My Proposal

1. For this piece of work, I have chosen to do metamorphosis. The reason I have chosen this as my theme, is because it goes well with nature, which is also an artistic theme that has a lot of changes, such as; buds to flowers, animal and human developments, change of seasons, change of day and time, etc. The theme I am most interested in right now is the change of seasons. This is because it is a repetitive change that has been happening and known since Earth was created. It is also a great change or art. 2. The ideas I have thought about for natural metamorphosis are; panoramic, using different types of media for each section of each season; a photo for spring, as this will be the time I take the picture, a sketch for summer, watercolours for autumn and pastels for winter. If the colours are visible, then they will be the same colours that represent the season. My second idea was to get an image of a tree and separate it into four sections and in each section will have each of the seasons. My third choice is an image of scenery, separated in half with one season changing to the next. It will most likely be autumn changing to winter, as it is a big change in the season and is very noticeable. For my final chosen idea, I have planned to have one scenery for each different season. These four ideas are what I picked from my initial ideas. The other ideas I created, however, will not be used are; a close up of an image in each season, different sceneries in the same season and finally, was my original idea of one scenery in different seasons, using different medias. 3. The artist research I have looked at for natural metamorphosis, were; Peter Doig, Georgia OKeeffe, Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet. Peter Doig was a great influence, as his work showed a great combination of nature and paintings. I like how the paint drizzles down the image, making it look like a natural effect. Georgia OKeeffe has inspired me, because her work is a selection of colours and shapes, used to create a natural image, such as a flower. I have also looked at Van Gogh, because his natural brushstrokes had inspired me, as it gives a great natural effect. Claude Monet inspired me, because of his natural effects and because he had also created a piece, including the change of seasons. 4. The type of medias and techniques that I have investigated go very well with nature. This includes: Photography Sketches Watercolours Soft/oil pastels Charcoal Colouring pencils Acrylic paints Collages Blending Shading Observational drawings Primary and secondary research The reason I have used these types of medias and techniques, is because they have a great natural effect that makes the work look artistic and realistic. It has also helped me figure which types of medias I will most likely be using for my final piece of work, as well as the techniques and it has also helped to make the work more clearer to understand the image.

5. For the next few weeks, I will probably continue using the same medias and techniques I have already used, mostly so my work continues to look realistic and artistic for this project. I will also try different medias and techniques, such as; pen and ink, chalk, oil paints, mono printing and lino printing. The reason I will most likely use these, is because they will give it a natural effect and because I have yet to try some of these. They will also help me improve my work by using these type of medias and techniques and because if I use these, then it shows that I have done a variety of different medias and techniques to make my work more interesting. 6. For my final, metamorphosis idea, I have chosen the panoramic or the four image tree. The reason I have chosen to do the panoramic, it because it will work extremely well with the change of season, as both the image and the seasons are changing, which makes the effect more interesting and realistic. It makes it more interesting, because when people see this image, they see different parts of the same scenery as one image that fits in place, with a natural effect of each season. I will take the photo of the panoramic on my phone and because it will be done in the spring, then I will be using it for that section. Then, I will use the other images, connecting them together, using different medias. For the four image tree, I will dra w an image of a tree and separate it into four sections. Using different medias, I will draw different themes for each season for each section of the tree. I am hoping that either of these images will have a great natural effect. Making it look realistic and I am hoping that people will find it interesting to look at.
