From the desk of Vice Chancellor

Dear Students, Expressing joy over the rapid expansion and consistent growth of the Central University of Rajasthan which was established on 3rd March 2009 by an Act of Parliament, I would like to give you very warm welcome to the Central University of Rajasthan, the premiere institution of higher studies. Taking pride in being the newly established Central University which is growing at a very fast pace, I would like to share that in the beginning, a unique exercise of using the blog for formulation of the academic and administrative frame work of the newly founded Central University of Rajasthan was done. The University, on the basis of the feedback and views received from the stake holders, academicians and eminent experts on the Concept Paper on Strategic Development of Central University of Rajasthan, placed on the blog http://mmsalunkhe.wordpress.com drafted the roadmap for the University. The academic programmes including the vision, mission and goals of the university were designed on the basis of comments received on the blog. Keeping in mind the views given by the stake holders and the eminent experts of different fields, the university has adopted the theme of sustainable development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. All the programmes are designed in such a manner that they leads to the implementation of the theme which is EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT as sustainable development strategies give nation around the world the ability to achieve positive economic and social development without excess environmental degradation, in a way that protects the rights and opportunities of coming generations. All the courses across disciplines are structured with special emphasis on thrust areas like green chemistry, sustainable architecture, desert studies, enviroeconomics, community development, artificial intelligence etc. Meeting the high academic standards and keeping the pace of its unabated growth, the University is presently running 20 PG pogrammes under 10 schools with Ph.D. in all programmes except Architecture. The university is all set to start Integrated M. Sc. B. Ed Programmes after 10+2 in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Economics and Integrated M. Sc. Programme in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, Computer Science and Statistics in the upcoming academic session. We have signed MoUs with various prestigious Indian organizations and foreign universities. The structure of our courses is primarily learner-centric and they offer great flexibility whereby the students have more choices to opt for disciplines of their liking and potential. The University aims at emerging as the leading centre of comprehensive learning at international level. Most of the courses offered at our University are interdisciplinary and they have been streamlined to meet the emerging demands both in the public and the private sector. All the academic programmes are unique in nature, developed by eminent experts invited from all over the country and offer a high job potential which have resulted in optimum summer internship and final placement of the students in prestigious institutions and organizations.

By means of state-of-the-art technology enabled teaching methodology; students are given interactive lectures, tutorials, assignments, case studies, quiz, seminars and tea with guests as the regular feature of every department. The University offers choice based credit system with credit transfer feature and several students opted papers from other departments as an elective and audit-course. There is continuous evaluation system and bridge courses are provided to students for better understanding of the course at the beginning of the session. 1GBPS high speed internet connectivity is available with Wi-Fi connection throughout the campus. With support from Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the University has developed a Centre for Technology Incubation and Development of Entrepreneurs with the mission to benefit the students and outside community to be an Entrepreneur themselves rather than a job seeker. The huge campus of the University which is spread over 518+ acres of land presently has four well constructed buildings segmented as academic and administrative blocks and separate hostel for boys and girls. The new construction offers state of the art infrastructure including smart classrooms, good library and access to a large number of research resources through internet, well furnished accommodation, in-house mess, canteen, sports and gym facilities to the students. The development of infrastructure is well under way with fast pace ongoing construction. The university aspires to have eco friendly campus with energy efficient buildings. It is already registered under GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment), the National Rating System of India and is following the GRIHA guidelines. I firmly believe that Central University of Rajasthan will be amongst the top Universities of the country in the times to come and while realizing the mandates of value, equity and access, in higher education shall fulfill the noble mission of imparting quality education. The University
The Central University of Rajasthan has been established by anAct of Parliament, 2009, published in the Gazette of India on 20th March, 2009 as a new Central University. The University is fully funded by the Government of India.

Vision

The Central University of Rajasthan aspires to be one of Indias most dynamic and vibrant universities, responsive to the changing global trends, providing unparalleled educational opportunities for the learner community especially for those coming from the lower socio- economic strata of society seeking quality education. Academic Programmes Ph. D. Programmes

The University offers PhD programmes in all the departments. The University shall decide, on an annual basis, the maximum number of candidates to be admitted to the programme, which shall be announced through notification and on the website. The candidates with at least 55% marks, in aggregate, in their Masters Degree in the subject concerned / allied / cognate subjects shall appear for a written test conducted by the University to be followed by an interview to be conducted by the concerned Department. After assessing the appropriateness of the subject in which the candidate has a masters degree to the field of proposed study, the candidates will be selected according to the merit. Details regarding the admissions to PhD programme and rules related to the award of degree are available in University Ordinance No. 9

