Gorgeous Geek Chapter XXII: The Knight's Tale

Chapter XXII: The Knight's Tale

"Yo." Sitting on top of the staircase of the main building, four Asian girls turned their heads to the male standing in front of them. One of them was Tiffany Wu with long, straight black hair and dark round eyes. Another was Julie Cheng with curly hair tied in a low ponytail and in a white, dress. The third and fourth girls were under the names of Karen Tangtam and Helen Seong. Karen had short, fuzzy black hair. Helen had bangs and layered, long hair. "Your name is Bo Sungwoo right?" asked Karen Tangtam, tilting her head to the side with bright, enthusiastic eyes. "Bobby is fine," said Bo with a wide grin. "I can't believe I get to meet the infamous Gossip Asian Girls in person. What can I do for you ladies?" "I heard you left your group," said Helen in a business-like tone. "I did two hours ago," said Bo, surprised. "Word does spread fast." "Indeed," said Helen, crossing her long legs. Karen sat next to her with Tiffany and Julie behind them. "I want to know why. There have been so many rumors so I want to find out the truth." "No reason," said Bo, widening his grin. "I found a new best friend, that's all." "You mean the hot new freshman Jin-Kyong Song?" asked Julie excitedly, clasping her hands together. "Isn't he your neighbor Tiff? You're so lucky!" The Chinese girl flushed softly. "He is." "Yes, him," said Bo, walking up to them and standing against the nearby wall. "What else can I do for you girls?" "I heard you fell in love with Rin Hamada I believe?" asked Helen, lifting a brow. "Is that rumor false then?" Tiffany's eyes widened. "Jin's best friend?" Julie gasped and held onto Tiffany. "Really? Is she pretty?" "She's okay," said Karen, holding up her fingers. "A five." "Only?" asked Julie, tilting her head. "That's not a lot is it?" "In any case," said Bo in interruption. "No, I don't see her that way. She's the leader of my group and that's all. There's nothing else to it. I listen to her because she's my boss... she's like my Queen." "Interesting," said Helen, still staring at Bo suspiciously. "Can I take a picture of Rin Hamada for our notebook?" asked Julie, holding her hand up enthusiastically. "I want to do it! I want to do it!"

"Sure," said Karen, waving Julie off. "You do it then." "Be careful Julie," said Tiffany warningly, giving the girl a firm look. "You tend to trip down stairs for no reason." "I know Tiff!" cried Julie happily, skipping down the stairs nevertheless. "Take me to your Queen, Bobby! I want to meet her myself!" "Julie, watch out," said Tiffany suddenly. Like Tiffany exclaimed, Julie managed to tumble down the steps. Bo's eyes widened. However, it wasn't he who caught her in time. Instead, a boy who was chatting nearby saw what happened and ran over in time to catch her in the air. Now, Julie was sitting on top of his back, groaning. "I'm so sorry!" cried Julie apologetically. "It's okay," said the male with a quick smile. Julie jumped off his back and helped him up. "The real question is... are you okay?" Julie laughed. "Perfectly fine! Thank you... what's your name?" The young boy gave her a brilliant smile. "Kristian Shiratori." "Julie Cheng," said Julie, holding out her hand. Kristian shook it, which caused her to flush brightly. "What a strong handshake! Are you an athlete?" "I am pretty decent in karate," said Kristian, releasing her hand much to her disappointment and flicking a look backwards to the three males behind him. They were watching him closely. "If dancing counts, I'll say that too. To be truthful, I've never danced before but I'm sure I can become good at it if I have a willing partner." "Is that so?" asked Julie, interested. "Nice meeting you Julie," said Kristian, licking his lips and turning around. "I'll catch you later sometime. If you need any help, ask away. Let's not be a stranger to each other am I right?" After Kristian went back to his group, Julie gasped and turned around for the other three girls' opinion. Tiffany shrugged. Karen held up eight fingers. Helen made a motion that resembled taking a snapshot. Giggling, Julie bounced next to Bo to the classroom where Rin and Jin were supposed to. All the meanwhile, she told him that she would take up dancing lessons. "But he's in a younger grade isn't he?" asked Julie, pouting. Bo grinned. "There are only three Japanese in this school and two of them are freshmen. It's a safe bet that he's a freshman." "Do you think it's weird for an older girl to like a younger guy?" asked Julie innocently, tapping her fingers together. She kept rewinding her encounter of the cool, Japanese freshman in her mind. "Not necessarily," said Bo, clasping his hands behind his back. "Age doesn't matter in love right? I hope not at least." Julie giggled. "I am starting to believe love at first sight. This is so exciting!" "Same," said Bo quietly to himself.

***************************** "Kristian!" Rin shrieked out her boyfriend's name as she tried to pull his cell phone out of his right hand. All her attempts to steal his cell phone were futile. However, Kristian had two advantages over her- he was stronger and taller. Soon enough, he held his cell phone high up in the air. Rin glared at him. Sensing her giving up, Kristian smirked and turned his head back to the road in front of him. "I'm driving, Rin-chan," said Kristian in reminder. "You shouldn't attack me or else I might crash and kill us all." "You texting in the middle of your driving will kill us all!" "Actually," said Kristian, licking his lips and tapping his right hand against the wheel. "I wouldn't mind killing us both. We can die together." Rin growled."Who wants to die with you?" Out of the blue, Kristian's cell phone started ringing. It was a heavy rap song. Kristian smirked and turned it on speaker. He placed it in between them. Since Kristian wasn't trying to talk to his ear, Rin didn't try to steal it this time. Much to her surprise though, the caller ID was... "Hey sexy," said Kristian, making a quick kissing noise. "What's up old man?" "Where are you brat? At your girlfriend's house?" Kristian glanced at Rin, who was suddenly silent. "I'm driving. She's here." "Hey there." Flushing bright red, Rin gasped. "Hello sir!" "So formal," said the voice on the other line. "Are you calling me old?" "No, not at all," said Rin, glancing over at Kristian for help. "You are old, old man," said Kristian, saving Rin and laughing. "I'm the better looking one for sure. Your time is over, old man." "Should you talk like that to your father?" asked Rin in a fierce whisper. "So?" asked Kristian out loud, surprised. "Dad's cool. Right Dad?" "Who's old?" asked Kristian's father, amused. "I can still beat your ass, boy." "Dad," said Kristian, groaning. "The phone is on speaker. My girlfriend Rin-chan here can hear everything you're saying. If you say something crude, what will she think of me and my family?" "Rin-chan is it?" asked Kristian's father out loud. Rin nodded, forgetting that she was communicating over the phone. Kristian grumbled that his father completely ignored him. "Are you Japanese girl?" "I am," said Rin, shaking slightly. "What's your last name Missy?" Rin bit her lip. "Hamada."

