BRIEF To create a visual identity for vintage jewellery and clothing brand Vintage Luxe ran by designer Lauren Rose Cooley. With additional branding for the sub brand Tabby Rose which focuses on the clothing side. To be applied to stationery, packaging and an online presence.
CONCEPT As the style of jewellery and apparel that is designed is actually quite contemporary the branding needed to reflect that, which is why it works having the patterns within the branding, and a choice of colours that reflect the jewellery. The pattern within in the logo also makes it more bespoke.

Branding The branding needed to be unique to represent the style of jewellery and clothing that is designed. The idea of having a pattern gives a more personal touch to the logos. Both the Vintage Luxe and the Tabby Rose logos needed to work together as well as making sense on their own.
Pattern The pattern is made up from the lines and shapes that Lauren uses in her jewellery, theyre quite simple on their own but make an intricate pattern. For the Tabby Rose logo it made more sense to have it in one colour, so it still works with the Vintage Luxe logo but is slightly different.
Tabby Rose Tabby Rose is the sub brand which Lauren has created to sell her vintage clothing through, as she hasnt yet launched this she only required a logo for the time being.

bUSINESS cARDS Lauren only required business cards for Vintage Luxe, a simple design with a decent amount of white space as Lauren wanted to be able to leave notes or write on them. 500 Cards, 400gsm Matt laminated from rugbyprinter.co.uk

pACKAGING The Solo Feather Earring is the most popular item so it required bespoke packaging. There is 3 different ranges with a different colour, depending on which earring you buy. I also decided to go for the pouches and silver boxes for the bracelets as these worked better.
lABELS I would ideally like to have got the tags printed but for now we decided it would work just having clear labels stook onto the tags, these clear labels also worked for the inner part of the silver box lid as well.

Website Decided to submit a proposal for how the website would look as me and Lauren decided that I wouldnt be coding the website. The design needed to be really simple and match the overall feel of the rest of the branding. Decided to go for the logo and contact information in the centre of the page and making sure the website would work so that you wouldnt have to scroll, as all the information would be visible in one go. The menu would be visible on the home page but as soon as you click onto another page it is hidden until you next hover over it when it then appears for you to be able to click on another page. Although Lauren currently sells her work through her Etsy store, the proposal includes a shop page where you would be able to place an order through the website.

BRIEF To create a range of homeware that is designed with Spring & Summer 2014 colour and trend forecasts, that will have dinnerware made by Wedgwood and homeware & accessories that are exclusive to Selfridges.
CONCEPT The patterns in the dinnerware are created from Victorian architecture, but transformed into a contemporary pattern using 6 colours that are forecasted for Spring/Summer 2014.
DELIVERABLES Pattern / Dinnerware / Homeware / Instore Display / Packaging / Product Catalogue / Shop Window
Page 01 of 05
brief concept dELIVERABLES
Branding Each range of dinnerware has a different colour logo, but the patterns remain the same. The main logo is grey with the 6 core colours from the collection. The V represents it being the Victorian Collection but I still opted to brand it as the SS.14 Homeware Collection.
Pattern & colours The chosen colours within the patterns are forecast to be popular colours in 2014, as is Victorian Architecture and style. Combining the two, to create a contemporary collection. The colours have been mixed and matched across the ranges so that they work together as a set but also individually too.
Range There are three ranges, each one is slightly different dependent on the colours used and the size of the pattern. Natural Collection, Summer Brights and Botanical Collection. They all use a minimum 3 of the 6 colours.
Branding Pattern & Colours range
Dinnerware & Homeware The collection consists of three pieces of dinnerware, dinner plate, salad plate and cereal bowl a long with tablemats, coasters and tea towels. Although other products have been proposed on the price list.
Packaging The packaging is designed using a primary colour from each of the ranges. Using a gloss stock for the labels and wrapping the products using a selected colour of thin ribbon. This worked better than have full outer packaging as you can still see the patterns clearly.
Dinnerware & Homeware packaging
Instore As Wedgwood is a high end producer of dinnerware the shop interior needed to reflect that but also showcase the designs to their fullest. Installations in Selfridges tend to be quite quirky but it made sense to keep this sophisticated and have something quite different in the shop window.
sHOP wINDOW Selfridges are know for having really interesting shop windows so I proposed the idea of having the patterns cut out of large sheets of acrylic and suspended on clear wire, they would be a range different sizes and suspended at different heights.
Instore SHOP WINDOW
Catalogue The idea behind the catalogue is that it could be sent out to potential customers who shop in Selfridges, letting them know that the Spring Summer 2014 collection designed by Wedgwood would be sold exclusively in Selfridges. The catalogue consists of 20 pages and is A5 landscape. Mainly consisting of photographs of the products, there is also a short description of each of the ranges. I had sent the catalogue to print, but a delay in getting the proof and realising it wasnt correct meant the delivery time needed to be extended which is why I havent been able to photograph the final catalogue for the boards. Although this was quite frustrating, it has been an experience having to send files to print. The catalogue is to be printed by www.bookprintinguk.com. (When and if it eventually arrives)

