approximately 10 minutes. they exited the south doerand walked to the junior parking lot where they
entered her vehicle and drove to a nearby Good Times Hamburger Stand, wherethey had lunch. She
reports obse"ling nothing suspicious in the parking lot as she exited.

Following lunch, they attempted to drive backto school, but weretumed back by pollee and told that a
shooting hadoccurred at the school.

She \Joes not have an e-mail address.

She notes that on the Tuesday following students returning 10 Chatfield High School, she had occasion to
be in a 7'" hourlanguage arts class with Mr. Leyba, when another student, Alex Marsh, responded to a class
discussion topicabout guilt, by saying she felt gUilty because sheshould have been with Harris and Klebold
on 04·20-99. and been involved in the shootings. The teacher became upset, as did otherstudents, and
she was asked not to attend class the next day, but instead see a counsaior. She had returned to class on
Thursday, and apologized for her comments.

FBI CASE NUMBER: 174A-DN-57419
OOLDEN POLICE NOMBER: 99-1362
REPORT DATE; 05121199
DETECTIVES: Jon Watson

Background:
Source learned from student David DEIDEL and others that Brian SARGENT stated that Dylan
KLEBOLDtried to back out prior to shootings.

. I&!!!!:
Interview David DEIDEL to determine what he heard SARGENT say about KLEEOLD.

Disposition:

SUBJECT: David T. DEIDEL

DOB: 09/04/80
6942 S. Webster Wy.
Littleton, CO 80128
(303) 971-0690

In the interest oftime, DEIDEL was interviewed by telephone at his residence on May 21,1999
about 9:30AM.

DEIDEL left Columbine High School after his 4dl hour classon April 20, 1999to go to lunch
with some friends. They went off campusto "Tortilla Wraps", and were gone during the time
that the shooting started.

DEIDEL said the basis for this lead comes froman incident which happened in his 3M hour class
on about the 3'd day after classes resumed, at Chatfield High School. DEIDELhad been away on
a baseball trip, so even though it was the third dsy of classes, it was his first day back to school.

He and several other students were

standingin class, talkingabout Eric HARRIS and Dylan
KLEBOLD, and the consensuswas that HARRlS was the controller; KLEBOLD was the
follower.

At that time Brian SARGENT,who is also in that class, interjected a comment,"Yeah, Dylan
[KLEBDLD] was going to give himself up", and when DEIDELor anothermemberof his group
asked SARGENThow he knew that, SARGENT said, "That was just a thought thatsome of us
had".

This is similar to a rumor that was relatedto me by anotherstudent as being very prevalent
amongthe students at this time, in whichHARRIS is rumoredto have shot KLEBOLD because
KLEBOLDdidn't want to continue with the incident.