"Are you related to Ren Hamada?" At the name, Rin's eyes widened dramatically. "That's... my father." Now, it was Kristian's turn to gape at her. "What the fuck? Dad, why do you know everybody? Shit!" "There are not a lot of Japanese over here," said Kristian's father calmly. "Did you know that Ren used to go to Wilson High, Missy?" Rin nodded and realized it this time. "Yes, I do." "How is he anyways? What is that bastard doing now?" At the question, Rin's eyes dropped. "He's fine... I assume." There was an uneasy silence. Rin didn't say anything. Kristian didn't say anything. At last, the man on the other line laughed really hard. It shocked both of them. They glanced at each other at lost for a reply. "So you are really Ren's child?" asked a playful voice. "No doubt about it," said Rin, nervous now. "Fuck," said Kristian's father. "Wait until Mel hears this." "Mel?" asked Rin, questioning Kristian. "Mom," said Kristian automatically. "Why are you telling Mom, Dad?" "She still communicates with that Ren Hamada," said Kristian's father, laughing. "Wait until she hears that Missy here is related to her high school friend." "Actually, Mister Shiratori..." said Rin, biting her lip. "Mister Romano," said Kristian's father in correction. "Mister Romano," said Rin, fixing herself. "If it's possible, I don't want anyone to know about my father and I. It's for the best I think. I haven't seen him in years. I don't want him to... call me or anything." Again, silence. This time, it was Kristian to break it. "Yeah, Dad, you know how it is right? Let's not butt in into other people's business. Rin-chan has her reasons yeah? And you're a busy guy, Dad, so you should go and do your thing." "What happen to Ren?" asked Mr. Romano, suspicious now. "I..." said Rin, unhappy at the question. "He..." "I hate to interrupt," said Jezebelle, sitting up from behind. Kristian and Rin jumped, remembering her presence in the car. She had been sleeping in the back of the car the entire time. "But can we hurry and get the fuck out of here? I'm suffocating here! Drive faster Shiratori!" "Two girls in the same car," said Kristian's father. "It's not what you think, Dad," said Kristian quickly. "Nice," said Kristian's father. Kristian groaned. "Very nice. That's my boy. Good luck with that, brat. You don't have to come home tonight. I'll tell Mel not to cook for you. Have fun!" "Wait Dad!"

Kristian's father hung up on him. Both girls stared at him with daggers in their eyes. Kristian laughed and returned his full attention to the road. Rin muttered a curse word under her breath and wrapped her arms across her chest. Jezebelle was more amused than mad so she went back to lie down in the back seats. "Rin-chan," said Kristian in a soft voice. Rin glanced at him, daring him to say anything. "My parents went to Wilson High in the old days." "I see," said Rin quietly. "They knew my father." "Yeah," said Kristian, nodding. "I don't know your dad but your mom was pretty cool. She raised you well. There's nothing to think about. Just ignore Dad said anything." "It's fine," said Rin, trying hard to smile. "It's still pretty cool your parents knew my father though." "Pretty cool indeed," said Kristian, thankful that Rin was taking this well. Now, he shifted his attention to Jezebelle in the back. She was checking her fingernails."But seriously, Tilly, must you say something in the middle of the phone call? Can't you wait until we're done?" "Like I give a shit," said Jezebelle, grouchy. She sat up straight. "I want to get out of this car already! It's so hot in here! Jesus Christ!" "Why am I driving her again?" asked Kristian to Rin. "We can't leave her stranded at the tennis courts!" cried Rin, shocked that Kristian had to ask her. "I didn't ask for help," said Jezebelle, annoyed. Kristian glanced back at Jezebelle. "See? Ungrateful." "Still," said Rin stubbornly. "Whatever," said Jezebelle, laying back down and holding her cell phone against her chest. "I don't care where you two take me as long as I don't return back home any time soon." "Why?" asked Rin curiously. Jezebelle smirked deviously. "I want to see how that yogurt react to me missing." "Can't he just call you to ask for your whereabouts?" asked Kristian, keeping his eyes on the road still. "No," said Jezebelle happily in a baby voice. "He doesn't have my cell number!" "Jin will worry a lot," said Rin, frowning. "I believe that's the point, Rin-chan," said Kristian in a comforting voice to her. "Tilly is teaching Jin a lesson. I actually can't wait to see how this plays out. Tilly, what are you planning to do exactly?" "Go missing for a couple of hours," said Jezebelle, shrugging. "I like this," said Kristian, stopping at last in front of Bo's house. Rin gave him directions earlier. Kristian placed his arm around Rin's car seat and leaned over to him. "Let's keep Tilly around and keep it a secret from Jin. I really want to see if he'll call the police or something. That'll make my day."

