HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Chron. 22-24; John 12 Monday, June 3 2 Tim. 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, Gracious God My Savior: Oh that you would call __________ and __________ to salvation in your Son! Since salvation starts with your calling it forbids all trust in my own work, and steers me to Christ alone for salvation. Yet afterwards, this same calling purges me from dead works to serve the true and living God. 2 Cor. 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. Since you are holy, and you have called me, make me more holy like yourself. I may fall into sin, but I cannot live in sin if Im called. Call me away from sin today. This is the panting of my heart. Phil. 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Make my calling the highest calling. Let it set my affections on things above. Make it elevate my hopes and expand my dreams, my tastes, and my desires for what I can do for you! Give me an ennobling faith that makes me want to spend my life with you, on you, and for you. Heb. 3:1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, I have received a call from heaven, not from a priest or even a pastor. It is a call to heaven as well as from heaven. I am a tent-dweller here (because that is just what my body is), and look for a city whose builder and maker is God. Such is the calling you give to your people. Use me to deliver that call to others who have not your heart, and glorify Jesus in opening their ears to the call. Amen. A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Chron. 31-33; John 15 Thursday, June 6 Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS LIFE Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Chron. 25-27; John 13 Tuesday, June 4 Matt. 15:23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. Gracious God and Father: I know someone just like this lady! They tell me they feel like they tried to approach you, but got no response. Maybe I can remind them about this story, where you did not immediately bestow the blessing, even though the woman had great faith to seek it. Maybe I can encourage them that even though you intend to give it, you still may wait awhile and cause them to seek you with their whole heart. How many times have I seen you do that in my own life? Her prayers were good. Her case was needy. She felt her distress and desperate dependence sufficientlyeven overwhelmingly! She was intensely earnest, and had faith that made even you wonder. Faith brings peace, but not always instantly. You may have good reasons that call for the trying of our faith. Certainly, anyone who ever believed Jesus COULD save them SHOULD keep on seeking him. O Lord, make the faith of __________ and __________ blossom and bud this week. Give them grace to come to church with me and seek you again if they have ever been willing to seek you before. Some people, like the Philippian jailor, are turned from darkness to light in a moment. But others are plants that grow slower. The seed has to be watered for a while before it germinates. A deeper sense of sin is required. Lord, give me patience to work with them, pray for them, and keep witnessing to them. I still believe in the love of your heart though it sometimes sounds like silence. I will not give up seeking and trusting you for the salvation of anyone. I will depend on you even where there is no evidence your Spirit is working. Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Chron. 34-36; John 16 Friday, June 7 Dan. 6:10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime. O Holy Father: Some forms of spiritual life are not absolutely essential, but prayer is the essence of our spirituality. How will we accomplish your mission if we do not pray? Prayer draws-down your ear when you seem to stand far away. Prayer breaks down the walls of seeming coincidence and turns our entire lifes journey into a play directed by Providence. Dan. 6:3 Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm. An excellent spirit, abundant in prayer. Cant we be the same? As Daniel remembered his people who were in exile, we are called to remember those who are in bonds. How many there are in prison that need to be prayed for. It grieved Daniel that his city was laid waste. Does it grieve us that the destroyer, drug dealer and alcohol abuser stalks our streets? Oh that we might have listened at Daniels keyhole and heard his intercessions! Daniel mingled thanksgiving with all his prayers. We have such poor and pitiful devotion when we are always receiving, but never reflecting a grateful attitude. Prayers in which there is no thanksgiving are surely selfish things. Prayer and praise are the process by which we accomplish your plan. Prayer drinks in deep breaths of grace and love, and praise breathes it out again. When sincere desires and longing are mingled with adoration it forms a sweet incense of many spices. Daniel was exalted to worldly prosperity, but he knew he could stand in it only by prayer. Make us dare to be a Daniel! Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Chron. 28-30; John 14 Wednesday, June 5 Eph. 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; Heavenly Father and Holy King: Parents can injure their children for eternity unless you prevent it. Especially when they are young, the parents are like god to them. Their conduct is shaped according to the adults pattern. Give us a radical holiness, not just in the work-room, but right around the kitchen table! There are many who, looking back have to say, Thank God I was delivered from the evil influences I had as a child. Do not let my children physical or spiritualhave to say that about me. Give me grace to walk with a perfect heart within my own house. Give me radical holiness there! How will I be today? What will I be to my employer, coworkers, children, spouse, neighbors, and family? God, by your infinite grace and by the power of the Holy Ghost, help me walk with a perfect heart at such times and in such places that I honor your church, glorify you, and blessing comes to my own soul. This is revival and I need it. To open my Bible and break-down the promises, that is sweet work, but I also need the precepts. I need to live the principles as well as rely on the promises. We will never have good growth in an unholy church. We will never have revival without radical holiness. The greatest power in the world, next to the ministry of the word, is the holy living of Christian families and singles by the power of the Holy Spirit. Let us plant holiness in this dark world of sin! This is the means whereby the world will really be conquered for Christ. What a challenge! I need you. God give me grace, and sense enough to see I need wisdom to steer myself, and this wisdom only comes from your word. I bend my knee to say, Lord, give me a renewed heart and radical holiness today. Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: Ezra 1-3; John 17 Saturday, June 8 Psa. 106:25 But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD. Righteous Lord and Master: It is a short and mostly natural step to go from unbelief to complaining. Whining and distrust are cousins, and it is time I confessed that complaining is a great sinnot just a weaknessbecause it contains pride, rebellion, mistrust, and a whole host of contention. Complaining is a home sin usually practiced by complainers in their tents. And thats a shame, because then it affects the mood and attitude of the whole family, and is just as bad as evil in the streets. So I see Lord, why it brings you so much grief. Psa. 106:30 Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed. In this Psalm, new sins bring new diseases, so I know when your people invent sins, then you are not slow to invent chastisements. Phinehas stood up and intervened, and I am glad Lord, that you still have your champions. Let me be one of those who, in the worst of times, steps forward into the gap. Make my faith perform heroics. Psa. 106:45 And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies. May my prayer hold back your hand from judgment. May my prayer give you a reason to show grace when chastening seems to be due. Pity us, for you never shut out our petitions. Since you have a Fathers heart, may the sight of my sorrows touch your soul. Wean me from my idols so I desire only to glorify your name. Do this for Jesus sake and glory. Amen.

WE have heard the joyful sound: Jesus saves! Jesus saves!

Spread the tidings all around: Jesus saves! Jesus saves! Bear the news to every land, climb the mountains, cross the waves; Onward! tis our Lords command; Jesus saves! Jesus saves! Waft it on the rolling tide: Jesus saves! Jesus saves! Tell to sinners far and wide: Jesus saves! Jesus saves! Sing, you islands of the sea; echo back, you ocean caves; Earth shall keep her jubilee: Jesus saves! Jesus saves! Sing above the battle strife: Jesus saves! Jesus saves! By His death and endless life Jesus saves! Jesus saves! Shout it brightly through the gloom, when the heart for mercy craves; Sing in triumph oer the tomb: Jesus saves! Jesus saves! Give the winds a mighty voice: Jesus saves! Jesus saves! Let the nations now rejoice: Jesus saves! Jesus saves! Shout salvation full and free; highest hills and deepest caves; This our song of victory: Jesus saves! Jesus saves! Priscilla J. Owens, 1882

TIMEWORSHIP Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