Admission Procedure
Admission to all programmes will be based on common entrance examination, CUCET-2013, which will be conducted at various centers all over India. Online and offline Application for the entrance test and detailed information regarding CUCET-2013 will be available on the website www.cucet2013.co.in The weightage to CUCET-2013 score and the performance at the qualifying exam will be in the ratio of 70:30, except for MBA, wherein weightage will be in ratio of 70:20:10 (CUCET 2013 Score: Group Discussion: Personal Interview). For the purpose of computing percentage of weightage of performance at qualifying exam, performance in aggregate at final year (degree) exam will be taken. If the final year result is not declared, aggregate of performance at first and second year may be considered. The list of successful candidates and schedule of counseling will be announced through the website. If a candidate is provisionally admitted during the counseling, he/she will have to deposit the prescribed fee on the same day.

Criteria
Admission shall be made on the basis of marks/grades in the qualifying examination and performance in the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET). The test shall consist of Multiple Choice Questions in two parts A and B. Part A: Consist of 35 questions focused on analytical skills and general awareness. Part B: Consist of 65 questions related to subject concerned.

CUCET 2013
Ten Central Universities, namely Bihar, Gujarat, Jammu, Jharkhand, Kashmir, Kerala, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu are the participating universities for common entrance test for admission to programmes offered by the respective universities. The test enables a candidate, as a single window facility, to seek admission to integrated programmes (after 10 +2), under-graduate, post-graduate & research programmes in the above mentioned ten universities.

Scholarships/Fellowships
Scholarships of Rs. 1000/- per month to First Three Toppers in each programme by Central University of Rajasthan. Single Girl Child Scholarship of Rs. 2000/ - per month by UGC, Government of India. M. Tech. GATE Scholarship. Scholarship for ST/SC/OBC/BPL students by Government of India. Scholarship for minority students by Government of India Post-Graduate Merit Scholarship for University Rank Holders at Undergraduate Level of Rs. 2000/- per month by UGC, Government of India. Post-Graduate Scholarship for selected SC/ST candidates of Rs. 5000/- per month for M. Tech. student and Rs. 3000/- per month for other professional courses by UGC. All Ph.D. scholars not receiving other Fellowship will be getting University scholarship as per UGC norms.

Reservation Policy
The reservation policy of the Government of India and amendments therein time to time is applicable for admissions in all programmes.

Looking to the needs of teacher education in expanding horizons of higher education in the country as well as in the state of Rajasthan, the Central University of Rajasthan offers integrated academic programmes leading to the degree of M.Sc. B.Ed. and M.Sc. programmes with content of education in various subjects.

Integrated Programmes

The students are able to decide career goals after 10+2 and focus their attention in the area of choice. The course structure is designed to prepare students for teaching profession in schools as well as in colleges/universities. The integrated programmes are prepared with the approach that the students from non mathematics background, like Biology, will have mathematics at B.Sc. level, so that they may pursue advanced studies in emerging areas at a later stage. Such integration is not being offered in any institution. In the programmes, educational pedagogy and technology will be integrated right from the beginning. Students may take courses of their choice from other departments as additional credits (Choice based credit system)

Integrated Programmes Programme Duration

Integrated M.Sc. B.Ed. in four subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Economics) Duration : 6 Years ( 12 Semesters) Integrated M.Sc. with Diploma in Education in six subjects (Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, Statistics and Computer Science). Duration: 5 Years (10 Semesters)

Programme Structure
There will be four core subjects in the 1st year and 2nd Year and only one subject as major (like Honors degree ) in III year in which the student will pursue the M.Sc. degree. Out of 48 credits of education, 36 credits are spread over from 2nd year to 5th year. While, during the 6th year, only 12 remaining credits of education are allotted. Therefore, students may take courses related to Research Methodology, if they intend to take admission in Ph.D. Programme after B.Ed. As such, time period to be spent for Ph.D. programme is reduced. In last two semesters of Integrated M.Sc., B.Ed. Programme (XI and XII Semesters), the students shall be placed in Schools/College for internship under the supervision of a mentor.

Exit Options
Exit options are available after B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree, if not continuing further for B.Ed. degree/Masters degree. The candidate will get Certificate in Education along with B.Sc. degree and Diploma in Education with M.Sc. degree if take exit after B.Sc. and M.Sc. respectively.