"He's not going to call the police," said Jezebelle, pushing her chest forward in between the two up front. "He'll probably freak out and run around the house, trying to find me first. Drama queen first, calm boyfriend second." "Wouldn't it be fun if we leave him a ransom note?" asked Kristian, licking his lips. "And say what?" asked Jezebelle in retort. "A kidnapping," said Kristian, smirking. Jezebelle followed suit. "Shiratori kidnapped me after he stole his best friend. I like this. Let's blow this shit out of proportion!." "I need to see Bo," said Rin, interrupting the two completely. Jezebelle and Kristian noticed that Rin already left the car and only poked her head in. Rin tried to smile. "You two have fun with your plans. I won't say anything. I'll call if I need to be picked up, okay? Talk to you later Kristian." "Bye-" said Kristian quickly when Rin closed the door already. "-Rin-chan." "You are leaving your woman at another man's house?" asked Jezebelle in dismay. "She obviously didn't want me to come," said Kristian, staring after Rin. She was accepted into the house. "It would make me look back if I beg to do so." Jezebelle left the car and sat up front. "What a pussy." "I did what you want me to do," said Kristian quietly, folding his hands on his lap. Jezebelle narrowed her eyes at him. "I am taking care of everything so you can take my word for it." "Fuck you," said Jezebelle, flinging her hair backwards and looking out the window. "You're making it sound like I made you do it. You would have done it anyway. Don't make yourself sound innocent in all this. You know you want those two to break up from the very beginning. I'm just giving you an extra push." "How ironic," said Kristian, turning on the engine. "Why does it look like I benefit while you don't? What are you up to Tilly?" "Like I'll tell you," said Jezebelle arrogantly. Kristian chuckled. "We're not all that different, Tilly. If you're a bitch, I'm a dick." Jezebelle laughed vulgarly at Kristian's comment, not caring to disagree. "I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get what I want. What about you Tilly?" "Do I even have to answer that?" Licking his lips, Kristian stepped on the accelerator. "Screw it. I've been bitching about myself too long. Where to Tilly?" "The Song house," said Jezebelle, glancing back at Bo's house. "You have a plan already?" asked Kristian playfully. Jezebelle pouted. "Must you ask? I always do." Staring at the rear mirror, Kristian noticed that Rin did not leave the house yet. Somewhere inside, he hoped that she would and yet, he couldn't explain why. At this moment, he would do anything to have her call him and tell him to turn around this instant and drive her back home. Instead, the Japanese boy simply smirked and evoked a nasty

response from the girl next to him about Koreans versus Japanese. ************************************************* Climbing up the stairs, Rin couldn't help but notice that Eun was teary-eyed behind her. When Rin turned around to ask, Eun shook her head and clasped her long fingers together in front of her. The beautiful older sister had a gentle look in her eyes. "I am so happy to see you Rin." Rin was touched. "It's been a while, Eun." "Maybe it's fate," said Eun quietly, catching up to Rin. "Fate?" asked Rin, confused. The walls were covered with picture frames of Bo and his two older sisters. There was one of Bo in a football uniform. "What is Eun?" "I've been so worried about Bo," said Eun, glancing at the locked door nearby. "And then, like my savior, you appear at our front door. Can it be that you and Bo are in sync? Perhaps you two can sense each other's discomforts?" At the comment, Rin flushed brightly. "I don't think that's it." "Oh? Why did you come then?" Frowning now, Rin said softly, "I think it's my fault Bo's like this." "Really?" asked Eun, gaping. "Why would it be your fault Bo's frustrated over Calculus? You're his tutor aren't you?" This was news to Rin. "Bo is studying Calculus right now?" "He told me so," said Eun, frustrated. Thinking back to this morning, Rin recalled that Bo was looking for her to ask about Calculus. Thanks to her situation with Kristian, Rin had completely forgotten about Bo. This made sense to Rin now. Since she didn't help him with Calculus like she said she would, he was trying so hard in his room. "It's still my fault then," said Rin, walking up to Bo's room. "Take care of him then," said Eun, nodding. Rin bowed once before the older sister in her extravagant clothes went downstairs and disappeared. Glancing at the door, Rin took in a deep breath. What should she say to Bo? What shouldn't she say? She forced Kristian to drive her here and now, she had no idea what to do. At last, Rin decided to knock on the door. It took a few minutes for Bo to open the door. The tall Korean male looked down at her and blurted, "Hamada-sama?" "Hello," said Rin lamely. "Yo," said Bo, grinning brightly. "How are you?" asked Rin, entering his room. "Great. You Hamada-sama?" The small room was decorated with posters of famous football players and female Korean models. This was not the first time Rin entered his room so she was not surprised at the amount of trophies on top of the cabinet or the wallpaper of a Korean girl on his desktop.

His school books were scattered across his bed. On the ground, she noticed that he left his backpack against the bed. There was a plate of untouched slices of fruit on the desk. "I'm okay," said Rin, sitting down in the chair in front of his computer. "Your room is the same as always." "I like my room the way it is," said Bo, removing the plate in front of her. "New idol?" asked Rin, indicating at his wallpaper. "Yeah," said Bo, standing in front of Rin and leaning against the desk with his right hand as support. "She sings, acts, and everything." "That's nice," said Rin, lowering her eyes to the ground. The carpet was a creamy color as well as the rest of the room. "Are you studying Calculus right now?" "Sister told you?" asked Bo in response. "She did," said Rin admittedly. "I'm stuck on this problem," said Bo, walking over to his bed where a Calculus book was left open. Then, he pointed at a problem on the page. "This one." "We went over this one already," said Rin, frowning. Bo widened his grin. "I was probably too busy staring at your chest, Hamada-sama. I'm sorry for being such a horny teenager since you have such a nice figure for a short young lady." "Shut up, Bo," said Rin, hiding her red face behind the book. "I'll explain it to you again if you want. Actually, I'll tutor you for today if you like." Bo glanced at the window. "First, you stalk me and now, you offer to help me for free? What evoke this Hamada-sama? Did you finally find your inner demons and want me to take good care of you?" "Closet pervert," said Rin, pouting. "I agree," said Bo, amused. "The closet is a very nice place." "You are perfectly normal," said Rin, ticked off. She stood up and went to his bed where the books were scattered. "I don't even know why I worry about you when all you do is pick on me." "But you like it," said Bo innocently. "No, I don't," said Rin angrily. However, she cooled herself down. "I'm not stalking you. I'm not here because of any of those reasons. I'm here because I want to see how you're doing. That's all." "Of course, Hamada-sama," said Bo, grinning. "It is your duty as Queen to make sure your knight is in good health. This knight thanks you for your generous time." "Cut it out," said Rin, louder than she imagined. Bo didn't say anything. "Why can't you tell me what you're really thinking?" Rin slammed his Calculus book on top of his bed. "Why can't you trust me with your thoughts? Why must you hold it all inside? I know you're faking this because you're using the fake grin!" Bo didn't say anything for a few seconds. "That's impossible, Hamada-sama." "Why?" demanded Rin.

