Training Description: The new mandatory settlement conferences are a new integral component
to the foreclosure process. There are important considerations for lawyers participating in this
limited capacity. This training is geared towards these lawyers. This training will cover the NYS
foreclosure process; provide a subprime lending overview; discussion of common legal claims and
defenses; evaluating the long-term affordability of the home; loss mitigation options; working and
negotiating with lenders; working with housing counselors; review of realistic and successful
settlements.
