ISYS 871 Team Project Requirements

Spring 2013

Project teams: Students are to form project teams of 5. Each project team is to select a team name and notify me of the team name and the names of the students in the team. Project requirement: Each project team is to select a business, which can be a real business or a fictitious one, but it must be a realistic business. Each team is to develop an e-commerce plan for that business and implement that plan in a web-based, transactional e-commerce site using PrestaShop. The ecommerce plan and site should be appropriate for the business. Each team must turn in a written report in a 3-ring binder and give an oral presentation. For due dates, see deadlines at end of this document. Grades All members of the team will initially receive the same grade on the project. All members of the team are expected to participate approximately equally on the project. Peer evaluations of team members may be performed if it becomes apparent that not all members of a team participated equally. In this case, individual project grades may be adjusted based on the peer evaluation. Report outline Each team's final report should have the following sections. Be sure to incorporate concepts from the course in your report, as this will be part of the evaluation. All parts of the report should be computer generated including all diagrams. All explanations should be double-spaced. 1. Business Describe the business including the following: Products or services: What are the products or services of the business? Customers: Who are the customers? Processes: How does the business provide its products or services to its customers? In other words, what are the business processes, or how will the business function or operate? Supply chain: What is the businesss supply chain? Where does the business get the products it sells or the services it provides? Who are the businesses suppliers or partners? Personnel resources: What are the personnel resources required of the business? How is the business organized? E-commerce: Why is e-commerce needed by or appropriate for the business? How will ecommerce impact the businesss operations, management, and/or competitive advantage? 2. E-commerce business model Describe the business model or models used for e-commerce in the business. Do not just give the business models name; explain what the model is. Why is this business model appropriate for e-commerce for the business?

3. Revenue model Describe the revenue model or models used with e-commerce for the business. Do not just give the revenue models name; explain what the model is. Why is this revenue model appropriate for e-commerce for the business? 4. E-commerce requirements Describe the functional requirements for the e-commerce system in general terms. Objective: What is the objective of the system? What will the e-commerce system do for the business? Functions: What functions or capabilities will the e-commerce system provide? What functions or capabilities could be added to the system in the future? You might refer to the eight function model. Payment: How will payment be handled in the system? Why is this payment system appropriate for e-commerce for this business? How will the system handle security issues with this method of payment? Order fulfillment: How will customer orders be fulfilled with the system? Why did you choose this method? Customer relationship management: How will customer relationships be handled with the system? 5. E-commerce site design Give a site map showing the main pages in the system and how they relate. This is not the site map generated by PrestaShop. This is the full site map showing all the pages and how they relate to each other. Briefly describe the purpose of each page in the system. Note that this is not the implementation. The design says what you are going to include in the implementation and how it is going to be organized. It is the plan for implementation but not the implementation itself. You may include pages in the site map that you do not implement in Prestashop but that you would like to implement if you could. If this is the case, indicate clearly that the pages are not implemented. 6. E-commerce site implementation Give the url of the site. Explain any problems or limitations you had implementing the site. Provide screen captures of each page with a brief written explanation of what each page does. Provide an explanation of how the user uses the system (e.g., how to place an order, how to pay, etc.). Include sample data that I can use to test the site. 7. Testing Describe the testing procedure for the site. What criteria did you use to evaluate the site? What problems did you find when testing the site? List any known problems with the site. (A problem with the site is not necessarily a negative as long as you explain it. It is a negative, however, if you do not list a problem and I find it.) Be sure to test the site with different browsers. Identify the browsers you tested the site with and any problems you had with different browsers.
