1. Objectives:
The project is designed to help students develop practical ability and working knowledge of practical tools / techniques to solve real life problems related to the industry, academic institutions and research in the field of computer science or information technology. Each student needs to take up this project as an individual. Projects could be based on Application Development Technologies learnt in previous and or present semesters. As part of the project each student will have to prepare proper documentation consisting of Software Requirements Specification (SRS), Modeling Techniques, Development Strategies and Implementation Strategies. The project work will be presented by students using Power Point Presentation Tool to the panel of Examiners.

2. Hardware Requirements (Minimum):

Pentium-IV processor 1GB RAM 40GB Hard Disk CD ROM : 52X speed Sound Card: 16 or 32 bits Graphics card Any other required Interfaces

3. Software Requirements:
RDBMS / Back end Tools: MySQL , Oracle,

Languages: C, Java, C# and .Net Internet Technologies: TCP/IP, FTP, Telnet, SMTP, Java, RMI, CORBA, Swing, JSP, Servlets

Operating Systems: Windows 2000 / ME / NT / XP / Vista, UNIX, Linux ,RTOS

4. Broad Area of Applications

Database Management Systems Computer Communication and Networking Wireless Communication Algorithms Operating Systems Software Engineering Data structures Multimedia Embedded systems Network Security Web technology

5. Guidelines for Project

Students must submit his/her project synopsis to the respective centre along with his / her name & number, centre code & address etc., and get it approved by them. Projects must be done individually. Must submit the final report within the stipulated time in the form of soft and hard copy to the study centre. The University will evaluate projects of Final Semester MSc-IT by conducting Project Examination through internal & external examiner. Students must demonstrate their project at their study centre to the internal & external examiner on the date specified by the university. The date will be mentioned in the university term-end examination time table. Two sets of soft and hard copy must be submitted to the centres by the students along with the source code and executable file. The same must be submitted to the center two week before the date of final semester term-end examination.

Project Development or Implementation and Testing Phase

Project Report (Documentation)

Project Development

The project may be developed in following phases Phase 1: Identification phase The students can identify a New Project are it may the extension of the Miniproject. In this Phase students should identify the hardware and software requirement for the Project. Synopsis of Project Synopsis of project must contain following information: 1. Title of the project 2. Objective 3. Abstract 4. Resources required.

Phase 2: Requirement Analysis and Design Phase This phase may involve preparing the Requirement specification, performing system analysis, preparing the data and control flows and performing the design of the project. Students must strictly implement the various stages of software development process. Implement the various activities that are performed during the Requirements phase and support it with proper outputs and the necessary graphical representations like Data Flow Diagrams D.F.D, E-R diagrams, Flow charts. Indicate the technology used and substantiate it with brief explanations. Properly document the detailed design specifications and methods adopted during Design phase. 5

Phase 3: Implementation and Testing This phase may involve actual development of the Project: Implementation of the project with the software used. Adopt an appropriate testing procedure for your project. Prepare all necessary documentation to support all the work done in your project. Phase 4: Project Report: Project Report must contain following information: 1. The length of the report may be about 60 pages, with 1.5 line spacing, 1.25 inches margin on either side, printed on A4 size papers. Ten percent variation on either side is permissible. 2. Contents of project report are: A. Title Page B. Certificate C. Declaration D. Acknowledgement E. Abstract F. Contents G. Introduction H. Requirement analysis I. Design J. implementation K. Testing L. Application M. Conclusion N. Bibliography

6. Evaluation
Methodology of Conduct of Project The course titled Project bearing the course code MIT404 has 8 credits weight and the project has to be completed for duration of 240 Hours.
