Vajradhara and was the treasured yidam (meditation deity) of Lord Jigten Sumgon, the founder of the Drikung Kagyu lineage. For practitioners of the Drikung Kagyu lineage, it is most important and very precious to have the good fortune to receive the empowerment of Chakramsavara. The reason we do this practice is to purify the habitual tendencies of samsara and to purify all obscurations. We are also purifying the imprints of the birth process. The lineage of this practice has been sustained uninterruptedly, utterly pure and without samaya breakage, and thus its blessings have not vanished. Whoever is able to receive the Chakrasamvara empowerment will receive the blessings of this immaculate and powerful lineage and should consider themselves extraordinarily fortunate.

that will be most important in the future for the regular practice of Vajrayana practitioners living in Western countries. Rinpoche said that for the longest time he has had the wish to offer this set of empowerments on one occasion, because for many disciples it is very difficult to travel long distances in order to receive each empowerment individually. Thus, owing to these auspicious circumstances, and inspired by the well-intended request of myself (Ven. Khenpo Samdrup) and Ven. Lama Abao, Rinpoche agreed to bestow the empowerments of these deities according to the wish of his disciples. This request to Rinpoche was on behalf of all Dharma friends, because to receive the empowerments of the Yidam deities most important for our regular practice from H.E. Garchen Rinpoche all on one occasion is an incredible fortune for us disciples. Once we have entered the doors of Dharma we must also engage in practice. Doing so, we must practice according to the common vehicle, according to karma, cause and effect; we must develop bodhichitta and practice deity yoga. Thus, in order to practice a Yidam deity, we must first receive the empowerment. In the best circumstance, receiving the empowerment from ones own root guru is of the greatest benefit, and H.E. Garchen Rinpoche is the root guru to most of us. I thus encourage you not to miss this opportunity, and please also invite your friends who might be interested in the Dharma or who are new Dharma students. These empowerments may be attended by anyone who wishes to do so, and there is no need to doubt as to whether it might be appropriate or permissible to receive them. GENERAL RETREAT INFORMATION:

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: There are many opportunities to volunteer during events such as these and we really encourage everyone to participate in this way! We always need help with housekeeping and cooking, maintaining the shrine and serving tea. Please contact us if you are interested in helping out. LOCATION & DIRECTIONS : The retreat will be held at Gar Drolma Buddhist Center at 1329 Creighton Avenue, Dayton Ohio 45420. CHILDREN: Children are welcome at these events if accompanied by an adult. PARKING: Gar Drolma is located in a quiet, old city neighborhood with narrow streets. There is no parking lot. It may be necessary for individuals to park down the street or around the block. We do want to be good neighbors, so please allow room for the people in front and back of you to get out when you park. We are able to provide 3 parking spaces in the front of the building for less able attendees. Please tell us in advance if you need a special parking space. If you are able to fold your side mirror in we suggest you do so. AIRPORTS: The Dayton International Airport (DAY) is the nearest airport; it is approximately 30 minutes from the center. The Columbus airport (CMH) is about 1.5 hours from Gar Drolma. The Cincinnati airport (CVG) is actually located in Kentucky - just over the river. The Cincinnati airport is also about 1.5 hours from the center. All three of these airports are international airports.

His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche is the founder of Gar Drolma Buddhist Center. Rinpoche is a Drikung Kagyu lama who was known in the thirteenth century as the Siddha Gar Chodingpa, a heart disciple of Kyobpa Jigten Sumgon, founder of the Drikung Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. In ancient India, he had incarnated as Mahasiddha Aryadeva, the lotus-born disciple of the great Nagarjuna and in the seventh century he was known as Lonpo Gar, the minister of the Tibetan Dharma King Songsten Gampo. In this incarnation Garchen Rinpoche is deeply beloved by Buddhist practitioners around the world. In this age of strife, he has taken upon himself the responsibility of the pure transmission of loving kindness, compassion and wisdom.
