Gorgeous Geek Chapter XXIV: Popularity and Sexuality

Chapter XXIV: Popularity and Sexuality

Looking through the pictures in her camera, Eunice took notes of everything she caught on her notepad to resent to Tiffany once she got to school. Jennifer was helping Eunice's quest of collecting more gossip by traveling around the school for information. Completely alone, Eunice tapped the side of her pen against her cheek in thought. She stopped flipping through images at one picture she saw. Eunie, said Jennifer, skipping over to her friend with ponytail flying in the air. Today, she was carrying a green handbag decorated with bright jewels. There are so much information I gathered from asking around! I can't wait to present them to Tiffie! This is the second week of school, said Eunice, bouncing up and down on her seat on the stairs. And so much has happened! Have you gathered any news on Kristian? Always Kristian first, said Jennifer in a teasing voice. She held her hands against her heart and sighed. Jennifer had a dreamy look on her face. I still can't believe the latest news though. Rin Hamada has finally released beautiful Jin Song from her best friend influence for Kristian. What should I do Eunie? Eu nice tilted her head in question. Should I go the old-fashion way and send Jin a love letter? Or should I ask him out personally? What about Tiff? asked Eunice, frowning. I was only playing around, said Jennifer, creating broken hearts with her hands. Besides, my heart has already been taken by another. Jennifer made a heart with her hands now. Unlike our junior year, there are so many hot guys in the senior class. There aren't that many, is there? asked Eunice innocently. Jennifer jumped down next to Eunice and hugged the shorter girl affectionately around the shoulders. Oh Eunie! You have no clue how my heart works! Even though the boy I have a crush on is nothing compare to Sidney Park and a couple of other Korean guys, he has a much more mild personality that makes up for his seven and a half rating!

A seven and a half? asked Eunice in complete shock. She bounced up and down even more than before. Who? Who? Who? It's a secret, said Jennifer, pouting and twirling her fingers in front of her blushing face. Besides, I'm not here to tell you my crush! No fair, said Eunice, tearful. You know who my crush is! Everyone knows who your crush is, said Jennifer in defense. It doesn't take a genius to figure it out! Eunice teared up some more. Jennifer hugged her closer as the two swayed side by side. But mine is actually unknown. I don't want anyone to know. I won't tell anyone, said Eunice, upset. I know you won't on purpose, said Jennifer, tapping her finger on Eunice's nose. But you have a tendency to blurt it out by accident. I'm sorry, said Eunice, pouting. I swear I will not do it this time! God, said Jennifer, hugging herself and swaying uneasily by herself. I can't keep it a secret anyway! I don't want to hold it back! Today, I passed by him this morning and I totally want to hug him. He's so cool and laid back! Gosh, I really want to confess my feelings already! Eunice tilted her head. You only started liking him today? Yup! That's fast, said Eunice, playing with her ribbon now. You sure you like him? I'm as sure as JinRinBo breaking up, said Jennifer in a satisfying sigh. Eunice's eyes widened dramatically at the news. Jennifer snapper her fingers and said, They broke up. They went their separate ways thanks to Jin leaving the group for the Populars. I hear Bo's returning to the Korean Posse. I have no idea what Rin Hamada will do now that two out of her three friends left her. She and Vance can't be considered a group by themselves! I feel sorry for them, said Eunice, sobbing now. I actually like JinRinBo... I did too, said Jennifer, frowning and hitting her chest with her hands clasped together. They were like none other group and they were so friendly too. Do you think Jin is acting like this because of that Jezebelle girl? asked Eunice.

Maybe, said Jennifer, frowning. He's changing thanks to her. I want my old Jin back! He might have been a total geek but at least he's so adorable when he's holding that gameboy all the time! DS, said Eunice in correction. Whatever! cried Jennifer, flinging her arms about. I want my old Jin back! You totally change the subject on me, said Eunice, whining. Go back to your crush. I want to know who it is. Tell me. Tell me. Tell me! Fine, Eunie, said Jennifer, leaning toward Eunice's ear. His name is- Well? asked Tiffany, dropping her backpack near the other two girls' legs. Have you two gathered data from around the school? Hi Tiff, said Eunice and Jennifer cutely in unison. Yes, we have, said Jennifer proudly, nodding and clapping her hands. I have photos for you too, said Eunice, holding up her camera. Tiffany narrowed her eyes dangerously at the picture of Kristian leaning against his car in front of Rin's house. Upset, Tiffany snatched the camera away from Eunice and turned it off. At the sight of Kristian, Tiffany immediately lost her temper. Stop taking pictures of him, said Tiffany in a direct order. But, said Eunice, dropping her head. I can't help it Tiff. I want real pictures of drama, said Tiffany, sitting down on the step above the two girls and taking out her black notebook. Have you not heard the weird rumor flying around how there's something going on between Jezebelle and Kristian? Why is it always those four? asked Jennifer, tapping her fingers against her purse now in annoyance. Jin, Jezebelle, Kristian, and Rin Hamada- they are always tangled up together. Why can't I join the fun? I don't know and I don't care, said Tiffany coldly. Shouldn't you be happy Tiff? asked Jennifer, amazed. If there really is something going on between those two, Jin can go back to being single. I swear, said Tiffany, ignoring Jennifer completely. Kristian always gives me trouble. If it weren't for him, Rin Hamada and I would have broken that awful couple long ago. He had to meddle and ruin my life every time.