Change in core subjects during programme

If some seat(s) in a programme are available at any stage (after 1st year/2nd Year), the students are allowed to change their core subject on the basis of merit and performance in the previous examination. Study of language and literature enriches sociology which helps to understand the ethnic-geographical unity, fellowship of faiths, social institutions and Indian Culture from the different parts of India. Hindi is the second most spoken language in the world after Mandarin Chinese. It is the National and official language of India. Being the birth place of the famous Hindi mystic and Rajasthani poetess Meerabai of Krishna cult of Hindi literature, the university is proud to establish the Department of Hindi. Hindi Department aims at providing teaching and research facilities in the various fields - contemporary literature, fiction, Comparative literature of Hindi with other Indian Languages. Present day i.e., in the emerging post Industrial socio-economic and political net-work called globalization and the functional hierarchy between English and other language is likely to increase. Globalization will give impetus to Hindi language in India by increasing its use in new domains in the field of advertising, media, consultancy, information technology, call-centers, travel, transport, hospitality and cross-national networking parallel to English.

Preamble & Objective

Keeping in view of the post modern society and the global needs and of communication patterns, the syllabus of Hindi is framed by the University. To train the students in the field of corporate sectors functional Hindi has been introduced in each semester as a compulsory paper which includes computers and its development, Journalism Web Journalism, mass media etc. Keeping the view of the unemployment problem the Dept. of Hindi also offers the compulsory paper related to the most popular entertainment media the Indian cinema where the students read and learn about the screen play, script-writing, dialogue writing, techniques of photography with the support of other depts. Special attention is also given to the students by taking U.G.C.(N.E.T/J.R.F) classes as a part of the curriculum. The Hindi Dept. focuses not only the study of Hindi language and literature but also other classical languages of India by offering an optional paper at the P.G. level like studying the poems of Tagore (Bangla), Kumaranashan (Malayalam) Subrahmanya Bharathi (Tamil) etc.

The Department has been provided with computers and projectors in the class rooms, every staff is offered laptop and Hindi fonts are installed to enrich the contemporary needs. The courses are designed to develop multi-disciplinary skills among the students to tackle the complex environmental and economic issues. Apart from the micro, macro, international and monetary economics, there is a special focus on environmental economics, natural resource economics, global and national environmental issues, environmental impact assessment and sustainable development. Besides, econometrics, theories of economic growth, public economics, development economics, economics of human development, environmental sociology is also the part of the course curriculum. The course on Computer Applications in Economics and Statistics enables the students to handle a set of time series and cross section data using the softwares like SPSS, EViews, and STATA. The course curriculum includes lecture notes, tutorials, seminars, self-study and internship/ project report/ dissertations.

Geromic George, represented the University along with his team in the 26th inter university west zone youth festival at the Jiwaji University, Gwalior and National Youth Festival in Shri Venketeshvara University, Tirupati and stood second and third position respectively. Poonam Rathore, performed marvellously along with her team of 9 students in the One-Act-Play at West Zone Youth Festival 2010, Jiwaji University Gwalior Geromic George, got first prize in the Debate competition in International Youth festival Bani-Thani2011, organized at M.D.S. University Ajmer, Rajasthan. Geromic George was the winner of Debate Competition organized by AMU in Feb 2012.

In recent times, the idea of the text has expanded from the merely literary to all forms of cultural production, and media has come to be a powerful means of expressing culture. Media literacy has become an important skill that enables an understanding of society and culture. Hence the conceptual and formal aspects of culture and media need to be studied in order to grasp local, national and global social complexities. The M. A. Programme in Culture and Media Studies is designed to enabling the student to understand how culture shapes individuals and communities and is in turn shaped by them. The programme aims to prepare students who will enter the world of media and culture with a critical perspective and analytical mind and with an introduction to various media technologies and narratives. The department aims following objectives: To develop a clear grasp of the key concepts of cultural studies and media studies To help understand the cultural dynamics of society with the help of contemporary theory and to equip with students the analytical tools to study diverse media and cultural practices; To provide an exposure to various forms of cultural expression, & a hands on experience of media prod. To familiarize the student with the rich and complex cultures of Rajasthan; To develop critical and analytical abilities through case studies focused on cultural sites and practices; To engage with question of documentation, archiving, curating and conserving folk and indigenous cultures; To train students in research methods to produce a research dissertation; To train students in conceptual and/or practical aspects of radio, photography and documentary from script writing to post-production.

The exposure visit to MSSK oriented students about the causes and consequences of Domestic Violence, Domestic violence Act 2005 and roles and responsibilities of service providers. Day-long General Health Camp in collaboration with Mahaveer Cancer Hospital, Jaipur and YN.Hospital, Kishangarh, Rajasthan at Bandarsindri village and the University campus. The event was a huge success with more than 500 people participated and got the benefits of general health check up and free medicine at health camp. The purpose of creating awareness through exhibition amongst the people regarding the cancer importance of lifestyle, physical activity and nutrition in prevention and management of lifestyle-related diseases was fulfilled to a large extent through the health camp.