"I don't think it's safe to talk about rated R stuff going in my head when my sister is around," said Bo, rubbing his chin in thought. Rin was now fuming. "But if you insist I tell you what I think, I'll be happy to lock the door and demonstrate it to you instead. Of course, we'll have to keep it a secret from Kristian or else-" "You're awful!" cried Rin, bursting into tears. She headed out the door quickly when she felt his grip on her arm. "Let me go! I don't want to talk to you anymore! I'm trying to be serious here and you're just taking it for granted! Why must you fool around all the time?" Bo stared at her back when he said in a low whisper, "But I was serious." Catching the last word, Rin glanced back. "What?" "Thanks for stalking me," said Bo in a quiet voice. "I'm perfectly fine though, as you can see. I'm a bit frustrated from Calculus, that's it." Bo picked his head up and grinned brightly. "So stay, Hamada-sama. I need your help." "I'll stay then," said Rin, lowering her arm. Bo removed his hand from her. Rin went back to the chair and sat down. "So, should I start with that problem?" "Who drove you here Hamada-sama?" asked Bo, glancing at the window again. "Kristian did. Why?" "Why would he?" asked Bo, more to himself than Rin. Rin lifted a brow at his question. Bo noticed. "I mean, where is he? Did he come in with you?" "No," said Rin, blinking. "He left. He had something to do. He'll pick me up later." "It must be nice to have such a nice boyfriend," said Bo absentmindedly. Rin blushed. "He's not nice. I made him. Calculus now?" "Right," said Bo, crouching in front of her with a sparkle in his eyes. "Would you like to take your sweater off Hamada-sama? It is a bit hot in here is it not?" Rin smiled in amusement. "Not happening." "It's funner that way though..." Coughing loudly, Rin started, "To solve this problem, you need to remember from Chapter 3 in which you..." ************************************* "Fi? Fi!" Running across the tennis courts, Jin called out her name countless times but no one answered him. None of the tennis girls were still around, not even the Coach. Disappointed, Jin stopped and caught his breath. He had been running around this area for quite some time with no sign of her anywhere. Nearing the football field, Jin saw that Alejandro was busy ordering the other football players around. Bo was not there with them. Before Jin saw this, he had this inkling of hope that Bo was practicing on the field. It was impossible though since Bo left school earlier. "Fi," said Jin, running back to the tennis courts. Breathless, Jin said again, "Fi!" "Hello Jin Song." Turning around, Jin noticed that the angelic Bailey Bambridge went up to him with a

smile on her face. She was carrying both a backpack and a cello case. The ex-member of the Populars smiled gently at him and held out her hand. "I heard you heard you're the newest member of the Populars." Jin shook her hand with a forced smile. "Yeah. It sort of happened." "Are you looking for the girls' tennis team?" asked Bailey, twirling a curl around her pink. "My girlfriend more specifically," said Jin honestly. "Most of them went home in groups," said Bailey, turning around and staring at the sky. Jin stared at her back. The setting sun loved her. "How do you like the Populars thus far? Are you fitting in?" "Somewhat," said Jin, checking the time on his cell phone. "I like them." "That's great," said Bailey, spinning around and beaming at Jin. "I hope you get along with them. They are good people once you get to know them. You are quite close to Jordan aren't you Jin?" "We're friends thanks to the tennis team," said Jin, uncomfortable at the time. Where was Jezebelle? "And yes, they are good people. I never doubt otherwise." "Jordan," said Bailey slowly. "I hope you can help him." "What do you mean?" asked Jin, lost. Bailey shook her head and went on her way to the nearest gate behind the tennis courts. "Nothing. I hope you find your girlfriend soon, Jin. If there's anything you'll like to know about the Populars, please ask me. I'll love to help you." "Thanks a lot," said Jin, waving after her. "I hope we can talk more in the future." "Sure," said Bailey, turning her beautiful head at him. "See you Jin Song." The minute Bailey drove away Jin groaned to himself for realizing that he had no method to return home. He could have asked Bailey for help since she had her own car. Checking his wallet, Jin realized that he lent out too much money to other people today to take the subway home by himself. Leaving the school, Jin tried to remember the nearest ATM machine to withdraw money from his parents' account for this emergency. Fortunately for Jin, a friend happened to be searching for him this entire time. "Jin, where have you been?" asked David, pulling down the window and gaping at Jin. "Finding Fi," said Jin sadly, remembering his missing girlfriend. "Hop in," said David, unlocking the doors with a press of a button. "She probably went home by herself. You should go check at her house." "Okay," said Jin, sighing. He checked the offices and everything. There was no sign of her at all. No one had seen her. Also, Bailey mentioned that the tennis girls went home in groups so Jin was praying she went home with one of the other tennis girls. "I'm sorry for bothering you like this." "No bother at all, Jin," said David, flashing a smile. "We live five minutes away from each other anyways." "I have a confession to make," said Jin, looking out the window. "It's kind of a secret." "We're cool," said David quickly. "I won't tell anyone."

"Actually," said Jin with a long sigh. "My girlfriend lives with my family." David forced the car into an abrupt stop at a red light. Jin nearly flew forward. Thankfully, he had his seatbelt on. Recovering from the shock, David turned his head to Jin with a dropped jaw. The Korean senior was speechless. Gulping, David nearly pulled out his hair. "You're serious?" "I am," said Jin with a firm nod. "How do you do stuff then?" asked David curiously. Jin frowned. "What do you mean?" "Private guy things," answered David, hoping Jin got the hint. "It's the same as when Yvette comes over to your house for tennis right?" At Yvette's name, David paled slightly. "Do you think she will still come over even after I ignore her for three days? I haven't really told my parents about my strike against Yvette. They will still treat her as usual." "I'm pretty sure Yvette notices if someone doesn't listen to her," said Jin, amused at David's worries. "What if she knows but still comes over as usual?" asked David, not noticing the change in light until someone honked from behind. He stepped on the accelerator and went on. "What if my parents find out about my strike against a fellow Korean? What then?" "Yvette is not that thick-skin," said Jin reasonably. "She is," said David, groaning. "Not a lot but she is." "That can be troubling," said Jin, frowning. "I can't do it Jin," said David, pulling over at an empty space aside the sidewalk. Jin watched him pick up the phone with a shaking hand. "I need to call Yvette and apologize for being such a dick. I will also call her about your girlfriend. I'm not going through with this strike." "Is this your final decision?" asked Jin, watching David search for her number down the address book. He somehow momentarily forgot that her name starts with a Y and it will take forever to find it going down the list. "Are you really going to drop out of this strike because of your parents?" David paused. "Are you for the strike Jin?" "I'm neutral," said Jin, scratching his head awkwardly. "It just seems like you're worrying over nothing again, David. Maybe you should calm down and think straight." "Right, right," said David, muttering to himself. "Yeah. It's no big deal. Why should I stop my strike because of a stupid reason like that? Who cares if my parents know. Am I right?" Jin thought about it. "You should care what your parents think though." Now, David was hitting his head against the wheel. Thanks to this, the car honked once by accident. "What should I do then?" "I'm not sure," said Jin sadly. Sighing, Jin dropped his head. "I'm not thinking straight either. I can't stop thinking about Fi. What if some strangers kidnap her? What if her ex-

