THE WORLD

INTRODUCTION

Under the order of the Old Testament, God revealed himself as a Holy God.

Isaiah6: 3―Holy , holy, holy is the Lord‖.

The basic idea of holiness is separation. In other words, he is Holy and we are
sinners. His holiness sets him apart and makes him different from his fallen
creatures.

That’s why the saints of the Old Testament never dared to approach him as a
father.

When Abraham intersseded for Sodom he named him.―Judge of all earth‖ or ―My
Lord‖.

Genesis 18: 25 ―That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the

righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that
be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?‖.

Moises called God ―Lord‖, See Psalm90, Ex. 32, etc.

Samson prayed: ―Sovereing Lord, remember me!‖.

If we sum up all the prayers of the protagonists of the Old Covenant, all of them
named him using Lord, Jehova, etc.

The only prophet who dared to name him ―Father‖ was Isaiah.

Isaiah 63: 16 ―Surely you are still our Father! Even if Abraham and Jacob would
disown us, Lord, you would still be our Father. You are our Redeemer from ages
past.‖

The idea that we all are children of God is not found in the Bible anywhere.
Sonship to god is not an universal status into which everyone enters by natural
birth, but a supernatural giftwhichone receives through the cleansinof the blood
and the person of Jesus Chris.

Four important aspects of God’s sonship:

1.- The gift of sonship.

The New Testament reveals a new dimension of God. He is still revealed as a
holy person, but a new factor has come in. Things have changed.

The Lord Jesus related to God in a new basis. He called him ―father‖ . That was
the difference.

When the disciples learned the Lord’s prayer, and listened the introduction: ―Our
Father who art in heaven‖, they were shocked. It was revolutionary to approach
God in such a familiar way.

2.- The adoption.

Galatians 4: 5-7 ―But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a
woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves
to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because you
Gentiles have become his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into your
hearts, and now you can call God your dear Father. no longer a slave but God’s
own child. And since you are his child, everything he has belongs to you‖.

Ephesians 1: 5―His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into his own
family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. And this gave him great
pleasure‖.

In Mexico City occurred a painful car accident. A father rushed to the nearest

hospital with his dying child. Another homeless child was broughtinto the hospital
moribund too.

Afterthe doctors suggestion, the father decided to authorizea

bloodtransfussionfrom his son to theother child, in order to save thehomeless
child.

After that, the man reasoned: ―Well my son is dead, and the orphan is alive
thank of the bloodtransfussion. But Alas! something of myson lives in this
orphan, his blood‖. So he decided to adopt that boy.

Hebrews 10: 18-20 ―In the same way we orphans and sinners were adopted
children of God troughthe blood of Jesus. And so, dear brothers and sisters, we
can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. This is
the new, life-giving way that Christ has opened up for us through the sacred
curtain, by means of his death for us‖.

We are adoptedchildren of God through the born again experience.

John 1: 12 ―But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to
become children of God. They are reborn! This is not a physical birth resulting
from human passion or plan—this rebirth comes from God‖.

3.- Sonship is the climax of the blessing of God.

 The climax of the first resurrection appeareance is Jesus’statement that he was
ascendingto ―myFather and your Father, my God and your God‖.

Prior of this, Jesus related to his disciples as follows:

John 15: 14 -16 ―You are my friends if you obey me. I no longer call you
servants, because a master doesn’t confide in his servants. Now you are my
friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me‖.

First we are servants, then friends, now we are brothers.

John 20: 17 ―Don’t cling to me, Jesus said, for I haven’t yet ascended to the
Father. But go find my brothers and tell them that I am ascending to my Father
and your Father, my God and your God‖.

Brother LeonaskedSaint Francis ¿What isGod for you? Francis answered: Don’t
tell him God, God is a terrible and fearful name! He is my Father‖.

When my father died, I complained God, but he answerd to me:

Psalms 27: 10 ―Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me
close‖.

4.-Benefits of sonship.

a.- Inheritance:

Romans 8: 16 – 17 ―For his Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells

us that we are God’s children. And since we are his children, we will share his
treasures for everything God gives to his Son, Christ, is ours, too. But if we are
to share his glory, we must also share his suffering‖.

Galatians 4: 7 ―Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you
are his child, everything he has belongs to you‖.

Is our right the inheritance that he has in store for us.

b.- Presence of the Holy Spirit:

Luke 11: 11 - 13―You fathers if your children ask for a fish, do you give them a
snake instead?Or if they ask for an egg, do you give them a scorpion? Of course
not! If you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much
more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.‖

c.- Lifeof Faith:

Matthew 6: 31 – 33 ―So don’t worry about having enough food or drink or

clothing. Why be like the pagans who are so deeply concerned about these
things? Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs, and he will give you
all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God
your primary concern‖.

A terrible arson was in motion. A child was screaming with terror in a high
window. The firemen were asking theboy to jump, but he refused. At last his
father arrived and asked his son to jump! The child obeyed because he had
confidence in his father!!!

Due to all these, we can with all trust go to our heavenly Father saying: Daddy!
