CHAPTER I Introduction

1.1.

The background of the study English is practised in a variety of field of study, such as education,

management, and sport. We have known what is called general english and English for specific purpose. As we know that our educational system has adopted a new approach, methods, techniques, and materials. English is a foreign language in our country, ha an important for made a communication within the relationship together with the people in other country. As we know in English language learning has four skill, listening, speaking, reading and writing. And also English language learning has three element or component, pronoun, vocabulary, and grammar. Quotations are fantastic tools in writing essays. We can learn some new words or sentences from this, and it not impossible for us to learn about how to say that words with the great pronounce, this tools can increase the vocabulary and know how the grammar used.

1.2.

The problem statement For the reason the writer formulate the problems, and wants to answer as

follows: 1. Do the methods used by the quotes can increase the language components? 2. Do the materials in the quotes comply with the students?

1.3.

The purpose of the study The purposes of the study are:

1. To analyzed the quotes word in language elements, 2. To compare how the quotes words can influence the vocabulary and grammar for the students.

1.4.

Scope and Delimitation The scope of this study is to analyze the effect of learning quotes word to

improving language Element in students grade 3rd English education department of STKIP. The study will include their motivatin and confidence, they can feel how

to pronounce the right sound of quotes, the emotional of quotes can make them understand the grammar in quotes and how to use the quotes in the right situation. It is focused on the the students competence in learning element . English

1.5.

The significance of the study The researches on the quotes word for the language elements, has the

following benefit: 1. As a researcher, the writer gets some information about vocabulary in the quotes word, 2. For the English teacher, the study can help them comprehend and practice at the English department especially and in society too, 3. The students at the same time will comprehend and get ability in how to pronounce quotes, know the grammar from quotes, and speaking practice.

1.6.

The Research Method The study is based on qualitative approach. When a body of literature is

primarily qualitative, it may be necessary to conduct a qualitative review,. This section presents two methods for conducting qualitative literature reviews. The first method was first put forth by Ogawa and Malen (1991). The second method, which I put forth, borrows the method of phenomenological research and applies it to conducting a literature review. Another useful resource for conducting qualitative literature reviews, not described here, is Noblit and Hare (1988)

1.7.

The assumption of the study The writer assumes that using English quotes words can increase the new

words for the students and give some new spirit to more learn about the English language. Give a motivation to express the quotes in some situation good sound of word or pronounciation, increase the competence of vocabulary and grammar.

CHAPTER II Literature Review

2.1.

Definition of Term A quotation or quote is the repetition of one expression as part of another one, particularly when the quoted expression is well-known or explicitly attributed by citation to its original source, and it is indicated by (punctuated with) quotation marks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quotes). This chapter represents the review on related literature and studies regarding topic about the effect of quotes to improve the English Element. Knowing a foreign language a part from human mother tongue represents a huge advantage that can distinguish from the crowd. But knowing foreign languages especially eglish, the international language is clearly make differentiates human from all the rest, it can reflecting a good master of language skills and communication. Furthermore with knowing one part of English, quotes can bring inspiriting for someone who express it. Here some review about quotes why quotes can improve the ability of Language Element. Langguage Element consist of sound or pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar (English language testing, Rebecca M valette). Human can not make some communication if there is no matter to disscuss, quotes is one way to make human especially student use the words to express their emotional for some condition in communication. Communication is the way in which students incorporate new information into their exiting knowledge. While communication involves several process happen, there was the writer call, The English Element which have three elements, there was pronounciation element, vocabulary element, and grammatical Element. Thus, this chapter propose that quotes can improve the English Element.

2.2.

Therminology Beside improve the pronounciation element, learning quotes can added many vocabulary in the students brain, and develop this element. Therefor,
Vocabulary development refers to the knowledge of stored information

about the meanings and pronunciations of words necessary for communication (Williams and Christie (1976). Vocabulary development is important for communication in that when a student comes to a word and sounds it out. If a student does not know the meaning of the word, there is no way to check if the word fits, or to make meaning from the sentence. Vocabulary development is also a primary component of english.

2.3.

Operational definition After learning quotes the student can apply the study like express some quotes and make a sosialitation with their friend and they can speak naturally depend the condition which requires them to mention some quotes, so the study correlated with the statement of Helena Fraser about natural speaking teaching naturally encourages the use of naturalistic exercises and practice of real communicative situations. Classes must be learnercentred in the sense that learners should be able to practise speech that will be directly useful to them in their real lives (Helen Fraser (Dr),Senior Lecturer in Linguistics,School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics-University of New England) In practice naturally student was demanded to speak spontaneously within knew the structural of grammatical, it can improve the ability of the third English elements, grammar mastery. The writer conclude that learning quotes can improve the Language Element, in element of pronounciation, element of vocabulary and increase the element of grammar.