BRIEF To create a visual identity and portfolio for final year BA (Hons) Photography student Natisha Greenaway who specialises in fashion photography.
CONCEPT Natisha knew exactly how she wanted the branding to look and was keen to have a typographic logo that would sit well with her photographs. She also wanted to ensure everything was black and white so it didnt detract from any of her photos.
DELIVERABLES Branding / Business Cards / Stationery / Online Portfolio / Printed Portfolio / Mini Promo cards
Page 01 of 05
brief concept dELIVERABLES
Business Cards Natisha had originally decided to have leather business cards as she is a fashion photographer but due to insufficient funds she then deicded to go for 500 matt laminated 400gsm cards, with rounded corners printed by rugbyprinter.co.uk
Mini promo cards As well as having her portfolio I also designed a mini promo pack which included 10 photographs, A5 size, with a business cards which were bound together by a metal ring. It works as it showcased 10 different photographs, has the relevant information and can also be taken apart to view the cards together.
Business Cards Mini Promo cards Stationery
pRINTED pORTFOLIO A selection of 15 of Natishas most recent photographs printed A4 on 170gsm Gloss stock with the title of each project printed onto trace. The cover is plain black but has 2 slits for a business card. Bound with a black slide binder - again its easy to put together and un bind to view the photographs together.
oNLINE PORTFOLIO Although the content for the online portfolio is identical to the printed one, we decided that it would be a good idea to upload it to Issuu so that the link could be emailed out rather than attaching a PDF everytime.

BRIEF Creating a visual identity and promotional material for Surface Pattern designer and Illustrator Elizabeth Rose Smith.
CONCEPT As a surface pattern designer Elizabeth wanted to ensure that the branding was quite simple and didnt clash with her work so we chose to go for a simple and subtle typographic logo.
brief concept dELIVERABLES
Business Cards Elizabeth chose two of her most recent prints for her business cards and we were able to order 100 cards from moo.com giving her 50 of each design. The cards have her website, which is directed to her blog.
Promo Pack Due to the amount of work that Elizabeth wanted to showcase we went for a 20 page publication. The second page includes information about herself and also has space for a CV which can be slotted into the cut outs (on the dotted diagonal lines) The other pages have a minimal amount of type as the main focus is on her work.

BRIEF Using the research gathered from my dissertation to raise awareness about Operation Bluestar which took place in India in 1984, through Amnesty International by creating a promotional pack that is sent out to Amnesty subscribers encouraging them to be a part of the campaign.
CONCEPT As the main focus of the campaign is about the media blackout and how it impacted people finding out about the attack it made sense to make all of the available imagery over pixelated to emphasise it. Orange is used throughout the design, as this is a significant colour of importance to Sikhs.

