also common), bronchial illness is its main focus. Its natural place is between psora and syphilis and it carries some traits of both miasms. 12. History of Diabetes, TB or Cancer in the family; whooping cough in childhood. The essence of cancer is sensitivity to the world and criticism and anxiety for others and events generally. It shares some features of Sycosis when it expresses in tumours and growths, and also in the reckless hyperactivity and sexual excess. It also shares some of the traits of Syphilis when it expresses in ulcerations and wasting cancers and in its ultimate self-destructiveness, but also in the particular detachment and inner indifference to their lot in life. People with this miasm tend to suppress their negative emotions like anger, fear, aggression. They tend to exhibit a passivity and hopelessness when faced with stresses of life. Deep emotional withdrawal is covered up by a put on appearance of cheerfulness and dependability, to mask a strong inner sense of lack of worth or feelings of guilt. Abscess. Acne. Allergy. Asthma. Chronic fatigue syndrome. Colitis. Constipation. Cough. Developmental delay. Diabetes. Dysmenorrhoea. Headache. Immune deficiency. Insomnia. Moles. Nevi. Ovarian cyst. Premenstrual syndrome. The personality that is characteristic of this miasm is generally strong and passionate and very intense. The patient often feels a sense of being unfulfilled which drives him to work excessively, push limits, or live dangerously. There is a restlessness and a desire for travel and excitement. The Carcinosin child is often sensitive and sympathetic and may be rather timid. He is open and easily wounded and can be suppressed. The child is tremendously sensitive to criticism and reprimand. He may dislike or feel intolerant of consolation. As the patient reaches adolescence and puberty, there may be strong sexual instincts and passions which are difficult to contain.

High blood pressure; large bulging head, greasy hair. 14. Intolerance of artificial light. Loss of smell. Fissures in lips, ulcers in mouth. 15. Worse at night and heat. Syphilis is represented by the characteristic genital ulcer (chancre) and, in general, involves ulcerative conditions. It is marked by tissue destruction and degeneration, involving various conditions marked by the prefix dys (such as dystrophy, dystonia). Here we see the corrosive effects of the syphilitic infection in terms of the mind (suicide, serious mental disorders, addictions) and the body (ulcers, decay, congenital defects). Abscess. Acne. Alcoholism. Alopecia. Aneurysm. Anxiety. Anorexia. AIDS. Bone pains. Compulsive disorder. Headache. Insomnia. Leucorrhea. Malignancy. Mouth ulcer. Multiple Sclerosis. Neuralgia. Psoriasis. Scoliosis. Skin ulcer. Astigmatism. Growing pains. Let us summarize the different stigmata, remembering that we may get all shadings of all the stigmata in their groupings in our patients, but one stigma will predominate above all the others. They all have their characteristic differences. The accentuation of psora is function; the accentuation of the syphilitic taint is ulcerative; the accentuation of sycosis is infiltration and deposits. When suppressed, the syphilitic stigma spends itself on the meninges of the brain, and affects the larynx and throat in general, the eyes, the bones and the periosteum. Psora spends its action very largely upon the nervous system and the nerve centres, producing functional disturbances, which are > by surface manifestations. Sycosis attacks the internal organs, especially the pelvic and sexual organs. In this stigma we find the worst forms of inflammation, infiltration of the tissues causing abscesses, hypertrophies, cystic degeneration; when thrown back into the system by suppression this stigma causes dishonesty, moral degeneracy and mania. In treating patients suffering from these stigmata, this classification is of inestimable value, for it immediately throws the simillimum into a class of remedies corresponding with the accentuation of the stigma that is outstanding in the case, and this should be considered in the totality; it will often throw light upon the choice of a simillimum that is applicable to the individual case and stage of development. When we are considering a case manifesting mixed stigmata, there is always one more prominent, and this will be the one requiring relief; when this is relieved, the next in prominence must be cared for, until the patient is freed from the inheritance of generations.
