COMPANY RESEARCH
Company Name and ownership: Chloe, owned by luxury goods conglomerate Richemont Group - Short History on the company: Chloe was founded in 1952 by Gaby Aghion, an Egyptian-born parisienne. She didnt like the strict stiff clothing of the 1950s so she created body conscious clothes using fine fabrics and called them luxy ready-to-wear. The first Chloe collection was shown in 1956. The name Chloe originated from simply the liking Gaby had towards it. She liked it for its warm, feminine appeal perfectly in synch with the new mood of Paris: youthful and modern in deisgn, ad slightly audacious in spirit. In 1966 Karl Lagerfeld became the head designer for Chloe and turned it into one of the most iconic brands in the 70s. In 1997 Stella McCartney reinvented Chloe with a more romantic edge.
