Caterpillar C-Series Mining Trucks provide world class mining operations with the lowest cost per ton haulage solution. Operator efficiency is a major component of machine productivity. With the operator in mind, we have improved the trucks ease of operation by providing a comfortable, efficient, and safe environment to ensure maximized productivity. Operators can now direct their complete attention to machine control, knowing they have the best in operating convenience and comfort. Starting with the easier and more adjustable air suspension seat, the operator will find the C-Series trucks deliver unsurpassed comfort and control.

Electric operators window control works at the touch of a finger.

The hand falls naturally to the contoured gear shift lever with backlit gear indicators. The right armrest comfortably cradles the arm. The narrower shift console contains the parking brake control no longer does the operator have to search for the lever when parking under the shovel.

The retarder control is new. It is used to modulate engagement of the service brakes on all four wheels more precisely.

Pedal controls have easier and more natural actuation for less fatigue. The secondary brake is now a pedal control.

The high contrast backlit dash panel is pleasing to the eyes and clearly legible. In the middle of the panel are eight dash indicators, the four gauge cluster module, and the speedometer/tachometer module. On the right of the panel are the rocker switches which control the following: throttle backup, ether starting aid, Automatic Retarder Control (ARC), brake retraction, Traction Control System (TCS) test, panel light switch, and air conditioner/heater. Also on the panel is a lighter which can be used for 12-volt accessories. Repositioned switches are conveniently within reach. Improved airflow and a more efficient design permit better serviceability and temperature modulation.

The sure grip padded steering wheel is telescopic and tiltable with an integrated electrically actuated horn.

The new intermittent wiper/washer control features an integrated turn signal indicator and dimmer switch.

The VIMS (Vital Information Management System) message center display and operator keypad are located to the right of the rocker switch array. VIMS monitors vital machine systems and functions continuously and alerts operators to conditions which do not meet specifications. The operator can also manually check the status of over 70 system sensors.

Clear sight lines out toward the haul road and within to the enhanced instrument panel increase visibility. Actual gear, engine speed, and VIMS status are within a quick glance. The wider cab provides greater legroom. A full-size air suspension trainer seat is also available as an option.

The fingertip hoist control with built-in snubbing is now electronically controlled for greater ease of operation.

Excellent all-around visibility and improved heating and air conditioning reduce operator strain and fatigue, allowing for confident maneuvering in a wide range of production situations. Operator comfort and improved machine controls blend together to offer the best in production efficiency. The sound-suppressed ROPS/FOPS cab is resiliently mounted to the frame and isolates the operator from sound and vibration. The sound level is less than 80 dBA in the operator compartment. The attractive gray and black cab is radio ready and provides more storage space than ever before.

Storage space is available under the trainer seat.

Above the operators head are switches for hazard lights, headlights, parking/ taillights, fog lights, and front flood/ladder lights.

To improve serviceability, the circuit breaker panel is conveniently positioned behind the operator. This replaces the fuse panel used on the B trucks. A 12-volt/5-amp power port, the VIMS diagnostic connector, and the Cat Data Link connector are located on the same panel, making it more convenient for the operator to plug in his laptop computer to receive diagnostic and production information.