Why do you hate Kristian so much? asked Eunice, sad. I just do, said Tiffany, glaring. Eunice dropped her eyes. He always does something and that something always indirectly affects me somehow. It's very annoying. The other two simply nodded, afraid of angering Tiffany. Anyways, any other news? Bailey and Joseph Cruz are still together, said Jennifer, nodding. Speaking of Joseph Cruz, said Tiffany, realizing something. Didn't the Killer Four get a new group member? I think we talk about this, said Jennifer, removing a strand of hair in front of her eyes. Roselle Young is the fourth member of the Killer Four. But she's a girl! cried Eunice, dropping her jaw. No one said that the Killer Four had to be all males, said Tiffany in reminder. She was lost in thought at this piece of information. And no one said that the Populars had to be all females and Jordan either. You're still upset about that, aren't you Tiff? asked Jennifer, shaking her head. It's not that, said Tiffany, sighing. I am trying to understand why Jin would do such a thing. I know him. It's not a popularity thing then why... Maybe, said Jennifer in a sing-sang voice. He wants a new best friend after Rin Hamada got together with Kristian? I mean, girls can't spend time with their male friends once they have a boyfriend right? That's slutty and Rin Hamada is no slut. Eunice widened her eyes. I don't know. I actually think it's something else. What do you think Eunice? asked Tiffany, opening her black notebook. Maybe it has to do with Jin being ambitious, said Eunice excitedly. The other two stared at her like she was crazy. Look at it this way... maybe Jin wants to change the Populars from the inside! Maybe he wants them to be less superficial! What do you guys think? It makes sense to me! Tiffany took out her glittery purple pen and shook her head. No, I don't think it's either of those scenarios. I know Jin well enough to know that he doesn't think that far ahead. Those two plans are too complicated for him. The reason is simple. I just need to know what it is. Gosh, I don't know anymore, said Jennifer, resigned.

I actually want to talk about the Killer Four more, said Eunice, brightening up once again. It's not fair that someone like Roselle gets to hang out with them while we don't! You should be thankful you're not in the group, Eunie, said Jennifer, gasping. You never date your group leader because it completely destroys everything! I have no chance with him anyway, said Eunice stubbornly. I would rather be as close to him as possible then! If you know it's impossible, said Tiffany, interrupting. She checked her cell phone for any missed calls. You should get over this stupid crush already. Crush, said Eunice, jumping up and peering down at Jennifer. Who is it? Tell me! You like someone? asked Tiffany, lifting a brow at Jennifer. I do, said Jennifer proudly. He's so awesome. Junior? Senior? Senior, said Jennifer, tapping her fingers together. Except for Jin Song and Jordan Greene, most of the other boys are not nearly cute enough. My crush might not be the cutest boy but I really like him. I know the senior class pretty well, said Tiffany, scribbling down notes in the notebook now. Who is it? I won't say anything. Same! cried Eunice, anxious. Faith Santana, said Jennifer, hugging herself at the thought. Tiffany stopped writing. Not... good... ****************************** Today, thanks to Rin's situation with Kristian last night, Kristian came to pick her up especially early. Rin was also ready extra early. Regrettably, she didn't study much last night so she wanted to head to the band room early to catch up on some studying. Luckily, Kristian had to go to his locker to dump a lot of things in his backpack. Since he won't let her know what he was carrying around, Rin went on ahead to the band room by herself. The school was completely empty except for a couple of people. "Mr. Chan, please..."

"I'm sorry, Faith, but there's nothing I can do." "It's my senior year good sir." "I know that fully well, Faith. You're my drummer for three whole years already. I am not the one who decided this. The school did. You just can't come with us on the Hawaii trip." "Wait a second," said Rin, approaching the two in front of the band room. "Mr. Chan, I thought you told us the past three years that the reason Faith couldn't come on the Hawaii trip with us every year was due to financial problems." "Hamada," said Faith gratefully at the short girl close to them. "It's a cover up." "Faith," said Mr. Chan warningly. "You know well why you can't come with us. You would have to share a room with three other boys or three other girls and we still don't know where to place you." "In all due respect, Mr. Chan," said Rin, frowning. "Faith should be able to go on the trip with everyone else. We all know who he is and what he can do. The band always seems very weak without him every year. We might be able to win Gold this year with him." "Hamada..." said Faith, smiling softly at her. "I know but it still doesn't solve our current situation," said Mr. Chan, shaking his head. "Obviously, Faith should share a hotel room with the other boys," said Rin, outraged at the question. "He goes to the boys' restroom! He goes into the boys' locker room! There's no doubt what he is. He's even on the boys' swimming team!" "That's enough Rin," said Mr. Chan, sighing. "You need to talk to the school about this, not me. I am not the one who makes this decision." With that, Mr. Chan went inside the band room. Blinking, Rin turned to the male next to her. Faith Santana was a senior of average height and average weight. The senior had spiked, dyed dark blue hair, brown eyes, and slightly tanned skin. He wore a thick blue scarf around his neck and a black jacket along with the rest of his dark clothes. He fancied boots and wore those often. "Mr. Chan usually talks to me about these things early in the morning when no one is around," said Faith, sighing. "I am grateful for your presence, Ms. Hamada." "I can't believe the school would not allow a student to go on a school trip because they don't know whether to treat you like a boy or a girl," said Rin, irritated.