Promotion of Community Radio Scheme (CRS), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. In order to introduce the concept and utility of CRS to the target rural population, the preliminary meetings have been conducted at Patan, Bandersindhri and Mundoti villages on 18th and 19th October, 2012. The Head, Faculty members and Students of Department of Social Work, Central University of Rajasthan actively participated in the meeting and played a pivotal role in communicating the importance of Community Radio programme for the overall development of rural areas. Establishment of Day Care Centre: In order to understand the need of children between 3-6 years of age, when their parents (University employees) are away from home during day. The Department of Social Work has taken a call and opened a Day Care Centre at Central University of Rajasthan for the children of university employees and other beneficiaries. Inception of Community College: In order to follow the mandate of Ministry of Human Resource Development and meet the great demand-supply mismatch in the country as economy needs much more skilled manpower in India. The Department of Social Work, Central University of Rajasthan took lead to start Community College through different Educational institutions of Rajasthan from the academic session 2013. Preamble & Objective

The proposed M. Com. programme has a distinct objective to equip the students with knowledge, skills and attitude to become more suitable for the present and emerging job market. The courses are intended to impart intensive knowledge and training in the subject and help the students to acquire wider perspectives both for research and for professional application. The syllabus has been designed student-centered where there is flexibility for the students to have a greater choice of courses appropriate to their interests, needs, sustainability and long term goals. The courses are offered with Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) thus facilitating the students to have 24 Courses of 96 Credits spread over 4 semesters for mastering the subject for the award of Master degree in Commerce by acquiring the required depth and at the same time to select elective courses of his/her choice and based on his/her aptitude from four elective group of courses. The syllabus also includes two open courses (each carrying 4 Credits) of inter disciplinary nature out of which each shall be offered in 2nd and 3rd semester in order to suit the needs and interest of the students.

Among the many branches in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry may be regarded as a pillar of Pharmacy. However, unlike other basic sciences, Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry is an interdependent science that is a combination of applied medicine and basic sciences. Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry provides pharmacy students with a comprehensive understanding of the mechanism of drug action, the relationship between the structure of drugs and the differences in activity which is referred to as QSAR, the relationship between physicochemical properties of drugs and its impact on activity, absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity (ADMET). An understanding of the chemical basis of drug action gives pharmacy students the ability to answer rationally the why and how of drug action, and to modulate the activity by fine tuning various attributes of the drugs. This knowledge puts the pharmacist in a unique position among the various health care professionals. By imparting an exclusive knowledge base, Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry plays a vital role in providing critical thinking and evidence-based problem-solving skills to pharmacy students, enabling them to make optimal decisions in this area of pharmacy. The objectives of the course will be to provide students will an up-to-date knowledge in receptor theories, enzyme kinetics, principles of drug action, modern methods of drug design, metabolism and pharmacokinetics and advanced organic chemistry. The skill sets imparted during this course will make students competent in a research setting both in the corporate world and in an academic environment. We believe that this course will create a strong foundational knowledge of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry and will allow students to imbibe lifelong learning skills.

Salient Features

The intended research programs have a bearing on the drug and prodrug synthesis based on green and sustainable technologies using biocatalytic and biotechnological methods. The department has a well qualified faculty from the fields such as peptide chemistry, computer aided drug design and synthetic organic chemistry. Summer training programmes and visits to the top pharmaceutical research/industrial centres are planned after the second semester examination to expose the students to the latest developments in the field of pharmaceutical/medicinal chemistry.

To begin with the School of Chemical sciences and Pharmacy has well equipped laboratories for practical classes and also a number of the latest sophisticated instruments such as UV-Visible spectrophotometer, I. R., polarimeter, Table top NMR, GC, Atomic absorption spectrophotometer, Fluorescence Spectrophotometer etc. The process has been started to acquire GC-MS, 500 MHz NMR, HPLC, semi-preparative HPLC and other advanced analytical instruments. The department will also have a well equipped modern animal house and other necessary facilities needed for the drug discovery research.