Publication The publication needed to be quite simple, it had to instantly attract someones attention and encourage them to want to know more about Operation Bluestar and to attend the remembrance march in London on the 9th June. It includes key facts and information about the attack and the aims set by Amnesty.
FORMAT & STOCK A total of 12 pages for the A5 publication, 170gsm Matt stock printed and bound by doxdirect.com. I chose to get some unbound at these included trace pages, and bound this myself, these were to be sent out in the bubble bags which included 10 posters and 50 flyers which could be distributed by the subscriber.
Publication Format & stock
Packaging As there are two slightly different publications, one pack which is a simple C5 orange envelope would just include the publication and 1 poster and flyer, whereas the bubble package would include 10 posters, and 50 flyers so that the information can be distributed further.
Distribution The packs would be sent out to Amnesty International subscribers who are keen to help stop human rights abuse. They will also be distributed at Amnesty International events across the UK and a PDF version will be available online.
Packaging Distribution
Flyers & postcards The flyers and postcards include information such as joining or donating to Amnesty as well as any topic or story that is relevant and needs to be shared, In this instance it is the petition to stop the execution of Devinderpal Signh Bhullar.
Posters The posters are designed to encourage people to attend the 1984 annual remembrance march that is held in Hyde Park, London on Sunday 9th June. It needed to be simple enough to attract individuals attention but gives a link to their website for more information.

This year Amnesty International will be supporting the annual remembrance march which brings together thousands of people in central London on Sunday 9th June 2013. The march will start in Hyde Park at 11am, and continue to Trafalgar Square, where there will be talks and seminars from local MPs, individuals directly affected and a range of other speakers.
November 1984, which sparked anti-Sikh riots across Delhi when the news made the headlines. These riots were directly linked to Operation Bluestar and highlighted how the government had so much control over what was reported in the media at the time. The riots again saw the deaths of thousands of innocent Sikhs. To this day people have been fighting for justice, for those they lost in the attack and those who today are still being affected by the aftermath of the attack.

Calendar The idea behind the beauty calendar was to focus on having 3 products that would be Must Have products for that month, whether they had a theme or product launches from particular brands. The calendar is printed onto bulky newsprint and is 210mm x 420mm and wiro bound. The calendar also includes the website where you can purchase that product as well as a section for notes. A proposed idea would be that if you purchase a particular product for that month you could enter a discount code that would entitle you to 10% off.

LEEDS COLLEGE OF ART 2012-2013
BRIEF Working with Sarah Pritchard, Lisa Whitaker and Bethany Yates to design the Interior Design Yearbook.
CONCEPT As we had been given the 210mm x 210mm fold out poster format we came up with the idea of the using the layout and design used on architectural/interior drawings and adapting this to fit thumbnails of students work as well as the other course and staff information with a typographic poster on the reverse side.
PDF & PRINT Sarah came up with and developed the layout for the concept, and added all of the information, content and thumbnails to the design. I worked on the reverse side of the print out, designing the type poster. I also worked with Sarah to finalise some of the layouts in the PDF. The photographs above show how the spreads would have worked in an actual printed publication.

More recently she project managed a design team across three countries that was awarded second prize in an International competition to redesign the global corporate identity for Audi car showroom interiors. The entry was praised for having the best overall concept and for most successfully integrating sustainable materials into the scheme.

Ruth Liddell
Starting with conceptual work and experimentation, using a lot of drawing and 3D work enhanced by software, pushing boundaries and possibilities, the design emerges. Incorporating sustainability is key throughout the process. Authenticity comes from my own experiences, understanding and influences.

BRIEF Working in a collective of 8 designers to promote ourselves as the Geek Table and our work whilst working on 4 individual 1 week briefs that showcased our talents, skills and personalities.
CONCEPT The main aims of the collective were to be able to promote ourselves and our skills and to be able to work together on projects and be able to gain feedback on our work collectively.