"I should feel insulted by this," said Faith plainly, wrapping his arms in front of him. "My family and I came to America to escape the lack of freedom from our country. Instead, we have to be restricted by the basis of our sex instead of status. I did not sign up for this." "That's how America is," said Rin, frowning. "The so-called land of opportunity." "Let's not talk about my sad situation," said Faith, pocketing his hands. "I heard that you're dating Mr. Shiratori now, Ms. Hamada." "I heard so too," said Rin, glancing away. "A million times." "Sorry," said Faith, chuckling uneasily. Rin smiled at how shy Faith became now. "I didn't mean to scold you, Faith." "Oh," said Faith, tilting his head to the side. "How is that working out for you?" "Better now," said Rin honestly, beaming. "I'm glad, then," said Faith, pausing to think. "I'm happy for you. Now, I wish we talked more in the past. It's a shame really." "It is," said Rin, clasping her hands together. "You are always so laid-back and sensitive, Faith. I admire your seniority in our marching band for a long time. I guess I just never got the courage to talk to you until now." "How unfortunate," said Faith, flicking his spiky blue strands of hair out of the way. "I would like to talk to you earlier. You shouldn't be so shy about it. You're usually very outgoing and honest, Ms. Hamada." Flushing, Rin cried, "Rin is fine! Ms. Hamada makes me sound old!" "Hey Faith," said Kristian, giving him one hard look before coming over to Rin. "Ms. Hamada eh? It suits you since youre so bossy. How about Mrs. Shiratori?" "Shut up Kristian," said Rin, pouting at him. "So Faith," said Kristian, smirking at Faith. "What's up man?" Faith punched hands with Kristian. "Good. How are you?" "Perfectly content," said Kristian, dropping his arm over Rin's shoulder much to her dismay. "You're joining Jazz Band or some shit like that?"

"Marching Band is enough trouble for me," said Faith, winking playfully. "Curious," said Kristian, lifting a brow. "What do you play?" "I'm the drummer," said Faith quickly. "You're strong then," said Kristian, widening his smirk "I can beat you in arm wrestling," said Faith, copying Kristian's lick. "I am the President of Karate Club," said Kristian, narrowing his eyes. Faith shrugged his shoulders. "Talk is cheap." Somehow, thanks to Faith's taunt, the two boys were trying to arm wrestle on top of a broken desk outside the band room. Rin sat in between them on the side of the table to make sure neither of them would cheat. Both boys struggled for a couple of minutes but it became obvious that Kristian was winning. Right before Kristian could slam Faith's hand down to the left, Faith did one hard push that completely slammed Kristian's hand over to the right. "That was insane," said Rin with wide eyes. "You're surprisingly strong," said Kristian, admitting his defeat. "You're kind of forced to," said Faith, shrugging. "I have to carry a drum while marching every week for three years in a row." "It didn't help her much," said Kristian, throwing a thumb at Rin. "The sax is nothing compared to the drums," said Rin, sticking out her tongue. "But biologically you're both-" Faith sighed. "Biology has nothing to do with it. You don't have to stick to the blueprints you're born with. Nurture is as important as nature after all." "I didn't mean to offend you, Faith man," said Kristian, smiling at the shorter male. Faith shook his head in understanding. "You're stronger than me and I will never forget this. I'll kick your ass next time." "I will ready my ass then," said Faith, amused. "Kristian," said Rin, interrupting. "About Faith." "Yeah, he's here. I can see that."

"No," said Rin, pouting again. "You need to help him with his dilemma." "Dilemma?" "It's stupid really," said Faith, biting his lower lip. "Mr. Chan and the school won't let me go on the annual school trip to Hawaii for Jazz Band, Orchestra, Band, and Dance Team because of hotel room issue." Kristian gave Rin a firm look. "How come I did not know about this trip?" "It's in December," said Rin, frowning. "And why would I tell you something like that out of nowhere?" "I'm not allowed to go even if it's my senior year," said Faith, sighing. "What can I do? The school said so and I must obey." "No, you don't," said Kristian, outraged. "You can fight back." "We're not like you, Kristian," said Rin in warning. "This is fucked up," said Kristian, glaring. "I hate shit like this." Rin and Faith exchanged a look at how passionately Kristian was taking the information. "Hell, what are they suggesting when they say you can't share the same room as us guys? The fuck with that." "You know how it is," said Faith, shaking his head. Kristian threw his right arm out dramatically. "Listen. The reason why they're pulling off this shit is because they think us guys will do something to you. But listen here, you're not Rin-chan. We're not going to jump all over you like wolves. Guys like me don't want to fuck everything that moves. That's fucking disgusting." Rin gave Kristian a death glare. "What did you say about me Kristian?" "I love you," said Kristian, giving her a sweet smile before returning his speech to Faith. "They are treating us high school boys like we don't have standards. That's why they're pulling off all this discrimination and shit. These people don't understand that guys don't get laid. A guy only gets laid when a girl lets him. Girls? They are more frightening. They can get laid whenever they want." "I agree," said Faith, nodding. "Don't agree with him!" cried Rin, shocked. "What about guys who rape girls?" "They're not real guys," said Kristian confidently. "Real guys get girls with their own skills." Kristian licked his lips. "Like myself."

