Followingcommissioning,undertakeawitnessinspectionoftheoperationofthewetfire systems.EnsuretheQFRS,ConsultingEngineerandEstateOfficerepresentativearein attendance. Asaminimum,provetotheirsatisfaction: Thefirepumpoperatesasrequired Therequiredflowsandpressuresareachievedinthewetfiresystems Rectifyanydefectsidentified.Shouldreinspectionberequired,theContractorshallbear associatedcosts. 29.2.6.4 MaintenanceRequirements Allconstruction/installationcontractsshallallowfortheperformanceofregular preventivemaintenanceoftheworksduringtheperiodofthedefectsliabilityperiod inclusiveofallconsumables. Suchmaintenanceshallbeinaccordancewiththemanufacturersinstructionsandthe requirementsoftheWorkplaceHealthandSafetyAct,Standardsorotherapplicable regulations,legislation,orcodesofpractice. Thewetfiresystemmaintenanceshallbecarriedoutnotlessfrequentlythanmonthly. Lifesafetysystemsshallbemaintainedandrecordedasaminimumtorelevant requirements(e.g.AS1851). 29.2.6.5 DefectsLiability TheDefectsLiabilityperiodshallbeaminimumof12monthsfromthedateofPractical completionoracceptanceofthesystemsbytheEstateOffice.Longerperiodsmaybe specifiedonaprojectspecificbasis. FIREhydrantOverarchingPrinciples

FirehydrantservicedesignmustbeinaccordancewiththerequirementsofTheNational ConstructionCode(BCA)PartE1.3&AS2419.1. Firehydrantsystemsshallbedesignedtoensurethatthesystemperformanceshallbesufficientto supplytheflowandpressuresattheapplicablenumberofmostremotehydrantsforthebuildingin accordancewithAS2419.1andthelocalfirebrigaderequirements. Authorityrequirementsforallwetfireservicesoverandabovetherequirementsoftherelevant AustralianStandardsmustbeadheredtofollowingconsultationwiththerelevantQFRSbuilding assessmentofficerandincludedintheDDreport. UnlessotherwisespecifiedbytheUniversity,hydrantsystemsshallbewetpipesystems. 29.3.2 firehydrantserviceDesignguidance

Thewatersupplydesignforfirehydrantservicesshallbeprovidedviaadedicatedwaterserviceto thebuildingisolatedbydoublecheckvalveslocatedinanaccessibleapprovedposition. HyenaHydrauliccalculationsshallbeincludedintheSDandDDreportsandreviewedbythe Universitypriortosystemsinstallation. Allfirehydrantservicedesignsshallspecifythatbeforecommencinganyinstallations,FireServices ContractorsshallprovideevidencetotheuniversitythattheyaredulyregisteredwiththeFire ProtectionContractorsRegistrationBoardofQueensland,andhavesuchlicencesasrequiredby Statelegislation. Firehydrantservicedesignsshallensureafulltownsorsitecampuswatermainsflowandpressure testspecifictotheprojectsiteisobtainedpriortothedesignofanywetfireservice.Flowand pressuretestingresultsshouldbeverifiedbytheinstallingcontractorpriortothecommencementof works. Fire Hose Reels are to be 36 Metres in length. System design coverage shall be provided where requiredinaccordancewithSpecificationE1.5oftheBCAandAS2441. AllHosereelsaretobedesignedwithatestedGateValvefittedtoallowtheremovalofthefirehose reelforservicingandorreplacement. Extendedswivelarmsshallbeallowedforwiththedesignwherehosereelsareinstalledinside recessedareas,insidecupboardsorcabinets. Wherefirehosereelsaretobeexposedtodirectsunlightandweatherandnototherwisehousedin asuitableenclosuredesignsshouldincludeapurposebuiltcabinet/cupboardtobeprovided.Floor mountingbracketsshallbeutilizedonlywhereotherformsofmounting/supportarenotavailable.
