLAT ROOF The substation roof is a r.c flat roof.

The design shall cater for a waterproof slab, casted with water proof concrete, and cement screed with waterproofing agent.

Design should cater for minimal shrinkage with anti cracking reinforcement. a proper water proofing treatment shall be applied on the r.c flat roof

WALLS All walls shall be constructed using wall-burnt red clay tricks laid with 1:3 cement sand mortar all perimeter walls are 230mm thick.

Partition wall between switch room and transformer room shall be 230mm thick and 2100mm height. wall shall be reinforced with exmet at every fourth course.

D.C.P (DAMP PROOF COURSE) 25.4mm or 1" thick 1:1 cement sand screed bedding shall be laid on the ground beam, upon drying followed with a bituminous felt laid with liquefied bitumen.

doors & windows Doors to be provided with door handles & locking brackets including all other accessories.

PAINTING All paintings are to be carried out using tnb corporate color scheme as indicated in drawing as well as in appendix a. when different types of painting are preferred by client / developers to harmonize with the environment, such color schemes are allowed and to be borne by the developer.

Source of supply is from the L.V. Board.

Lighting is of fluorescent type. lighting, portable fire extinguisher and emergency light are to be by developer.

The number required and positioning of these fittings within the substation are shown on drawings.

All switches & 13A SPN switch socket outlets to be mounted at 5ft (1500mm) above finished floor level.

Time switch to be spring reserve type.