"Sure," said Rin, rolling her eyes at him. "Look at this, Faith," said Kristian, smiling and indicating at Rin. "Aren't rebellious girlfriends the best?" Faith blinked innocently at Rin. "Honestly? Hell yeah." "Mr. Chan probably doesn't know that you being in the same room with three other girls are way more dangerous than being in a room with three guys," said Kristian, shaking his head. "I mean even Rin-chan knows you're one of us so you being with those of your opposite sex- I mean- gender is completely absurd." "If you think so, Kristian," said Rin innocently. "Why don't you argue it with the school? You are in speech and debate, aren't you?" "You're right," said Kristian, lowering his eyes to the ground in thought. "I need to help my fellow oppressed students. All right then, but first, I need the biggest dick around to support me and-" Kristian smiled pleasantly at Faith. "It's not you, Faith. Oh we have a winner!" "What are you looking at me for, Kristian?" asked Edwin, coming up to the band room with his blue backpack hanging against his left shoulder. Edwin noticed Rin staring at him and narrowed his eyes dangerously. "What is this? You two always come to school together now?" "Edwin, give it up," said Kristian, smirking. "Rin-chan will never like you with me around." "Who said I like her?" asked Edwin, angry. "Stop joking around Kristian," said Rin, feeling insulted. "Harsh crowd," said Kristian. Then, he dragged Faith closer to him. "Hey Edwin. Do you think Faith deserve to go the Hawaiian trip with us? It's his senior year after all." "I thought Faith didn't have enough money to go," said Edwin, lifting a brow. "Well, he does now," said Kristian, tossing Faith one reassuring look. "But Mr. Chan won't let him go because of his sex and the rooming. How stupid is that right? What bull shit." Edwin gave Faith one long look before he said, "It is." Surprised, Rin said, "You think so too Edwin? Really?"

"Why do you sound so surprised?" asked Edwin, annoyed. "Of course I think it's BS. Faith is our best drummer. It doesn't matter what the hell he is. He's our drummer and no matter where he stays, he should come with us. The swimming team doesn't discriminate against him so we shouldn't either." "You hear that Faith?" asked Kristian happily. "Even dick head Edwin backs you up. We can argue with the school board about it." "If I'm a dick head, you're a pig head," said Edwin, sticking his nose up and going inside. "What did I do to him?" asked Kristian out loud, staring after Edwin. "He totally hates me. Oh right." Kristian glanced at Rin, who was happily jumping up and down for Faith. "It's all Rin-chan's fault." Hearing her name, Rin became defensive. "What's my fault?" "It's your fault for being so adorable and attracting weird guys," said Kristian sweetly. "Oh, like you?" asked Rin mercilessly. "Hey, you're getting better," said Kristian, wrapping his arm around Rin's shoulder as the two headed toward the band room. "Congrats and thank you Rin-chan. If there is anyone you know who is not weird, let me know." Kristian waved his hand once at Faith. "I'm on your side, Faith. I'll argue for you later, you bastard. Stay safe now." "Thank you," said Faith with a smooth smile. "Both of you." Inside, Rin waited until Faith left the area until she tiptoed and leaned over to Kristian to whisper about why he was so genuine in helping Faith even though Kristian barely knew him. At the question, Kristian shrugged. "He wants to defy authority," said Kristian simply, licking his lips. "That's enough for me to want to support him. I can't believe our school would not allow someone the privilege of going on a school trip based on sex." "I wonder how Faith swims for the swim team," said Rin absentmindedly. Kristian laughed at Rin. "He wears a shirt above his swimming trunks." "That makes perfect sense..." "I swear," said Kristian, shaking his head and smiling wickedly at her. "You fail at life, Miss Valedictorian."

Pouting, Rin chased after him inside the storage room. "I dare you to repeat that! Listen to me Kristian!" ************************** Sleeping soundly on top of his blanket, David was rudely woken up by none other than his ten-year-old sister who was shaking his leg with a frown on her face. Yawning loudly, David stretched and checked his alarm clock. He woke up ten minutes later than usual. At first, this didn't matter to him until he fell out of his bed, unable to recall where he placed his tennis racket. His younger sister was used to David like this so she simply shook her head and left the room. David searched under his bed, in his closet, and everywhere else in his room but his tennis racket seemed to have vanished. In his head, David had this mental image of him running laps along with Jordan. Horrified, David dressed up in a hurry and tumbled out of his room and down the stairs. Neither of his parents was surprised at how loud David was this morning. They simply sat in their respective spots around the breakfast table with his sister who was just finished with her food. While David searched around the living room for the tennis racket, his younger sister pointed after him. "Why is David always like that?" asked she, tilting her head to the side. "David no brain," said Mrs. Shin, collecting the plates. "Careless boy." "David's head is empty?" asked the little sister again curiously. "No follow David example," said Mrs. Shin, chiding the younger sister. "I won't, Mommy," said David's sister, bouncing off to the restroom. "I need to wash my hands!" "David," said Mrs. Shin, calling out for her son. David emerged from the shoe closet. "You eat food. You need energy." David sighed and went to his spot. "Yes Mom." "What you lose again?" asked Mrs. Shin, glaring at him sternly. "The books?" "Not my books, Mom," said David, sighing and picking his spoon. "It's okay. It's nothing big. I'll find it soon." "Soon no good," said Mrs. Shin, placing her hand on her hip. "You now find. You need book for school."

