Live Football Manager

Football is your business

Introduction
Live Football Manager (LFM) that has been developed by the Centre for Innovation Management and Enterprise at the University of East London Royal Docklands Business School, E Squared and Catalyst in the communities. The concept is currently being maintained and developed further by the student co-operative Consensio.

Mission Statement LFM has been developed to encourage interactive learning of Business and entrepreneurial skills with the use of Football (Soccer) for young people.

The Aims of LFM


Enhance Employability skills amongst the young people.
Enhance Personal skills amongst the young people.

Enable learners to apply their footballing ability and skills to business and employment prospects.
Enable learners to explore career choices by exploring the range of jobs that are connected to Football. Provide learners with a tool to manage their own career pathways and be able to plan for a positive future.

The Objectives of LFM


Enable learners to identify positive skills and attributes in a football environment.
Help develop and enhance skills that learners already possess from football, so that they can execute these skills in a business environment. Ensure that learners have a clear understanding of career opportunities within/outside the Football industry that are available to them.

Aid Learners in understanding the process by which various career paths can be pursued.
Encourage critical thinking in a football environment.

Current Projects Being Undertaken


At present, Live Football manager is piloting the concept with West Ham United Football Club. This takes place once a week for eight weeks at the West Ham United community facility.

There are 5 trainees and 25 children that are currently involved with the pilot scheme.

Main Challenges The main challenges thus far are motivating the learners to attend each week and making sure the learners pay attention when the theory is being taught to them

Future Aims for LFM


Identify potential football clubs/communities within the UK as partners and have them carry out this concept with their young people. (Phase 1)

Identify potential football clubs/communities within Europe as partners and have them carry out this concept with their young people. (Phase 2)

Identify potential football clubs/communities Internationally such as in North and South America, Africa, the Middle East and Australasia and have them carry out this concept with their young people. (Phase 3)

Overall Vision
The overall vision that this concept has stemmed from is for the young people around the world to enhance their business, employability and entrepreneurial skills with the use of the skills that they have obtained from Football. Football is a vehicle that can help enhance the cognitive process of a being, and this concept is that enhancement. The future of many young people around the world can be a positive one when they are equipped with the appropriate skills and how to execute those very skills, coupled with the determination to be successful.
