Dear Parents/Carers
Isnt this period of good weather such a lovely relief after what seemed like an eternal winter? During this past week it has been lovely to see the children enjoying picnic lunches and using the whole of our lovely school grounds for their learning. We have been fortunate to enjoy the expertise of a number of visitors over the last couple of weeks. First The Pond Man who brought in a number of animals found in or near pond habitats. His knowledge of the animals and their living environment was tremendous. Both the children and staff thoroughly enjoyed the visit. This week we had a visit by the RAF dog handlers and their dogs. You will find a write up by Mrs Fox inside the newsletter. Thank you to the parents who attended the information evening on Monday night. I hope you found it of use and feel more confident to be able to help with some of the maths homework. If you have any ideas for topics of future parents evenings please dont hesitate to let me know. Id just like to congratulate Mrs Clements and Mrs Watt on the excellent work they are doing in Cherry class. We had a visit from the Local Authority Early Years Advisor who was delighted by the work being carried out in that class, confirming what we already knew! Given that the practice was so good she asked if she could signpost other Early Years practitioners to visit the school and observe the great work being carried out. I wish you a lovely bank holiday; lets hope the weather holds up!

RAF POLICE DOG VISIT TO ST CHRISTOPHERS On Tuesday we had a very interesting and entertaining visit from the RAF Police. This came about after Yolanda Garrad wrote to them asking whether a visit would be possible; she is interested in pursuing a career as a Police Dog Handler (it's never too soon to consider an ambition) and thought a display from the dogs and their handlers would be interesting. Sergeant Hicks and Rachel, a Corporal in the RAF, brought Tack (a drug sniffer labrador) and Delta (a bomb sniffer labrador) to meet the children, give a display and have an opportunity to answer questions. Yolanda learned how best to pursue a career in this field and was delighted to share the experience with the school. We are very grateful to Karl, Rachel and of course Tack and Delta, for giving up their time and visiting us. We would also like to wish them all the very best and hope they all keep safe when carrying out the often dangerous jobs they undertake. Mrs Fox Oak Class