Actuarial Science is the discipline that applies mathematical and statistical methods to assess risk in the insurance and finance industries. In view of the uncertainties involved, probability theory, statistics and economic theories provide the foundation for developing and analyzing actuarial models. Using an appropriate stochastic model, simulation and high speed computing, it has become possible to construct various tables and objectively determine the premiums of different types of insurance contracts, even in the presence of uncertainties associated with the prevailing risk factors. In such a decision making process, statistical techniques play a central role. A strong statistical background provides a good foundation for the integrated aspects of finance, economics, risk management and insurance. A post graduate statistics course oriented towards Actuarial Statistics is not available in many educational institutes in India. Expertise in Actuarial Statistics is globally appreciated and provides immense opportunities for employment in insurance and financial sectors. Graduates in Statistics with adequate background in actuarial science are in great demand globally. The M.Sc./M.A. Statistics course of the Central University of Rajasthan is expected to provide requisite knowledge of probability, statistics and actuarial science thus helping one to acquire analytical skills to pursue a profession in insurance / financial sector. The M. Sc. Tech. mathematics is a post-graduate course of three years duration. It is equivalent to M. Sc. (Maths) and M. Sc.(Computer Science), for the appointment of teachers posts in colleges and universities, as its syllabus comprises of core subjects both from M. Sc. Maths and M. Sc. Computer Science. The proposed syllabus is designed in such a manner that if a student having B. Sc with Mathematics wants to opt out after four Semesters, he will be awarded M. Sc. Mathematics degree, and if completes six semesters, he is awarded M. Sc. Tech. Mathematics degree. The objectives of the courses are: To prepare trained manpower needed for R & D of ICT and related industries & research organizations. To prepare higher mathematics teachers for applied mathematics especially for I.T. and Engineering. To sensitize and train young students as future researchers in the frontier areas of applied mathematics. The approach is both multi disciplinary and inter disciplinary. The programme is very flexible giving scope for audit courses and also open electives where in the student can take courses from other departments and complete the requisite number of credits. Also there is scope for a student to opt out of the programme after completing 4 semesters with M. Sc. Mathematics Degree or complete six semester whereby getting M. Sc. Tech. Mathematics degree. This Masters programme aims to train Architects to understand issues associated with Sustainable Architecture, including environmental concerns, assessment methods, energy consumption, construction materials, health, economic and social concerns, and management of buildings and other construction projects in a life-cycle perspective. Preamble & Objective

The course is highly relevant for Architects who want to pursue a professional career in Architectural and Planning practice, or in construction industry, or in the field of rural and urban development or academics and multidisciplinary research or at policy making levels in government and other organizations. This is a two year full time programme divided into four consecutive semesters of 18 weeks each including 2 weeks for exams. The first three semesters will be blend of theory and project courses and the fourth semester will be equip the participants with managerial knowledge skills for managing sustainable projects as they prepare a Masters design thesis. The Masters program in Biotechnology was started as the departments flagship program with immediate effect, with the first batch of 20 students selected through an all India entrance test. The department was shifted to the permanent campus of CURAJ at Bandarsindri, NH-8, Rajasthan, in February, 2012. The M.Sc. Lab was re-established at the new campus building and was inaugurated by the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Dr. M. M. Salunkhe, on 5th March, 2012. The department has also initiated Ph.D. program from the academic year 2012-13. Admissions to the program involved a National Level Entrance Test (CUCET for Ph.D. admission) followed by a rigorous 2-stage interview involving an external expert Dr. Hemant K. Thus, with highly qualified and enthusiastic young faculty already on board, the department aims to become one of the shining beacons of the University in the near future. The postgraduate course covers several areas with the following objectives in mind: Survey of core concepts in biochemical, genetic, molecular and cellular basis of biological phenomena and their applications in biotechnology. To employ mathematical, physical, chemical & computational (bioinformatics)approaches in biotechnology. To provide strong handson laboratory training. To develop human resource for biotechnology research, industry and governance The science of Biotechnology has tremendous potential for application in agriculture and medicine. The link between basic & applied research as well as new discoveries & innovations can find direct applications in agriculture and human health. The breakthroughs in modern biotechnology mainly include our ability to produce useful organisms through genetic engineering and cell fusion techniques and improved bioprocess technology to purify novel molecules generated by such processes. It also involves targeting drugs, development of delivery systems and vaccines. Considering this background, the program is designed in such a way so as to focus on diverse areas from Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology and Genetics with significant laboratory experiments to enable the students to have research oriented experience. The program can broadly be grouped as Basic Sciences, Plant Biotechnology, Food Sciences, Environmental Biotechnology, Medical Biotechnology, Biodiversity, Industrial Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Human Resource Development.

