Targeted to maximum expense of Rs 10,000/. This project is not expected to entail any particular environmental consequences. This project aims for surveillance and security, hence for the .Welfare of the society. This project is not expected to entail ethical constraints. This project is not expected to entail health and safety constraints except in the use of lead-bearing solder in its assembly . This project must be easily replicated. This requires complete schematics, complete and documented code listings, bill of materials, and circuit-board artwork - ORCAD -produced in a file format accessible by software available at Simulation Lab. The resources used in this project ( printed-circuit board material, solder, integrated circuits composed primarily of silicon and epoxy packaging) are essentially non-recoverable.

The resources used in this project (glass-reinforced printed-circuit board material, solder, integrated circuits composed primarily of silicon and epoxy packaging) are essentially non-recoverable. Sustainability should not, however, pose a major constraint for this project given the small amounts of materials required.

Objective: To make a cheap prototype which can detect driver fatigue by sensing the loss of pressure applied on the steering wheel. This design will not be subject to removal as it will be integrated around the circumference of the steering wheel itself. Pressure based sensor would detect the loss of pressure (on the steering wheel) and an alarm would be triggered to make the driver realize that he is fatigued and is not in an alert state as he should be. It is low cost automotive active safety systems that aim at detecting drivers fatigue, which is a major issue to prevent road accidents. PIC Microcontroller (16F877A) - Rs.292.50 /CAN Controller (MCP 2515) - Rs. 108 /CAN Transceiver (MCP 2551) - Rs. 63 /Total Cost of a Project Rs. 2000 /Not Applicable Not Applicable Not Applicable It is safe than the other methods which include physiological parameters based on the signals from the driver. (by attaching electrodes) It is easy to design and integrated around the circumference of a steering wheel itself. Since it is integrated to the steering itself it will not to be subject to removable and it can be sustain for long time.
