Capacitance Capacitance level limit switches are based on the capacitor principle. As the solids cover and uncover the probe, the capacitance changes and the electronics switch. The compact Minicap limit switch has an integrated build-up compensation. The capacitance product range for bulk solids, up to a grain size of 50 mm/2" is completed by the robust Solicap M probe, in compact or rope design and by high temperature probes up to 400 C/752 F. Paddle A synchronous motor drives a shaft with a paddle via a transmission. As the paddle is slowed down or stopped by the solids, the limit is detected. Impacts on the paddle against the direction of rotation are absorbed by a slip clutch.

Microwave barrier The microwave signal is sent from an FQR emitter via an integrated horn antenna. An FDR receiver installed on the opposite side of the pipe detects the signal and issues a switching signal to the FTR unit as the microwave beam is interrupted by solids. Non-contact level limit detection, free of wear and tear is possible in silos, hoppers or cyclones through windows of e.g. glass or plastic material which can be penetrated by the microwaves.

Radiometric instrumentation
The radiometric measuring principle is based on the attenuation of gamma rays as they pass through matter. The Gammapilot M compact transmitter contains a scintillator, a photomultiplier and integration electronics. Emitted gamma rays generate light flashes in the scintillator. They are fed to the photomultiplier where they are transformed into electric pulses and amplified. The pulse rate (number of pulses per second) is an indication of the intensity of the radiation. Depending on the calibration the pulse rate is converted to a level, limit detection, density or concentration signal by the evaluating electronics. Gammapilot M is available with an NaI crystal or plastic scintillators in different lengths tin order to facilitate installation. When nothing else works Radiometric measurement is used when extreme conditions exclude other principles. Any process temperature Any process pressure Independent of product characteristics Absolutely non-contact Measurement from outside, through walls Typical measuring ranges approx. 1 m/3 ft to 8 m/26 ft, if required, cascading the detectors will also increase the measuring range Ambient temperatures from -40 C/-40 F to 60 C/140 F (with water cooling 120 C/248 F) Compact stainless steel housing Optional onsite display in field housing (FHX40) Use of NaI crystal because of the high stability of +/- 0.1% in density applications Multifunctional For all media and applications Rod scintillation detectors: Highly sensitive at very small source strengths (for limit detection also Geiger-Mller counter) Radiation beam angle of 5, 20, 40 for optimum installation mounting Source position is fixed at the source container, theft protection by padlock

PROFIBUS PA/DP and FOUNDATION Fieldbus PROFIBUS and FOUNDATION Fieldbus are open fieldbus standards. They have been specially designed for process engineering and process automation purposes. Endress+Hauser offers PROFIBUS and FOUNDATION Fieldbus instruments for level, pressure, flow, liquid analysis and temperature measurement as well as recording devices. Advantages: Standard is not dependent on a particular manufacturer Communication and power supply using two-wire technology Flexible topologies and bus structures
HART protocol, e.g. via remote inquiry In process instrumentation, the HART protocol has become the standard for SMART transmitters world-wide. Together with a Fieldgate, the HART protocol offers remote inquiry capability, remote diagnostics and remote programming. To this end, the Fieldgate uses the existing infrastructures of the Internet and software standards. Every Internet-compatible computer can request and represent measured values world-wide without any additional software. The Fieldgate offers transparency in production and supply processes and opens up new possibilities in inventory management e.g. time and cost optimized route planning for delivery vehicles.
Visualization and device configuration The P View visualization system is a highperformance and price-effective customer solution for process visualization. Measured tank values such as level or temperature are clearly depicted. FieldCare configuration and asset management software is based on the open FDT 1.2 standard (Field Device Tool) and provides easy access to field instruments from a central station irrespective of the manufacturer. FieldCare comprehensively supports engineering, configuration or setup and diagnosis of intelligent instruments. FieldCare makes an engineers life easier, e.g. from quick access to device manuals through to plant wide status monitoring of all field instruments.
420 mA
RN221N active galvanic barrier The RN221N provides galvanic isolation of 420 mA signal cables. It is used for the intrinsically safe operation of two-wire transmitters and to eliminate earthing problems.
RMA422 process transmitter The RMA422 receives and processes measurement signals. Its modular concept makes it the perfect process measurement transmitter e.g. as temperature transmitter, contactor or signal converter. Using the two input process values, other values can be calculated.
HAW562 spike or overvoltage protection The HAW562 protects 0/420 mA, PROFIBUS PA and PFM signal lines.
RIA452 process display The digital RIA452, with 7-digit bright multi-coloured LC display and pump control functions, receives measurement signals from most field devices and can be installed in control rooms or in panels throughout the plant.
RIA141 field display The RIA141 digital display in pressure sealed metal enclosure (explosionproof to EEx-d) is designed for installation in to a 420 mA power circuit and to make your process more visible and plant much safer.
