A Study To enhance the Image among the public on Tamilnadu State transport corporation by Employee empowerment in Erode District Synopsis "An empowered organization is one in which individuals have the knowledge, skill, desire, and opportunity to personally succeed in a way that leads to collective organizational success." --Stephen Covey. A primary goal of employee empowerment is to give workers a greater voice in decisions about work-related matters. Their decision-making authority can range from offering suggestions to exercising veto power review, and over management decisions. Possible areas include: how jobs are to be performed, working conditions, company policies, work hours, peer how supervisors are evaluated. First, empowerment can strengthen motivation by providing employees with the opportunity to attain intrinsic rewards from their work, such as a greater sense of accomplishment and a feeling of importance. Intrinsic rewards such as job satisfaction and a sense of purposeful work can be more powerful than extrinsic rewards such as higher wages or bonuses. Solutions resulting from employee involvement tend to have more employee buy-in when it comes to implementation. Because such solutions are generated from the front lines, this further enhances the potential for productivity improvements by reducing the attitude that solutions are "passed down from above." The research problem addresses the issue of learning taking place on broad walks of life and not just in formal contexts. Learning so obtained attracts limited formal recognition. The objective of the research is aimed at developing a system whereby structure could be given to such learning, for inclusion in formal human capital management systems. The researcher considers amongst other the role of organizational objectives, in determining required skills. It is suggested that required human capital could be benchmarked against formal learning programs. The research also probes the possibility of using such a system to determine specific skills gaps. Collectively, the research is contextualized within the relevance of a Corporate Qualifications Framework , a system that measures human capital in terms of a strategic plan. A Corporate Qualifications Framework operates on three principles the required human capital (demand side), the actual human capital (supply side) and the gap between the two. The demand side consists of job descriptions, qualifications and occupational profiles. Supply side standards

are used to measure actual human capital by means of performance management, performance assessment and the recognition of prior learning. This research which is mainly going to be based on the primary data collected from the public on what are being expected by them to have a positive image on the government public transport system , and the ability of the employees to cater their expectations. This study will be further strengthened by the data on employee empowerment available in the Tamilnadu State Transport corporation , so that what is expected by the public can be effectively provided by the transport corporation. ************************