Objectives of the department of Biochemistry are: To ignite young minds, from different backgrounds, to understand the world of biochemical reactions through application based learning. Preamble & Objective

The University Department of Physics, Central University of Rajasthan established in the year 2011, offers postgraduate program leading to Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree awarded by the Central University of Rajasthan. The M.Sc. Physics course is a rigorous study program at post graduate level covering both depth and breadth of all relevant areas, and providing substantial research training. It is designed to impart a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles of the several branches of physics, as mathematically and experimentally demonstrated; and also to execute with their own hands various experiments to have handson experience with the tools and methods of physics, not simply with the concepts. In addition Ph.D. degree programmes has been started by the Department. Experienced faculty of the Department is devoted to research in their respective areas of specialization. Research and teaching are given equal importance by the faculty. Extra care is taken to pay individual attention to the students in their laboratory work and tutorial sessions. Project work and problem sessions are encouraged to develop innovative and analytical approach to physics learning. The program aims to train future generations of physicists with specialization in one of the frontier areas of research, that is, either in Material Science or Condensed Matter Physics. The regular laboratory meetings give students hands-on experience with the physical concepts being discussed in lecture, and introduce the principal methods of scientific investigation. The department has two well-maintained laboratories including an electronics lab in which the students can carry out their project work, play around with the concepts of electronics/physics and exhibit their creative skills which have been upgraded recently with new equipments. There is a parallel computing HPC Laboratory to aid the learning process and meet the practical needs of the students. M.Sc courses covered basic fundamental physics such as Classical mechanics, Quantum Mechanics etc and advance courses on Condensed Mater Physics, Experimental Physics etc. There are few elective courses such as computational Physics and Materials Science.

Students of all programmes have got permanent placements in many renowned institutes like Customer First, Genpact, Shree Cement, Muthoot Fincorp, A3 Logics, Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance, ING Vysya Life Insurance, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, Shree Ram Finance etc. Students of all programmes have got summer placements in many renowned institutes like Institute of Public Enterprise, Hyderabad, NCL Pune, University of Hyderabad, IISER Kolkata, Genpact etc.

TheCareer Counseling Cellof the University not only provides placement assistance to the students in relevant organization but it also helps the students of the University in their career planning, preparation for selection tests, summer placement, internship and final placements. Keeping in view the demand and preference of the various industries, the Cell is also looking for the development of the students. In this direction various activities like Aptitude test, Group Discussion, Guest Lectures from corporate personalities are organized from time to time by the placement cell for the students of the University. Career Counseling Cell of the University organized a two day workshop on Resume writing in the Campus.

Mega Placement Fair was organized by the University. Visits were made to various companies in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, New Delhi, Noida , Gurgaon and Bangalore to invite them for recruitment of students in the placement fair. Students from various colleges and Universities all over the Rajasthan / Outside Rajasthan were invited for participation in the placement fair. Around 58 students of CURAJ were shortlisted/ selected by different companies during the placement fair. Around 30 companies like Shree Cements, Muthoot Fincorp, Bajaj Capital, Indusind Bank, ING Vysya Life Insurance, KDK Software, Metacube Software, Bank of India, United Breweries, ICICI Bank, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, Aegis Ltd., A3 Logics, Pratham, Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance, Pravah, Devi Resorts, Bosch, Acetech, Crest Containers, Systema IT, Nexus Business Solutions, Ashiana Housing, HDFC Finance, Carry on entertainment, Merck , S.P Biotech etc. visited during the placement fair to recruit the students.

Sports Facility
The university has excellent facilities for sports and games. There are four tennis courts, two basket ball courts, two volley ball courts in the campus. Besides, there are four badminton courts in boys and girls hostel. Recently, a Kabbadi ground is also developed in the university campus. One cricket ground is under construction. Students take part in inter university sports competition as well as youth festivals. Many Indoor games facilities are also available in both girls and boys hostel.

Each student is expected to maintain a very high standard of discipline and show respect to the teachers, be very co-operative with the fellow students and become brand ambassadors to the Society. 1. Discipline includes the observance of good conduct and orderly behavior by the students of the University; 2. The following and such other Rules as framed by the University from time to time, shall strictly be observed by the students of the University; Every student of the University shall maintain discipline and consider it his/her duty to behave decently at all places; No student shall visit places or areas declared by the University as Out of Bounds for the students; Every student shall always carry on his/her Identity Card issued by the competent authority; Every student, who has been issued the Identity Card, shall have to produce or surrender the Identity Card, as and when required by the University Any student found guilty of impersonation or of giving a false name shall be liable to disciplinary action; The loss of the Identity Card, whenever it occurs, shall immediately be reported in writing to the competent authority; and If a student is found to be continuously absent from Classes without information for a period of 15 days in one or more Classes, his/her name shall be struck off the rolls. He/she may, however, be readmitted within the next fortnight by the Dean on payment of the prescribed readmission fee etc. He/she will not be readmitted beyond the prescribed period. 3. Indiscipline shall include: Irregularity in attendance, persistent idleness or negligence or indifference towards the work assigned; Causing disturbance to a Class or the Office or the Library, the auditorium and the Play Ground etc.; Disobeying the instructions of teachers or the authorities; Misconduct or misbehavior of any nature at the time of elections to the student bodies or at meetings or during curricular or extra-curricular activities of the University; Misconduct or misbehavior of any nature at the Examination Centre; Misconduct or misbehavior of any nature towards a teacher or any employee of the University or any visitor to the University; Causing damage, spoiling or disfiguring to the property/equipment of the University; Inciting others to do any of the aforesaid acts; Giving publicity to misleading accounts or rumor amongst the students; Mischief, misbehavior and/or nuisance committed by the residents of the hostels; Visiting places or areas declared as out of bounds for the students; Not carrying the Identity cards issued by the Proctor; refusing to produce or surrender the Identity Card as and when required by - Proctorial and other Staff of the University;