"It's not my books," said David, shaking his head. He finished his bowl quickly. "It's nothing big Mom. I'm sure it's around here somewhere." David went up and kissed his mother quickly on the cheek. "I'm off to school now so I'll be going now." "Carefully drive," said Mrs. Shin in warning. David tossed her a weak look. "I will." Leaving the house after picking up his backpack and wearing his flip flops, David frowned and thought about where he could possibly leave his racket. Jumping into the driver's seat, David noticed that from the house to his right, Yvette just left her house too with her backpack. Much to his surprise, she wasn't carrying her racket either and she always had her racket with her. Then, it hit him. He left the racket in the locker. Yvette probably did too. Unfortunately for David, Yvette caught him staring at her. Flushing, David tried to deny it by glancing away immediately but instead, she did it first. She stomped to the minivan. David blinked at the sight. Did she ignore him just now? Watching the minivan, David dropped his jaw. Impossible. He was ignoring her, not the other way around! David cursed at himself for not being part of that carpool anymore since he wanted to know the answer badly. Thinking about Yvette, David tried to concentrate on driving. In the back of his head, he remembered back when he and Yvette met at their community and then found out they went to the same high school. Yvette's family immediately asked David's family to join in the same carpool. From then on, whether David liked it or not, he would have to sit next to Yvette in the middle row of the minivan while the middle school students sat in the back. They talked. They became friends. Now, they went their separate ways and he was going on strike against her. Frowning, David lowered his eyes to his shoes for a second. "Yvette..." When he lifted his head, much to his surprise, he automatically parked in his usual spot to get to school. "I wonder if this strike is actually working. Does she even care? I mean, she's always bossing me around... wouldn't she be unhappy to not have anyone to boss around anymore?" David stepped out of his car and picked up his backpack. "I'm no expert like Jin. Wait." David thought about it. "Didn't he and Jezebelle date for only a week or so? Can it be that Jin is a natural at this?" David nodded firmly. "I'm asking him for help today." Walking to the front of the school, David heard the bell rung loudly in his ear since he was standing under the bell. David cursed his bad luck before he realized that he really did leave home later than usual today. That was the warning bell. David ran down the hall, out into the campus, into another building, and up a flight of stairs. By the time he made it inside his first period classroom, he noticed that Yvette stopped talking to Tasha for a second. Instead of looking at him, she continued with

her conversation. The final bell rung and since David was too awed by Yvette's behavior, he forgot to sit down. For the first time in two years, David was tardy to first period. Meanwhile, in the building adjacent to David's, Kristian managed to come late to class. Instead of sitting down in the front next to Rin, Kristian went straight to the nearest window. Despite his Spanish teacher's protest, Kristian kept his attention outside the window. Slowly by surely, people started standing up and coming over to the window to see what was so eye catching. "What the fuck is that?" cried Kristian loudly, pointing higher. Thanks to that statement alone, the rest of the class ran to the windows, including Mister Sanchez. The only ones who didn't care to go see were Rin in the front of the room and Vance in the back of the room. Kristian snuck out from the crowds and sat down next to Rin with a satisfied look on his face. "You did that so Mr. Sanchez won't give you detention for being tardy?" asked Rin accusingly. "No way," said Kristian, smirking and licking his lips. "I like detention." "Then, why the heck did you waste precious class time for?" asked Rin, annoyed. "For this," said Kristian, sneaking a kiss on Rin's cheek. Rin jumped back and touched her cheek. "I forgot to kiss you this morning and I was trying to find the right opportunity." "You idiot," said Rin, flushed red. "Your lips were still wet." "So?" "What do you mean 'so'?" Smirking now, Kristian poked her cheek. "You're more upset about my lips being wet than me giving you a kiss on the cheek?" Rin realized her mistake and flushed. "No! I am equally offended by both!" "Did you know I have a cheek fetish?" asked Kristian out of the blue. "No, and I did not need to know that," said Rin, holding her cheeks protectively. "I thought you had a boob fetish and that was enough for me." "Boob fetish doesn't exist," said Kristian, frowning. "That's just normal."

Rin tried hard not to hit him at the thought of what happened at her house a few days ago. "What do you mean when you say you have a cheek fetish? How does that work?" "I'm glad you asked Rin-chan," said Kristian, leaning back in his chair and smiling happily. He was waiting for her to ask him. "I think girls with dimples are the greatest beings on Earth. They're so adorable. I want to just cuddle my cheek against theirs every day. Wouldn't that be great Rin-chan?" "I wouldn't know," said Rin, touching her cheek unconsciously. "I don't have dimples..." "You don't need dimples to be cute, Rin-chan," said Kristian with the cutest smile he could manage. "Liar," said Rin, huffing. Glancing over his shoulder, Kristian gave Vance a sad look. "Why doesn't this flirting work on her? It worked on everyone else before her..." Vance shrugged. "She's Rin, that's why." "Good answer," said Kristian, rethinking his plan. However, Kristian noticed Mr. Sanchez coming back at the corner of his eyes. Suddenly, Kristian sat up straight and cried loudly, "What do you mean I'm wasting class time, Rin Hamada?" "What a late reaction," said Rin, blinking. "I wasn't wasting class time!" said Kristian, feigning anger. "I really did see something! Besides, it was only two minutes of stupid Spanish. This class blows anyways!" "Kristian Shiratori," said Mr. Sanchez sternly. "It seems you and Rin Hamada are not getting well at all. She might be a good influence on you." "Who? Her?" asked Kristian, indicating at Rin. "No! Never! I'll never fall for something so obvious." "Oh God," said Rin, dropping her head. "I can't believe this..." "Keep up the good work, Rin Hamada," said Mr. Sanchez proudly, giving her an approving look. "You need to keep an eye on this slacker." "Yes Mr. Sanchez..." said Rin mindlessly, groaning inwardly.

