A. Summary of the Lesson Plan: This Civics lesson plan is designed to test 5th grade students on The Political Process Unit. This lesson uses resources from the Internet. B. Target Population: Grade Level: 5th Grade Skill Level: Students at all learning levels. Grouping: Whole class discussion, group work, group assessment C. Materials: Pencils Paper Privacy folders Unit Tests

D. Objectives: o NV State Social Studies Standards o C15.5.1- Explain the qualities of a leadership C.15.5.2 Name the two major political parties C.15.5.3- Give example of national interest groups. C.15.5.4- Compare sources of information people use to form an opinion C.15.5.5- Define propaganda and give examples.

Student-Friendly Standards Students will be able to explain the qualities that make a leader Students will be able to identify the two major political parties. Students will be able to give examples of national interest groups. Students will identify and compare sources people use to form an opinion. Students will be able to define propaganda and give examples of it.

E. Procedure: 1. First I will explain to the class we are taking the unit test. They need to clear their desks put up their privacy folders and get out a pencil. When they are finished they are to turn their test into the basket and read quietly until everyone is finished.

2. The teacher will then pass out the test and walk around the classroom while students are taking the test. 3. CLOSURE: Once everyone is finished they will have to turn their tests in, put away their privacy folders and be ready to move onto the next subject. F. Assessment: What will you use to measure student understanding? I will measure understanding by grading the unit tests. Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson. I will know whether the students understand the concepts of this lesson by grading their tests and seeing which concepts they understood and which ones they didnt. G. Reflection: 1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you to teach? I think the easiest part will be explaining that the students are going to take a test and need to get out the materials to do so. 2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach? I think the most challenging part will be teaching the students to keep quiet until everyone is finished with their tests. 3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson? I will extend this lesson by giving going back and re-teaching any concepts that were completely missed by the class. 4. What will you do for students who dont grasp the concepts? If students do not grasp the concepts I will work with them more closely during the test and help them as they go. 5. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change? I may need to make the test harder or easier depending on how the students do. 6. When you were writing this lesson plan, what was the most difficult part? The most difficult part of writing this lesson was typing up the unit test. Resources:
