Fifth Avenue Block Party

Attention all Reds fans! We will travel to Cincinnati to watch the 12:35 Reds vs. Pirates game on June 20th. Anyone interested in going should contact Brad no later than May 31st so we can order the best available tickets. I want to encourage all our adults to find a way to volunteer for VBS. If you are interested, contact Jean Azbell, Tracy Hinson or our Childrens Director, Hannah Martin as soon as possible. I am happy to announce that Hannah Martin has graduated and has arrived in Lancaster for good. Woohoo! Whether you have children here at FACC or not, please make her feel welcome by inviting her into your home to visit. I especially want to encourage all our parents to get their children involved in every aspect of our childrens ministry here at Fifth. Your children need to begin learning now the importance of a daily walk with Christ and making this church a vital part of their lives. What we do here is more important than any sport, club, music or dance class, etcthat you may currently have them involved in. Let us help you build a solid foundation for Christ in your childs life. I hope to see all our guys at our next Mens Fraternity this Tuesday at 6:30. You are asked to bring a snack. We will provide water bottles and coffee for drinks. We will continue on with our study on Stepping Up. In His Service, Brad Seevers

COMING TRAVEL ADVENTURE: On May 27, eight of us will be leaving for Senior Saints in the Smokies .. Our next Senior Trip will be on Wednesday, June 26. At that time we will be going to Jackson Center, Ohio to see how they build Airstream trailers. The plant only provides group tours at ten oclock in the morning. Therefore, it will be necessary for us to leave here at 7:30 AM on that day. The only cost for this trip will be $5 per person for gas and whatever you want to spend on your lunch. We will be posting a sign-up sheet very soon . Looking ahead: On October 17, we will be going to the LaComedia Dinner Theatre to see a third installment of The Church Basement Ladies: A Mighty Fortress. If you are interested in making this trip, you can make your reservations early by contacting me or the church office. The earlier the better! I would like your payment 60 days in advance of the show date. (The cost, per person, is $44.00. Remember this includes travel, dinner and the show.)
SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUARY: Thanks to Brad for filling in for me last week (May 12). This week (May 19) we will complete our current series on The Friends of Paul with a study on Demas, The Defector. Then, on May 26 we begin a new series that I am calling Seven Lessons From Judges. These lessons will be character studies of seven of the Old Testament Judges. If you are not involved in a small group, on Sunday evenings, I encourage you to join us. Communion is available for those who desire. Please be reminded that we now have activities for children each Sunday evening.

WEDNESDAY BIBLE STUDIES: This week, May 22, we return to our study on Colossians. We will be examining chapter two. Why not join us for the 10 AM or 6:30 PM session? FINAL THOUGHT: A person who rows the boat usually doesnt have time to rock it.

Last week in Childrens Church we celebrated our mothers! The Bible tells us that we should obey our parents, for it is right! We brainstormed ideas of ways we could honor our mothers. We decided that we should treat our mothers extra special on Mothers Day, but we should also treat her well and honor her each and every day! We are thankful that God has blessed us all with Mothers that love us! Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 Honor your father and motherwhich is the first commandment with a promise 3 so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth. Thank you for all of the Graduation gifts and congratulations! I have truly been blessed with my time at KCU. God has provided me with more than I deserve throughout my college career, and the opportunities that came with it! I am excited to embark on this new stage of life! Hannah

Worship is always about surrender. It is a declaration that God is worthy of everything we are. It is a statement of giving up self and selfish pursuits to place God in the place of highest honor. Worship is submission to Jesus as the very real Lord of our lives. It is for this reason that Paul says in Romans 12:1-2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of Gods mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to Godthis is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what Gods will ishis good, pleasing and perfect will. In view of what God has done for us through Christ, who gave up his life for us, we are called to offer ourselves to live not for our purposes, but for His. That is worship: to die to self and live for Him. This is what sets the Christ follower apart, not viewing life through worldly eyes but seeking Gods will and His way. Worship is never about singing a few songs on Sunday. It is never about a special place or time. Worship is about knowing that every day is the Lords day, every song is His, every breath belongs to Him. Worship is choosing to live like Christ, to follow him in everything and to give Him the glory in everything. Lord, help us to live in surrender to your will, to see things through your eyes and place you in the place of honor in our lives, that you might be glorified and others might seek salvation in Christ.

Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:

Sermon Notes ________________________

________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ __________________________________________ ___________________________________

Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through grace-based preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance

Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry

After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member.

We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