Any act and form of sexual harassment, ragging or discrimination on the basis of caste, category, religion, race; Engaging in unlawful activities that includes membership of banned organizations, organizing meetings and processions without due permission of the competent authorities; and Any other conduct anywhere which is considered to be unbecoming of a student. 4. Students found guilty of breach of discipline shall be liable to such punishment, as prescribed below: Fine; Campus Ban; Expulsion; and Rustication. However, no such punishment shall be imposed on an erring student unless he / she is given a fair chance to defend himself/herself. This shall not preclude the Vice-Chancellor from suspending an erring student during the pendency of disciplinary proceedings against him /her. 5. All powers relating to discipline and disciplinary action in relation to the student shall vest in the ViceChancellor. However, the Vice-Chancellor may delegate all or any of his powers as he deems proper to the competent authority or to the Discipline Committee as the case may be or any functionary of the University. 6. (i) Without prejudice to Section 11(5) and also Statute 28(1), there shall be a Discipline Committee comprising of the following members: Vice-Chancellors nominee or Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dean Students Welfare Deans of the Schools Warden, who shall be invited, when the matter concerning his/her Hall of Residence is required to be placed before the Committee for consideration Proctor (Member/Secretary) (ii) Subject to any powers conferred by the Act and the Statute on the Vice-Chancellor, the Committee shall take cognizance of all matters relating to discipline and proper standards of behavior of the students of the University and shall have the powers to punish the guilty as it deems appropriate. (iii) The said Committee shall, make such Rules as it deems fit for the performance of its functions and these Rules and any other Orders under them shall be binding on all the students of the University. (iv) The recommendations of the Discipline Committee shall be submitted to the Vice-Chancellor whose decision will be final and binding. However, the Vice- Chancellor, if he is of the opinion that the case merits review, may refer the case back to the Discipline Committee for reconsideration. (v) Appeal against the decision of the Vice-Chancellor will be dealt in accordance with the provisions of Section 34 of the Central Universities Act 2009. (vi) One-third of the total members shall constitute the quorum for a meeting of the said Committee.

Other Initiatives General Laboratory Safety Training

In the light of the risks/ hazards associated with working in the academic and research laboratories, the Central University of Rajasthan has developed a comprehensive General and Laboratory Safety Program. This program encompasses of class room teaching, hands on training demonstration and online quiz about the general and laboratory safety procedures. This safety training program is developed in accordance with suggestions from experts of leading academic and industrial institutions (e.g. BARC- Mumbai, & BASF the chemical company- Mumbai). It is envisioned that students undergoing this training will be able to ensure safety of themselves and other during their academic/ research careers. It is anticipated that this training will significantly improve the employability for our students.

Cyber Safety Policy

Educate CURAJ family about cyber safety issues. Provide guidance regarding the safe and responsible use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) at CURAJ. Educate them of their obligations and responsibilities with regards to the safe and responsible use of ICT in accordance with the cyber safety policy. Outline the nature of possible consequences associated with breaches of the CURAJ cyber safety policy which may undermine the safety of the CURAJs environment.

Plagiarism means presenting another person's ideas, work, copying or reproducing the work without due acknowledgment of the source. Work submitted for assessment may also be regarded as plagiarized where significant portions of an assignment have been reproduced from the work of another student. Hence the students are advised to not to resort to plagiarism in their work. The Central University of Rajasthan is opposed to and will not tolerate plagiarism.

The university is committed to academic excellence and high standards of ethical behavior as the corner stones of scholastic achievement and quality assurance. The university requires all students to act honestly, ethically and with integrity in their dealings with the university employees, the other students and public.

