I am writing to apply for work experience at

I am currently a trainee journalist studying at Leeds Metropolitan University. This has given me extensive knowledge in media law, shorthand, print and public affairs to name a few, all of which have been taught to me under NCTJ recommendations. I believe my time at university has perfected my writing skills and enabled me to understand what is needed to be a journalist, whilst also enriching my passion for the profession.

I am originally from Sheffield and have lived there all my life so I have an extensive knowledge on the area and in particular its music scene. I have always loved music and going to gigs and festivals; I have turned my hand to writing reviews, profiles and interviews with bands and this is where my journalistic passion lies.

I would be ideal for Exposed as its a magazine that I always pick up when Im in town, and read it regularly online when Im in Leeds to keep up with whats going on at home! I have had a number of articles published on my university paper The Met Onlines website, including one which was featured on the homepage. I have also published articles for Leeds Music Scene magazine.

My course at University has enabled me to develop many skills that I didnt have chance to do previously that has allowed me to become a well-rounded journalist. I have secured and held first-hand interviews, attended courts and council meetings, learnt and practised shorthand, done vox-pops, put together a radio package using Audacity, created a news broadcast and information video using Final Cut Pro and worked to deadlines.

I believe all of this experience combined puts me in good stead for the placement at

Exposed and I am keen to start my experience in the workplace!