boyfriends are after for her blood? What if some police officers find out about her doing illegal driving activities?" With every new question, Jin started to freak out. "Oh no! What if it turns out Fi really is my long lost twin? What do I do? What will my parents say if they know I lost Fi within a week of meeting her? I need to call the police! I need to call every girl on the tennis team to ask! I need to call her father! I need to find her!" Shocked, David gulped down. "That's what I call true love man... you're worst than me." "Fi," said Jin, slamming his head against the window dramatically. "What will I do if the cops arrest you? What should I do? Should I withdraw money to bail you out? What if you're kidnapped? Should I track down your ex-boyfriends and call them out one by one? What if you're being raped? Oh no. Think. What would Lara Croft from Tomb Raiders do?" "I say you go home and check out the situation," said David, eying Jin at the corner of his right eye. "Yes, I will do that," said Jin with fierce eyes. "I'll save you Fi! No matter what it takes! I have Ichigo's sword for occasions like this!" David's eyes widened. "Real?" "Why would I buy a fake one?" asked Jin, insulted. "Watch David. I'll go 'Bankai'!" **************************************** Thanks to the tree next to her room and Kristian, Jezebelle managed to knock on the window of her room. No one answered. Angry, Jezebelle started banging on the window and cursing loudly. At her voice, Jin's cousin Shuijin appeared with her sweater worn in front of her instead of behind her. Hugging a pillow, Shuijin hastily opened the window for Jezebelle and Kristian fall inside. The girl crouched down in front of Jezebelle. "Why didn't you knock on the front door?" asked Shuijin curiously. "Is your acorn of a cousin home?" asked Jezebelle immediately. Shuijin tilted her head to the side and said in her long, dreamy voice, "No love." "Good," said Jezebelle, smirking at Kristian. The two recovered and walked around the now messy room thanks to Shuijin munching on junk food. "You listen here, little girl, we've never been here okay?" "What?" asked Shuijin, exaggerating the word longer than necessary like always. "That's cute," said Kristian, interrupting the two completely. He was pointing at how Shuijin was wearing the sweaters in a fashion to cover her arms and chest only. "I like your sense of fashion." "Thanks," said Shuijin, mesmerized by the cool, older boy. "Jin's girlfriend, are you cheating on him?" "Why do you sound so hopeful?" asked Jezebelle, narrowing her eyes at the younger girl. "No reason," said Shuijin innocently, whistling. "I have a very cute girlfriend," said Kristian in a hurt voice. Shuijin watched him carefully while Jezebelle made gagging noises a few feet away now. "I would never ever hurt her by cheating with Tilly here. I have an absolute no cheating policy. I don't want to hurt her because I love her very much." Kristian used so much emotion in his tone that Shuijin was

completely suck in. "I am sure that Tilly feels the same way about Jin so I don't ever want to hear such an accusation again. It hurts people you know?" "I'm sorry," said Shuijin, tearful. "It's not your fault," said Kristian, groaning in pain. "There are just so many damn cheaters in this world. It's appalling to even think about. Men should be more faithful and stick to their women." "That's enough out of you," said Jezebelle, pulling Kristian away by the jacket. Jezebelle came up to Shuijin instead. "I have an itsy bitsy favor to ask you. It'll be real fun. I guarantee it." Jezebelle laughed evilly. "We're playing a trick on Shuijin and we need your help." "You and him?" asked Shuijin, indicating at Kristian. "I guess," said Jezebelle, tossing Kristian a look. Kristian gave her a blank response. "Okay!" cried Shuijin, enthusiastic now for some reason. "What do I do?" Smirking, Jezebelle leaned down and whispered into Shuijin's ear. The two did this while Kristian walked around the room and poked at the teddy bear on Jezebelle's bed. However, Jezebelle quickly caught on and snatched her teddy bear quickly away from Kristian. The two glared for each other while Shuijin watched in interest by sitting on the ground and hugging the pillow to hide half of her face. "Where is your aunt anyway?" asked Jezebelle curiously, ignoring Kristian and returning her attention to the young middle schooler. "She's in a deep sleep," said Shuijin, rocking back and forth on the ground. "Fuck yes," said Jezebelle, smirking widely. "Perfect." "Hey Tilly," said Kristian, edging out of the room and staring down the stairs. "I hear a car." "A car?" asked Jezebelle in disbelief. "It might be Jin," said Kristian thoughtfully. "It looks like it at least." "Shit," said Jezebelle, holding her teddy bear tightly. "Let's get the fuck out of here." "Me first," said Kristian, beating Jezebelle to the window. He held his arms out. "We have no choice but to dash to the car." "This will be the first and last time I'm saying this," said Jezebelle, accepting Kristian's arms. Kristian carefully pulled her safely out of the room. Shuijin winked at them and closed the window, just in time when Jin burst in. "You are really smart, Shiratori." "How can you doubt me so?" asked Kristian, feigning surprise. "I knew we had to park in the back or else Jin will see my car and think I am the kidnapper." Kristian paused and licked his lips. "Not that I want to kidnap a high maintenance girl like you anyways, Tilly." "Ignoring the snide remark," said Jezebelle, jumping into the passenger's seat. "I was referring to how you handle his cousin back there." Kristian sat down at the driver's seat as well. Both of them closed their doors. "That was his cousin?" asked Kristian, amused. "I thought it was his secret girlfriend." "This is him we're talking about here," said Jezebelle in reminder.

