ANALYSIS: Leader, Follower and Situation Framework

Leadership is the process and the result of complex interactions among the leader, the followers, and the situation. This complexity means that leadership and leadership development cannot be only about the leader. Studying only leaders provides an often-crippling partial view of the leadership process.

Put simply, leadership is the process of influencing an organized group to achieving its goals. This process involves a dynamic interaction between leaders and followers in a particular situation, and it is the leader's responsibility to align him/ her with followers (and vice versa) according to the situation. "Leadership," therefore becomes the aligned center of this dynamic process:

According to famous director Peter Jackson, Leader is a large part to a unique combination of personal qualities and talents. As Madeline Albright has said, Leaders differ from followers on personal traits, cognitive abilities, skills, and value. According to Konosuke Matsushita, Leader is the creative way of involving employees in the leadership process. Having explained leader from the point of view of leaders, the second component of the model are the followers. Various factors such as expectations, personality traits, maturity levels, levels of competence, and motivation of the followers greatly affect the leadership process. There are two dimensions of followers; they are either Independent, Critical Thinking, Or Active Or They Are Dependent, Uncritical Thinking, And Passive.

Branson has been leading his followers in a way that makes them independent, critical thinking, and active. He has been making his employees Practice self-development, Helping them become individual leaders,

Decentralizing authority in the organization, Increasing independence and collaboration, As well as delegating power to become leaders.

In this way Branson has become a better listener and a facilitator. The third component, and the basis of this model, is the situation in which the leadership process is being practiced upon. The following situational factors are mostly considered by leaders in leadership process; Size of the organization Social and psychological climate Patterns of employment And type, place, and purpose of works

Considering the above mentioned factors, Branson has strong situational leadership skills too. In every situation, he Enjoys good rapport among subordinates, Has adoptive, supportive and participative behavior, Gives freedom and responsibility to perform to his employees according to their readiness for the task,

What most describes his situational leadership is his desire to always look for and use every opportunity to create a new company to be viable. He is quite capable of controlling situations and also a high risk taker. He follows different leadership styles and techniques according to the situation and the context. This has been one of the most important features of Branson. He also shows the ability to implement changes quickly.Virgin Cola in the United States changed its strategy, management and location of its tdrinks business with emphasis on the theme "New Age beverages like fruit juices and energy drinks, when he saw no prospect in the war against the Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola in the Cola Business.

There are 3 Qs for a better situation and they are 1. Are things going right? 2. Does everyone know what to do and can they do it? 3. How will the stakeholder react? Richard Branson made sure these three Qs were answered correctly and this makes him a good situational leader.