Academic Honesty

As per the guidelines of UGC and the Supreme Court to avoid Sexual Harassment at workplace a Cell was established by the Central University of Rajasthan to provide a healthy and congenial atmosphere to the staff and students of the University. The first Meeting of the Apex Body of SPARSH (Sensitization, Prevention and Redressal of Sexual Harassment) was held on 5th November, 2012. The cell was constituted to meet the four basic objectives: To develop the guidelines and norms for a policy against sexual harassment To develop principles and procedures for combating sexual harassment To work out details for the implementation of the policy To prepare a detailed plan of action, both short and long term Any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student, indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear of apprehension thereof in freshers or junior students or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such students will not do in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student. The Central University of Rajasthan is opposed to and will not tolerate ragging. All cases of ragging will be strictly dealt with as per provision under ORDINANCE 22 Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions (Act Section 28 (n). Anti-Ragging Cell

Every student admitted to any programme of the university will have a faculty member from the concerned department as his advisor (called student advisor). The student advisor will track and monitor the students regularity in the class room attendance, performance in tests and in completing other assignments in all the courses the student is required to pursue. Based on the assessment of the students progress and conduct he will be suitably advised and guided so as to ensure that the student remains focused on his primary academic objective. Problems due to any extra ordinary situation will be discussed with the Head and resolved at the department level. Every student will keep in touch with his advisor and meet him periodically, as prescribed by the advisor, and strive to improve his / her performance. A student may also seek advice regarding appearance at the professional examination and participation in outside seminars and other co/extra-curricular activities in a way that does not affect his primary objective.

Student Advisor

It is the policy of the University that all processes, including evaluation at various stages will be fully transparent. The answer scripts of all tests and EoSE are shown to the students on the stipulated date announced by the concerned departments and shortcomings in the answers are pointed out and guidance is given for improving future performance. A student on his/her own can seek guidance for improvement in performance from the teacher in-charge of the particular course.

Aims: The overall aim of National Service Scheme as envisaged earlier, is to give an extension dimension to the higher education system and orient the student youth to community service while they are studying in educational institution. The educated youth who are expected to take the reins of administration in future are found to be unaware of the problems of the village/slum community and in certain cases are indifferent towards their needs and problems. Therefore it is necessary to arouse the social conscience of the students, and to provide them an opportunity to work with the people in the villages and slums. It is felt that their interaction with the common villagers and slum dwellers will expose them to the realities of life and bring about a change in their social perception. The Motto: The motto or watchword of the National Service Scheme is :NOT ME BUT YOU. This reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service and appreciation of the other persons point of view and also to show consideration for fellow human beings. It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of society on the whole. Therefore, it should be the aim of the NSS to demonstrate this motto in its day-to-day programme. Incentive (s) to the students: The NSS volunteers may get appropriate weightage if he/she completes 2 years in NSS and gets the certificate signed by the Vice-Chancellor of the university. Universities may give preference to such NSS volunteers in matters of admission, promotion and other privileges as decided by them. NSS volunteers should be honored at university level for their excellent and outstanding work in NSS. The universities may prepare guidelines for such incentives. The states may also institute state level/district level awards for outstanding NSS volunteers. NSS volunteers may be nominated for Indira Gandhi Awards at National Level.

National Social Service

NSS Activities: The central University of Rajasthan initiated NSS as an extra curriculum activity for the students. During the first phase of this program we have done tree plantation at boys hostel located temporarily at BSNL quarters, Kishangarh, Ajmer Campus Cleaning : One day camp was organized for campus cleaning at Bandar Sindari campus of CURAJ under the activity of NSS on 20th September 2011. Around 150 students participated in the camp. The task was assigned to the students to clean the sports ground of boys hostel Badminton and volley ball area. Blood Donation Camp: Central University of Rajasthan organized a blood donation camp under the two days camp of NSS along with the medical help and association of Jawaharlal Lal Nehru Medical college and Hospital Ajmer. The camp was organized on 13th and 14th October 2011 at Kishangarh and Bandar Sindari campus of CURAJ respectively. Around 150 students including teaching and non teaching staff donated the blood and more than 300 were registered an examined by the team of doctors for donation. NSS cell celebrated Youth Weekin the university campus fromJanuary 16th to 18th, 2013.Following activities are planned to be organized under theevent: Essay Competition (Topic:-The continuing introduction of newtechnologies and new media adds little to the quality of education) Poster Competition (Topic:-Youth Involvement in Social Activities) Debate Competition (Topic: Facebook: A social Network, a Revolutionor A time waste and a diversion from Indian culture and Values) Motivational Lecture For Youth, by Dr. Satish Batra (University of Rajasthan) Celebration of Womens Day: NSS cell celebrated Womens day and organized cooking competition on March 8th 2013 on special theme A Cooking without Gas: Nutritious Food.