"Right," said Kristian, starting the engine and driving out into the road quickly. "You're smart around girls," said Jezebelle, impressed. Kristian shrugged it off like it was an every day compliment. "I underestimate you, Shiratori. You're such a player that knows his playboy material well." "Well," said Kristian with a stern face on. "I didn't really lie to her so it was easy." Jezebelle smirked and sat back, relaxing. "What the fuck? I hate whores. You hate cheaters." "Sharing similarities with Tilly," said Kristian, shaking his head. "The world has come to an end." "Fuck you." "Please don't. I don't cheat," said Kristian quickly. Jezebelle glared at him. Smirking, Kristian tossed Jezebelle an apathetic glance. "How long will it take Jin to realize that we're playing a prank on him? Any guesses?" "Forever," said Jezebelle, laughing in her usual manner. "He'll never figure it out. Watch." "If the cousin is reliable," said Kristian, frowning at the thought. "She is," said Jezebelle, playing with a loose strand of hair. "Thanks to you, manipulative Shiratori." ************************************************ Writing with his hand, Bo kept his eyes on the paper with the equations in order. However, occasionally, Bo glanced over at Rin, who was on his computer to do some translating work for an anime episode. Bo grinned and lowered his eyes to his paper. At least, she was here safely in his room where he could keep an eye on her. "Bo, are you really going to leave the group?" asked Rin softly, breaking the silence. "It depends if you still need me to protect you, Hamada-sama," said Bo, trying hard not to face her by keeping his eyes on the homework. "What do you mean by that?" asked Rin suspiciously. "You have Kristian now," said Bo, trying hard to concentrate on Calculus. "I don't need protection at all," said Rin, annoyed. She wrapped her arms in front of her chest. "I don't want to depend on a man to take care of me." "Because of your father?" asked Bo, unable to write anything anymore. "Mother still depends on him for financial support," said Rin bitterly. "I don't want the same thing to happen to me. I hate Mother for being weak. I hate her for needing him like this, even if he is my father." Bo picked up his eyes at last and at her back. "Your mother is not weak. She is one of the strongest mother I have ever met. She takes care of you by herself. Even though she acts like a teenager, she has the heart and brain of a mother. She must be a great mother to raise you into who you are now, Hamada-sama." "I actually grow up, keeping a distance from her," said Rin sadly, lowering her head. "When I talk to her, I don't feel like I'm talking to my mother but my younger sister. She doesn't act her age so I decide to take care of her myself."

"You fail at chores though, Hamada-sama." "Shut up, Bo," said Rin, grumbling. "My sister Eun is the same way," said Bo suddenly, gaining Rin's attention. "Even though she is a few years older than me, I feel like I'm babysitting a younger sister at times. I protect her everywhere she goes after, you know, the molest incident in her car. I don't even know where this sense of protection comes from." "Didn't you start protecting me two years ago?" asked Rin curiously. "Didn't the incident with your sister also happen two years ago?" Suddenly, Bo grinned at Rin's comment. "I see a connection. Do you Hamada-sama?" "Protecting me in school and your sister at home," said Rin, amused now. "An almosttwenty-four seven job." "I used to protect my grandmother too," said Bo, thinking back. "I wonder where all this really come from." "Didn't you enjoy reading the Knight's tale in Canterbury Tales?" At the question, Bo dropped his pencil on the paper. Rin rushed over to him, worried that there was something wrong with him. However, Bo merely grinned up at her and shook his head. Quickly, Bo picked up his pencil and stared at the lead in a mesmerized manner. "It's actually my favorite story," said Bo, rolling the pencil in between his fingers. "My favorite story of all time." Rin blinked and laid down at an empty spot on his bed with her hands on her side. "How does it go again? I forgot." "There was a duke of Athens name Theseus who conquered Thebes after he hears the pleas of the women. He managed to heal and imprison two enemy soldiers from that battle name Palamon and Arcite. These two cousins stay in the tower, feeling hopeless, when one day," Bo paused and grinned. "Palamon sees Emelye, the enchanting daughter of Theseus, in the gardens. He falls in love with her at first sight. Arcite does as well after he comes over." "I sort of remember it now," said Rin sleepily as she relaxed on his bed. Nodding, Bo continued, "Soon enough, another duke who is Arcite's friend petition for his freedom. Arcite is released with the condition that he cannot return to Athens ever again. Returning to his hometown, Arcite is now jealous of Palamon, who can see Emelye every day. On the other hand, Palamon is jealous of Arcite because he can now build an army and take Emelye away by force." "Jin..." said Rin drowsily. This surprised Bo as he turned to find her sleeping against the pillow to her side. Her back was to him. Rin seemed to be shivering for some reason. Placing his pencil down carefully, Bo observed Rin's back from top to bottom. Quietly, Bo got off his bed on the other side and crouched in front of her, gazing intently at her face. Rin muttered something inaudibly as Bo chuckled to himself. "Are you so comfortable in my presence that you can fall asleep in my room like this?" asked Bo out loud, moving closer to her. "What if I am to do something naughty to you, my Queen?" Bo held his hand out to her chest and paused. "Do you honestly believe I'm a true closet pervert? Why are you asleep in front of me then?" Bo hovered his hand in front of her

face instead. "Does that mean you don't actually mean what you say to me?" Bo placed his hand carefully on her cheek. "Am I allowed to do this then Hamada-sama?" Before Bo could do anything, he heard the door open behind him. Without looking around, Bo knew it was about time Kristian and Jezebelle came back. Plus, it was so like both of them to not knock on the door before coming in. Holding up his arms defensively, Bo chuckled. "I'm not doing anything, Kristian," said Bo, grinning at the other boy. As expected, Kristian had a hard look in his eyes. "You better not." "Have you ever read Chaucer's Canterbury Tales?" asked Bo, standing up straight now. Jezebelle was observing his room behind Kristian. "I glance at it on Spark Notes," said Kristian, shrugging. "What about it?" "Do I have to fucking read it?" asked Jezebelle, outraged. "No, you're in a different English class than us back then," said Bo, amused. "Hell yes," said Jezebelle, flinging her hair back. "I hate reading shit." "Same," said Kristian, agreeing hastily with Jezebelle. "Should I make dinner now?" asked Bo out loud, rubbing his chin and dodging the subject completely. At the sound of that, Rin rolled over her on her side. "I have a fine idea actually! Have you ever taste Hamada-sama's cooking Kristian?" "I haven't," said Kristian with wide eyes. "I want to know!" "I'm not eating then," said Jezebelle, shocked at the suggestion. "You rarely eat anyways, Tilly," said Kristian, smirking at her. "Butt out, Shiratori," said Jezebelle, glaring at him. "I don't want a death sentence. It has nothing to do with my diet shit." "I'll make this even more interesting by calling Vance over," said Bo, chuckling and leaving the room. Jezebelle went after him to curse him out about how she refused to eat anything. "You wake her up, Kristian, and," Bo waved at him from outside the room, "I'll be here so don't try anything funny to my Queen." "I wouldn't do her in another guy's room anyway," said Kristian under his breath. He went up to the bed and crouched down in front of Rin. "Sweetie, wake up now. Your knight in shining armor is here to fetch you to the kitchen." Rin felt Kristian's shake. "Bo?" "Wrong," said Kristian, annoyed. Rin opened her eyes and smiled timidly at him. "Do I not look like a knight in shining armor?" "No," said Rin, sitting up straight now. "You look like Kristian." "Thanks for the compliment," said Kristian, licking his lips. Rin scowled. "Hey Rin-chan, I hear you can cook. Cook for me." Rin blinked and jumped off the bed. "I love cooking! I want to cook! Is it okay with Bo? I'll show you guys my skills in the kitchen!" "He gave the okay," said Kristian, anxious now.

