1Quest ~ Solomons

Snap Judgments

Who needs Judge Judy? This seems like a pretty

cut and dry case to me... ~ K. Solomon This group piece requires you to have brought in sources from the current project. If you have none, find others who have no sources, or were absent, and finish this task outside of class. When you have a partner, trade sources and fill out the following ( and YOU MUST FILL OUT BOTH PARTS OF EACH ITEM!), please and thank you: Your Name: Brooke Cohn Describe your ideal source for this project: A source that gives pros and cons on the subject, showing not just one opinion but the other side as well. Also one that is very carefully researched and gives a broad amount of information. Each source is clearly related or relevant to the topic stated above? If yes, state which is best; if no, state which arent: Yes, I think the Kids Health article was related to the topic the most because it really stated the most facts. Each source is clearly owned (identify writer/editor/sponsor)? If yes, which is most clearly owned; if no, state which arent: Yes, the most clearly owned would probably be the article from Monmouth University, by Rachel Gramuglia. Each sources owner/sponsor has clear credentials? If yes, state the best example of this; if no, state which dont: Yes, The best example would probably also be the article written from Monmouth University. Each source is fairly recent? If yes, which is most recent; if no, state which is oldest: Yes, the Detroit Bureau article was published in April of 2013. Each source is viable as academic content (it is great stuff)? If yes, which is strongest; if no, state which arent/why: Yes, probably the PBS Kids article because it is a widely known education broadcast company. Which source has the highest, overall quality? Why? I would say the Quinnipiac Chronicle article had the best overall quality because it gave a story of someones interaction with peer pressure in college. Which source has the weakest, overall quality? Why? I believe the Web MD article was the weakest because it had a lot of information the other articles had, and not enough new information. At least one source has a clearly differing viewpoint/perspective from the others? Which one? How shown so? None really have a differing viewpoint; they all state the same opinion in the fact that peer pressure can be negative or positive. Overall, you consider these sources to be of Poor, Average, Good, Excellent, or Superior Quality? Why? I consider these sources to be excellent, they could always have more information, but they gave me enough research to do my project, and were all extremely informative. I think, solely on these sources, I should earn a grade of, because.... An A, because I think the sources I picked had a good variety of information and were reliable sources.