"Really," said Kristian, leaning over to Rin when Mr. Sanchez had his back turned. "Please do keep an eye on me, Rin-chan. Actually, you should never remove them ever." "You are really enjoying this, aren't you?" asked Rin under her breath. "It will take the teachers about another week to find out," said Jordan from across the table. Rin and Kristian stared at him. The white boy just returned to his seat and shrugged. "They don't get information as fast as us. How are you two anyways? Has anyone whisper about you two anymore?" "Now that you mention it," said Rin, thinking. "Not really... people have been giving their approval of us instead for some bizarre reason..." "Ever heard of conformity?" asked Jordan suddenly. Rin lifted her eyes at him. "There are many factors that affect conformity. One of which is status. You tend to listen to those with higher status." "Kristian," said Rin, grabbing a hold of Kristian's shirt underneath the table. "Is that Jordan? He's acting weird..." "Hey Jordan," said Kristian, narrowing his eyes at Jordan. "You just said a ton of shit that I didn't expect you to say. Are you actually smart?" "Oh," said Jordan, yawning loudly. "I'm sleepy... leave me alone... I say random nonsense when I'm... tired... Good night." Without another word, Jordan dropped his head and went to sleep immediately. Rin and Kristian kept their eyes on Jordan curiously. Even though Rin soon forgot about it to pay attention to the board, Kristian thought about what Jordan just said. Kristian leaned back in his seat and started to throw sunflower seeds at the nearest window. Could it be that there was more to Jordan than meets the eye? "You get distracted easily," said Vance in a deadpan voice to Jin the minute the bell rang to signal the end of first period. "Be quiet," said Jin, dumping his notebook in his backpack. "I was worried that someone might be in trouble that's all." Vance stood up and shook his head. "You are one big failure." "I am not talking to you anymore, Vance," said Jin, frowning and standing up with his backpack. "You always make fun of me for no good reason." "Not really," said Vance, pushing his chair to leave. "You are better at that yourself." With that, Vance left the room without glancing back.

Jin glared after Vance. "I swear, he's out to get me." "Second period, Jin," said Jordan happily, pushing Jin out of the room despite the stares they received. "I brought popcorn for this video on friction." Jin smiled. "Awesome." At the corner of his eyes, Jin noticed that Kristian and Rin went the other direction. Jin and Rin locked eyes for a moment before Rin quickly removed them and went back to arguing with Kristian. This made Jin unhappy for some reason because Rin wouldn't even talk to him anymore. Still, Jin shook his head and went his separate way with Jordan. ********************************************* "Is my class that boring David?" During second period, David was caught sleeping in the back of the class. He wasn't the only one though. Grim and Eugene were also sleeping soundly behind their backpacks. Out of the group, only Sidney was awake but he was busy spinning his pen at the moment. However, there was someone who rarely got caught that had to endure Mrs. Coleman's wrath. "Bo," said Mrs. Coleman, tapping a pen on top of the tall Korean's head. "Wake up." Inside the classroom, Bo sat in the far right side behind Bailey and in front of Tiffany. Actually, in comparison to the other Koreans in the room, Bo was the only one who sat in the girls' half of the room. The rest of the boys either sat in the far left or the back. The middle was occupied by random Mexicans of both sexes who wanted to take this AP English Literature class. Picking up his head, Bo grinned at Mrs. Coleman. "Good morning Mrs. Coleman! How are you?" "You need to stay awake in class," said Mrs. Coleman with hard, fierce eyes. "Understood, my Queen," said Bo, saluting her. The rest of the class laughed at his form of address. "You people," said Mrs. Coleman, throwing an eraser at a random Mexican in the middle who was sleeping with his headphones in his ears. "Need to stop watching South Park and go to bed early!" Penny Cinnamon who sat up front in the middle row shot her hand in the air. "I suggest that you kick any slackers out of the class, Mrs. Coleman. We shouldn't have

any tolerance for those who do not take class seriously. Some of us want to learn and actually succeed in life." Yawning loudly, Eugene said dramatically, "Get laid Penny." Penny rolled her eyes and placed her hands on her hips. "Sorry, but I do not talk to vulgar people." "Enough," said Mrs. Coleman, annoyed. "Take out a piece of paper! Reading check!" "Excellent choice, Mrs. Coleman," said Penny, pulling out a pen ready. As for the rest of the class, they groaned and did as she said. Everyone began scribbling down answers except for Faith, who was still sleeping in front of the class in the row closest to her desk. He sat in the male half of the room. To Mrs. Coleman, he seemed to be invisible because she never called on him during lectures or woke him up when she caught him sleeping. She merely passed by him like he was the exception to the rule. David swore he saw Faith left the classroom once to pick up his cell phone outside of the classroom and Mrs. Coleman didn't say anything. Somehow, Faith was passing this class with a B. "Hey Faith," said David, motioning for the other boy to come over after class. Faith came over and tilted his head curiously. "You know... you missed a reading check right?" "I did?" asked Faith, frowning. "I had no idea. Thanks man. Does she give makeup reading checks?" "Why would she give a make-up reading check to someone who was actually in class?" asked David, amused. Faith sighed and rubbed his forehead. "Are you okay Faith? You don't look so great." "It's a Tuesday," said Faith slowly, as if that explained everything. "Bloody Tuesday," said Eugene in good humor. "Yeah," said the other Korean boys in unison. Tiffany just left the classroom and spotted Faith in the middle of the Korean Posse. "Faith Santana, may I have a word with you?" "You're popular today, Faith," said Sidney, surprised. "Shocked that it's not you for once Sid?" asked Grim, smirking and adjusting his dark-rimmed glasses.

