APPENDIX 3 SYNOPSIS
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM Nano being a dream project, for Tatas, satisfied all the criteria of a successful launch that is tiny price tag, performance, design, style, brand, welcoming customers, mileage, space, interiors, looks, elegance, etc. but the irony started when the safest had claimed car of Tatas caught in flames while its way back from showroom to home. The intense media scrutiny about the few cases of Nano catching fire brought a remarkable dent in Nano sales and shattered the customers confidence in cars. Since then Nano is struggling hard to regain its strong image in the eyes of its customers as still the huge potential if middle segment is unexplored.
OBJECTIVES of the Study : Primary Objective : To discover the reasons behind customers preferring Tata Nano Secondary Objectives : To explore the most preferred car between Tata Nano and Maruti Alto 800 in terms of size, cost and other attributes. To study and to analyze the impact of pricing on the market potential for Tata Nano cars. To identify the major decision maker in the purchase of automobiles. To examine the preferred budget line of the respondents towards the purchase of car.
METHODOLOGY OF STUDY Primary data Personal visits with the potential customers and for this purpose a structured questionnaire was prepared. Analysis of this data was done through tabulation and classification. Secondary data It was collected through analyzing case studies, journals, annual reports of the company, websites and other published data relevant to the scope of the study SAMPLING METHOD The researcher resorted to convenient sampling method in he study .
SAMPLE SIZE The sample size consists of 120 respondents PLAN OF ANALYSIS a) Simple Percentage analysis b) Chi-Square test The analysis of the research would be carried out with the help of statistical tools like various tables, charts, graphs Chapter Scheme :
1. Introduction: It gives a brief information about market potential and it analysis, the Indian Automobile Industry, Tata Motors Company and its cheapest car Tata Nano and its market potential strategies. 2. Review of Literature and Research Design: It mainly consists statement of problem, objectives of the study, research design adopted, sources of data used, scope of the study, hypothesis testing, sampling techniques adopted, analysis and interpretations used and limitations of the study. 3. Profile of Industry and Company: To make the brief study on automobile industry trends along with statistics and Tata Motors company with its product profile. Life story of Nano is also explained in detail. 4. Results, Analysis and Discussion: To make an analysis using the methodology and to know the performance of the company and its car- Tata Nano which is explained through tables and graphs. 5. Summary of Findings, Conclusion and Recommendations: To conclude the project by giving suggestions on the research done.