"I want to cook!" cried Rin, running out of the door. However, she poked her head back in. "Come Kristian! You need to help me with the vegetables!" Kristian was all pumped up. "Anything for you, Rin-chan." "Flirt," said Rin, running back in and dragging him along. "Is Fi-Fi still here?" "I really hope so," said Kristian, laughing weakly. "Why?" asked Rin in a demand. "We sort of pulled a prank on Jin..." "What kind of prank?" Kristian licked his lips. "Well..." *********************************** Fi has been kidnapped? Shuijin nodded firmly at her cousin's question. Your girlfriend has been taken away by these guys in black. I believe they might be with the Secret Services! Has she not been paying tax to the government?" "What? That can't be possible..." David, who standing behind Jin, raised a brow. "Think about it for a second, Jin Song. She is living with you. Who knows what kind of financial situation she might be in? What if she's in debt?" "Her father is my father's boss!" cried Jin dramatically. "You are dating your father's boss's daughter?" asked David, gasping. "This is the first time I heard of this too," said Shuijin, inching in on Jin along with David to get more information. "How did you end up dating someone like that? What if you do something bad to her? You will never hear the end of it! Your dad might get fired too!" "Now you know why I'm panicking!" said Jin, throwing his arms around her. "And I thought you are like this because you love her," said David, almost devastated at all the information he received. "But shit, this is even worst. You really did lose your father's boss's daughter to the government. I can't wait until your parents find out about this one." "I know," said Jin, sighing. "What do I do?" Shuijin sat on top of her pillow and watched Jin run around the room, trying to come up with solutions with David, who was also panicking for Jin. Amused, Shuijin thought about what Jezebelle whispered in her ear earlier and smiled brightly. "Hey, this is fun," said Shuijin, placing her hands under the sides of her face. "She told me it would and now I know what she meant." "Did they tell you where they took her?" asked Jin, pulling at Shuijin now. The girl acted as normal and calm as possible. "I heard the nearest police station." "I must save her," said Jin, rushing out of the room. David went after him, saying bye to Shuijin first. Jin stopped in his tracks. David bumped into his back. "David, you don't have to come with me. Sorry for bothering you all this time. I have my own car at home so I'll go see

myself. Thanks for everything." "I want to help," said David, frowning. "How?" asked Jin sadly, thinking of Jezebelle. "I'm not sure but," said David, pumped up. "If I help you, I won't think about Yvette as much! Best of all, if she comes over, she can't find me! Also, I want to get to know your girlfriend better! It's like hitting two birds with one stone!" "Okay, er," said Jin, opening the door. "Let's rescue Fi then." "You have the money?" asked David, determined. "Yes," said Jin, nodding. "I'll explain everything to the police. They will listen to reason. I have faith in them." "You do that, Jin," said David, flinging open the door for Jin. "Thank you," said Jin firmly. "You're welcome," said David, also in the same firm voice. As for Shuijin, she watched them from the second story. She waited until David's car drove away before she burst out laughing. Hiding inside her closet, Shuijin hugged her pillow against her sweater and went online to message her friends about what was going on around her. *************************************** Cooking by herself, Rin noticed that Eun was watching her from the breakfast table. The young lady dressed in fancy clothes along with pretty gloves and accessories was busying herself with coffee. Feeling her eyes though, Rin began to become nervous. Maybe she should have asked Eun to use the kitchen, not Bo. "You can't hide it from me, Rin Hamada," said Eun with sparkling eyes. "What am I hiding exactly?" asked Rin curiously. "Something happen between you and Bo in school today, am I correct?" asked Eun, twirling her curls playfully. "Not exactly," said Rin, sighing in defeat now. "It's Jin and I." "What's wrong with Jin-Kyong?" asked Eun, obviously worried. For as long as Rin knew Eun, she always preferred Jin above any of Bo's other friends. "What happen to JinRinBo?" Rin lowered her eyes. "We split apart." "No wonder," said Eun in a quick gasp. "It makes more sense now." "Jin left our trio already," said Rin in a low voice. "Now, Bo wants to too. That is why I'm here- to persuade him otherwise. Am I the only one who wants us to stick together?" "You didn't even want Bo to join in the beginning, Rin," said Eun, smiling deviously. Rin frowned. "But he persuaded me to let him join for a long time with strong endurance so finally, I accepted him." "Isn't it the time to accept his decision again and allow him to leave then?" At the question, Rin paused her stirring and stared, dumbstruck, at the stove in front of