"Popular?" Me?" asked Sidney, surprised again. "No, that's not me." As if right on cue, a group of Asian girls passed by and greeted Sidney, who waved back at them even though he had no idea who they were. To those girls, the rest of the Korean Posse didn't exist and that just hurt them, especially David and Eugene. Bo simply grinned at this and shrugged it off before Grim started interrogating him about his reasons for returning to the group. "No reason," said Bo innocently, grinning. "I miss you guys. That's all." "It's not fair Sid!" cried Eugene from the other side of the group. "You already have a girlfriend. Why must you look pretty to pick the other girls up too?" "I believe all of this is part of your imagination," said Sidney, whistling and wrapping his arms behind him to reveal his muscles. Girls who were passing by now stopped to stare at Sidney. "I am not trying to pick girls up and I am not popular at all." Eugene was mad now. "Stop showing off!" "I see the group is still the same as always," said Bo, shaking his head at the sight of Eugene shouting at Sidney out of jealousy. "Eugene and Sid are still best friends and rivals. Do they still play Frisbee on different teams and overwhelm everyone else by trying to beat each other?" "Yeah," said David, joining Grim to the side. David smiled brightly at Bo. "Grim and I are still best friends and playing tennis together as well." Nodding, Bo said softly, "It's great to be back." However, there was sadness to his face that Grim noticed almost immediately and lifted a brow to. Despite this, Grim kept his thoughts to himself. Over at the other end of the hallway, Tiffany warned Faith against ever dating her friend Jennifer. Faith kept his cool the entire time Tiffany went on about how Jennifer often fall victim to cool-looking boys. In the end, Faith nodded in understanding. "No worries, Ms. Wu," said Faith politely. "If your friend asks me out, I will reject her nicely." "You better keep your word," said Tiffany, tapping her glittery pen against the black notebook against her chest. "Or else I'll never forgive you for hurting her." Faith shook his head. "You do not need to concern yourself with me. I am proudly asexual."

"Asexual only means you're not interested in sexual relationships," said Tiffany skeptically. Faith shrugged, tossing her a relaxed smile. "It doesn't mean you cannot have feelings for others. I hear asexual males are more romantic than the average male actually." "Even if that may be true," said Faith, leaning against the wall behind him with one of his legs against the wall. "I have no intention of dating your friend. I already like someone else. You don't have to attack me, Ms. Wu. We are classmates after all." "I don't believe you," said Tiffany, eying him wearily. She frowned severely at him. "How do I know you're not saying this to throw me a curve ball?" "One, I fail at baseball," said Faith, chuckling under his breath. "Two, I'll never lie about my feelings. If everyone were to know about my feelings, it will cause a huge ruckus throughout the entire school." "No doubt about it," said Tiffany, nodding. "Who is it?" "Did my last words mean nothing to you Ms. Wu?" Shaking her head, Tiffany said slowly, "At least, tell me if it's a girl or a boy." Faith bit his lip, insulted at the comment. "Why the hell would I have feelings for a boy?" "I'm just saying," said Tiffany innocently. "I am a proud boy through and through," said Faith, placing his right hand against his chest. "I will prove it to you then, Ms. Wu. You may announce my crush to the whole school if you like. It will answer a lot of questions actually." "Wait," said Tiffany at the sight of Faith heading toward the stairs. "What's her name? I believe you." Frowning, Faith said sadly, "I don't know her name. She's new to the school. Come." "Fine," said Tiffany, catching up to Faith. "I'm interested in who this is too. It is good gossip. I will make sure to make note of this in my notebook. But you must promise that you won't get involved with Jennifer." "You have my word," said Faith, indicating at the stairs. "Let's hurry. I know where she is." "I swear," said Tiffany to herself, staring at Faith's back suspiciously. "If it's her, I will scream."

Hearing that, Faith smiled amusingly at her. ************************************* By the end of second period, Kristian had to endure a kick from behind from Roselle who started to blame him for her being in trouble with the tennis team. Rin merely smiled softly to the side as Roselle argued against Kristian how this would have never happened if he told her to go practice during lunch like a good leader would. Kristian called Roselle outrageous and illogical. Roselle called Kristian useless and mean. The same old. "Rin Hamada," said Roselle, pouting. "You agree with me right?" "Don't drag Rin-chan into this," said Kristian, groaning. "I agree with you of course Roselle," said Rin, sticking her tongue out at Kristian. "Great," said Kristian, throwing his arms up dramatically. "I have two girls who are out to get me and they are now friends and choose to work together against me." "Stop flattering yourself," said Roselle, copying Rin by sticking out her tongue. "We're friends because we're wonderful! It has nothing to do with you, Mister SelfIndulgent!" "Exactly," said Rin, smiling cutely. Kristian shrugged. "You two don't have to deny it. I know it takes two of you to take on the great Shiratori-sama. It is quite an honor to have this bestowed on me by two beautiful, young ladies." "Ew," said Roselle, shivering. "Passive voice!" "Should I start using horrible grammar to irritate you Roselle?" asked Kristian, smirking. "Yuck," said Roselle in distaste. "You are a big meanie!" "I heard," said Kristian, licking his lips. "Rin-chan, do you mind?" "Mind what?" asked Rin, jumping slightly at his sudden address to her. Kristian shook his head and indicated at Roselle. "I need to properly introduce Roselle to the group and formally tell the whole school before the Asian Gossip Girls spread the news themselves. I don't want things to get too messy if you know what I mean."