Publication Me and Claudia were responsible for gathering the content and putting together the Geek Table publication, which featured each individuals information and 1 response from the weekly briefs that we had set. Myself and Claudia worked together to decide on the format and layout of the publication. As a group we decided to use the Newspaper Club to print the publication. The publication is designed to be sent out to studios as promotional material showcasing out skills as a collective but also showing out individual design direction.

wEEKLY bRIEFS We decided to set weekly briefs which would give us the chance to produce a piece of work relevant to our design practice depending on particular themes or restricts. We also had weekly crits where we were able to get together and gain feedback on our responses to the set briefs.
bRIEF 1 What does geek mean to you? I chose to create a typographic response which is made up of all the things that are relevant to the geek table or things that we may have said over the past 3 years.
bRIEF 2 How do you get in the zone? The one thing that gets me in the zone is listening to music, especially dubstep and drum & bass. My response was based on the lyrics from the song by Knife Party titled Centipede, which I had on repeat whilst writing my dissertation.

BRIEF 3 Guilty Pleasures As a beauty blogger and makeup fanatic, it made sense to showcase my guilty pleasure as cosmetics. I created these simple vector illustrations to represent my favourite cosmetic products.
bRIEF 4 What would be your alter ego? I couldnt decide between being a nail artist or interior designer, and considering so many people think I study interior design I chose to make myself an interior designer for the day and create my dream living/dining space.

Colour Each of the colours used represents the different varieties in the range of Douwe Egberts Pure Coffees. This ensures each of the adverts is relevant to a particular strength of coffee as well as creating a series of different advertisements that still work together. Type Gotham Light Book Medium Bold

The different weights of the typeface are used to represent the strength of the coffee.
BRIEF To try and make Dowue Egberts more appealing to a wider audience, and encouraging them to drink Dowue Egberts rather than buying
CONCEPT We wanted Douwe Egberts Coffee to be something that people could reach for at any time of day. Taking the Pure Instant range we worked on creating a campaign that showed how each of the 4 varieties could be relevant for certain situations during the day whether it be when you missed the bus, meeting the boss or even working towards a deadline. We came up with the slogan Coffee Time, make the perfect coffee in an instant and designed a range of posters and advertisements that would encourage people to want to drink Dowue Egberts.

Adverts Each of the adverts for the coffee is different according to the context. For instance the Early morning billboard works well as it will be see on a journey to work. For each of the varieties the relevant jar of coffee is slightly enlarged in the bottom right corner - this ensures that all 4 of the jars are seen together whilst the jar relevant to the advertisement stands out more. The strapline Make the perfect coffee in an instant is used for each advert too.

BRIEF Myself, Bethany Yates and Claudia Griffin had teamed up to pitch for the Leeds College of Art Graduate Fashion show.
CONCEPT We came up with the idea of what goes on behind the scenes at a fashion show, and we wanted to use behind the scenes photography for the posters and advertising, whilst keeping the invites just type based with a photo and the branding on the other side.

Photoshoot Rather than using stock imagery, we decided to set up a fashion shoot so that we could decided exactly which types of images we wanted to use. Beth was the model, whilst Claudia was the makeup artist, hairdresser and stylist and I took the photographs and edited them for the products.

bRIEF To create an online portfolio website for Ella Ruth Photography, showcasing her latest photography and a relevant pages for contact information.
wEBSITE The website is quite simple, and is created by editing a Cargo Collective template. We decided to use Cargo as it would allow Ella to update her content quite easily whenever she needed to rather than having to depend on me doing it. At the moment she has 6 pages, 4 of which showcase her work. As you click to each page there are thumbails for each photograph and slide show which you can look through, but as you click on each photograph it brings up lightbox, as this was already embded into the cargo template it was quite easy to modify to how Ella wanted it to look.

bRIEF A one day brief set by myself and Sarah Pritchard, combining our love of Batman and typography to create a series of prints which use batman quotes that have been converted into typographic and design quotes instead.
Stock We went for 4 different stocks, trace, white, grey and a metallic silver, really just to experiment and see how they would work. We both found that the metallic silver stock worked best and suited the concept best.