her. For whatever reason, Rin thought she just heard a lot of wisdom from Eun from a single question alone. However, Rin didn't know what to do now. "But.." "Do you think it's fair?" "Fair?" asked Rin, confused. "You have a boyfriend now, right?" asked Eun, smiling playfully at Rin. "How do you know about that?" asked Rin, surprised. "Bo tells me everything," said Eun, clasping her fingers together. "Bo and I are very close since he has to drive me everywhere. We have to talk about something." "I see," said Rin, returning to stirring the pot. "What did he tell you about Kristian?" "Nothing much except that he's Japanese and he's your boyfriend," said Eun in a cool manner. "Since you have a boyfriend, isn't it wrong to ask Bo to still protect you? Shouldn't your boyfriend do that instead?" "I never asked Bo to protect me..." said Rin in a quiet voice. "Bo is not someone who needs to be asked to do things," said Eun sternly. "I never asked him to protect me either. All I ever asked him was to drive me when I need it. But from that, he grew protective of me. He has a huge sense of duty." "So does Jin, but why is that?" asked Rin, frowning. "It may have to do with the way he grew up," said Eun, gazing at a picture frame hanging on the wall of their family. "My parents were very poor after they immigrated to America. Bo wasn't born back then. Even though he grew up in America, Bo was a perceptive child. He noticed that our father was never around thanks to multiple jobs to support the family. At a very young age, Bo took care of the family all on his own. He protected his mother and two older sisters. I guess because of that, he's protective of women in general." "I've noticed," said Rin, sighing at the story. "I knew Bo was perceptive but I never knew at such a young age. It sort of frustrates me." "You know, Rin Hamada," said Eun, turning her head to the side where Bo was rearranging the kitchen table with his headphones on. "Bo will do anything for you. That's just how he is. Are you going to take advantage of that and lead him on?" "No, definitely not," said Rin in dismay. "I thought so," said Eun, glancing back at Rin and smiling. "You're not manipulative, Rin. I know you somewhat. You wouldn't try to have Bo on the bench on purpose while you're with your boyfriend right?" Outraged, Rin turned around and gaped at Eun. "Never! The thought never crossed my mind!" Smiling wider, Eun picked up her glass. "I can take advantage of Bo's generosity because I'm his sister. What are you to Bo? Why should he do so much for you?" "I'm his friend," said Rin, unsure. "To Bo, you're not," said Eun with narrowed eyes.

Rin caught on and frowned. "You're right." "Don't you love your boyfriend?" asked Eun suddenly, causing Rin's eyes to widen. "You rejected Bo. You didn't reject this guy. You must have feelings for him no? Shouldn't you stay loyal to those feelings?" "I don't know what my feelings are," said Rin lamely. Eun tilted her head. "And you and Jin are much closer than you and Bo. Even though you guys break up, you still have feelings for him no? You guys have known each other since elementary school." "Yeah..." "I hope you understand our talk, Rin Hamada," said Eun, standing up now. "It's not that I want to bring you down. I'm just being selfish and looking into Bo's best interest. I don't think it's healthy for him to stick around you and watch you with your boyfriend all the time. It's too cruel." "I never thought of it that way," said Rin, turning around to her pot. "Bo!" sang Eun, motioning at her brother. Rin jumped at the call. "Come here for a second! Rin has something to say to you!" Rin gasped and shook her head at Eun, panicking,"I'm not ready-" "You're never going to be, dear," said Eun, pouting. "Deal with it for now okay?" "Do you need me, Sis? Hamada-sama?" asked Bo, taking off his headphones and entering the kitchen with a wide grin. "She does," said Eun, indicating at a flushed Rin. "I need to organize my room." "If you need help, call me," said Bo after his sister who left the room. "Yo Hamada-sama. How's the food coming?" "Good," said Rin, trying hard to sound casual."Where are the other two?" "They came back to check up on us and then left for the police station." "Why?" asked Rin, weary of the answer. "I didn't ask," said Bo, grinning. "Fi probably wants to steal a couple of handcuffs for her bedroom action with Jin." "Great," said Rin, shaking her head. "I don't want to know." "Do you need help with the cooking?" "No," said Rin quickly, jerking away. "I can do it fine by myself..." "If you say so, Hamada-sama," said Bo, leaning against the nearby counter top instead. "Bo," said Rin in a solemn voice. Bo picked his head up at her. "Sorry. I fell asleep earlier during your storytelling. I pulled an all-nighter you see..." "Perfectly understandable," said Bo with a nod. "Bo, may you continue where you left off? It calms me somewhat." "Gladly, Hamada-sama."

While Bo sat down against the lower cabinets, he continued where he left off. Since Rin was cooking, she had no time to fall asleep like last time. Plus, it was bad to fall asleep while cutting vegetables. The story continued on with how Palamon and Arcite found each other again after Palamon was released from prison. They fought over her and when Theseus found out, he was going to sentence them both to death until his daughter and wife pleaded for their lives. After they explained their situation to him, Theseus gave them months to build up an army and fight each other for Emelye's love. At the temple, each of them came up to different Goddesses or Gods to get their wish granted: Palamon asked Venus for love and was accepted, Emelye asked Diana for chastity but was rejected, and Arcite asked Mars for victory in battle and was accepted. When the day finally came, Arcite won the battle but died before he reached to Emelye because of an earthquake forcing his horse to throw him off. Before Arcite died, he told Emelye that Palamon was a good person. In the end, Emelye and Palamon got married after years of mourning for Arcite and lived happily ever after. Staring at the now done food, Rin thought about the story longer than she should have. She read this before for class and it never really brought out this much emotion in her. When Rin studied or read something for class, all she wanted was to do well on her tests and quizes, not because she enjoyed the subject. This made her realize something very important in her current situation with her friends and maybe more than friends. "Bo, are you Palamon or Arcite?" asked Rin, taking off the apron. Bo merely smiled at her at the question. Rin was surprised that it was a smile, not a grin. Then, Bo took a breath and said, "The real question shouldn't be who I am. It should be who the other person is. Is it Jin or Kristian, Hamada-sama?" "I remember what I should have been talking to you about now," said Rin with a deep sigh. The names of her boyfriend and former best friend somehow did it. Bo stood up straight and gazed at her intently. "I'm your queen and you are my knight right Bo?" "Of course, Hamada-sama." "It is about time this queen let you go," said Rin sadly, biting her lip. She felt like Eun was watching her. "I don't think it's fair for you to protect me anymore when it's Jin who ask that favor of you in the first place. If you want to leave and join another group, I'm perfectly find with that. Actually, I'm giving you permission to." Bo tried to grin now. "I will do as you ask then." "The truth is," said Rin, pausing for a moment to think. "I can't drag you around like this anymore when I like someone else. The sad thing is..." Rin felt breathless suddenly. "I probably loved him for a long, long time."

Author's Note
Weird question but... how do you people pronounce Fi? Half of my readers pronounce it Fie while I and a couple of others pronounce it Fee. I don't even know why I want to know but I'm too curious. Anyways, I'll try to get all of this wrapped up in the next chapter. I can't spend too much time in one arc or else I won't have any time to do the other ones!

Thanks for reading like always everyone~