"That's great," said Rin, trying hard to sound enthusiastic. "I have to go do something anyways! It's not like I want to be with you all day! It's enough that we have five classes together! I'm glad for this actually!" "Denial," said Roselle, beaming at Rin. "I couldn't have said it better myself," said Kristian, patting Roselle on the shoulder. "I'll make it up by being with you during lunch, okay Rin-chan?" "I have club activities," said Rin stubbornly, glancing away with a red face. "I'm not like you. I'm not that bored to spend that much time with you outside of classes." "Okay then," said Kristian, passing by Rin quickly. "Off to the secret hideout, Roselle." Bouncing after Kristian, Roselle momentarily stopped next to Rin first and said under her breath, "You should be more honest with your feelings before you lose the one you like." Rin gawked at Roselle's advice. Roselle simply laughed. "What am I saying? I'm only a writer. What do I know?" Rin watched as Roselle caught up with Kristian and the two went down the stairs together and out of sight. Suddenly, Rin felt depressed. First, she had this weird feeling that she wanted to follow them even though she wasn't a member of the Killers. Second, Rin had this urge to want to join their group. Then, she came to the conclusion that she needed to find a new group to join quickly or else, she'll be this miserable since she had nothing to do during nutrient. "I wonder if either Bo and Jin are happy without me," said Rin, shaking slightly at the thought of the three of them in the classroom together and sharing food Bo made the previous day. "It's only one day and already, I miss them so much. Vance is gone to go solo as well. What do I do now?" Rin knew that if she stood around, she was going to look stupid so she decided to head to her locker to switch off her textbooks. In front of her locker in the same building, she realized she was sharing it with Bo and that he had already decorated with football players without her permission. Scowling, Rin shook her head and exchanged her history book for her English textbook. At the sight of the packaged lunch inside the locker, Rin felt her heart waver. Bo didn't grab his food. Since he wasn't with her and Jin anymore, he was probably going to eat his lunch during lunchtime like a normal person now. This upset Rin for some reason. "Shiny white sneakers," said the person on the other side of her locker. "It's none other than Rin Hamada."

"Sherry," said Rin, blinking at the girl with her braids in bright, red ribbons. As always, she was busy staring at Rin's shoes instead of her face. "I didn't know your locker is so close to mine." "I should be the one saying that line," said Sherry, closing her locker and tilting her head to the side. "I always come to my locker right after second period. This is the first time I've seen you here." "Usually," said Rin, pausing for a second to frown. "Bo brings me the textbooks I need and leaves the ones I don't in the locker by himself..." "Oh right," said Sherry, frowning. "You guys broke up." "Yes," said Rin in a tired voice. "I didn't realize how often Bo must make journeys back to this locker a day just to exchange my books until now. I feel like a horrible person." "It is not your fault, Rin Hamada," said Sherry, picking up an insect that managed to sneak its way into the building into the palm of her hand. "Bos just naturally a self-sacrificing person." "He was," said Rin in a sad voice. Sherry shook her head quickly at Rin's response. "He still is. If you give him the word, I am sure he will return to your side as if nothing has happened at all." "I am the one who told him to leave though..." "Oh..." said Sherry lamely, picking the insect in her hand. "Where's Sidney?" asked Rin quickly, changing the subject completely. "Since officially, no one knows we're a couple aside from the science team and our respective groups, we try not to make it too noticeable around here. News will spread like wildfire." Nodding, Rin said, "Makes perfect sense to me." "Instead," said Sherry, blushing and releasing the insect from her hand. "We meet at our area where only our groups can see us together." "May I join you guys if only for today?" asked Rin, feeling uncomfortable. "Sure," said Sherry, excited. She held Rin's hands and jumped up and down. "You may join us forever if you wish! The girls and I are more than happy to have you!"

"The girls?" asked Rin, confused. "I thought you, Sidney, Lydia, and the twins are part of the same group." "Oh no," said Sherry, shaking her head frantically. "Lydia is but Sid is part of the Korean Posse and the twins are part of the Drama Club Gang. You must have mistaken it by how close we are during science team meetings right Rin Hamada?" "I guess so," said Rin, not sure where she got the idea in the first place anymore. "I'll introduce you to everybody then," said Sherry, hurrying to the door with Rin behind her. "I am sure they will be so glad to have another person in our group." "Out of curiosity, what is your group called?" Sherry stopped in her tracks and turned around, with a proud look on her face. "The Button Cuties!"

************************************* During nutrient, Jin followed Jordan to the usual tree where the Populars sat at. Even though Jin was about to head to the classroom, he was reminded by Jordan that he didn't hang out there anymore. Jin frowned as he walked along Jordan's side. What was Rin doing now? What was Bo doing now? Was Vance still with them? Were they happily talking to one another without him? These thoughts made Jin miserable but he couldn't show it outwardly. Jin didn't want to upset Jordan or any of the girls in his group. No, their group now. Upon arrival though, Jin knew he spoke too soon. The three girls were obviously waiting for them. Victoria looked frightened in between Monika and Freda. As for the cheerleader, she had her hands on her hips with a stern expression on her face. Freda simply looked sad and confused. Glancing up at Jordan, Jin noticed that he tensed up a bit at the sight. Was there going to be a fight? "You took your sweet time like always, Jordan," said Monika, glaring at the white boy. "Hey," said Jordan, trying hard to smile. "What's up? What's with the atmosphere?" "You might be like the leader of our group and shit but you have no fucking right to pick whoever you like to join our group like whatever and hurt our reputation," said Monika, giving Jin hard looks every now and again.

Jordan tried to keep his cool. "I'm fully aware I made the decision on my own but who gives a fuck? I told you about it before." "He did, Monika," said Victoria in a sweet voice. "Shut up, Vic," said Monika, causing the cheerful blonde girl to cling onto Freda's arm for protection. "Well, I don't agree with this crap. You don't give a shit about our opinion and like do what you want all the time like you fucking own us or something when you know that's not the case." "Whatever," said Jordan, turning to Victoria and Freda instead. "You guys agree with my decision right?" Victoria was pale now. "Actually, baby, you should like listen to Monika since she like makes sense you know? She says that Jin doesn't really like fit us and he really doesn't so like it feels weird right? I mean, he is sort of geeky and you know it as well baby, so maybe we should like think this over and come to an agreement yeah?" "You feel the same way Freda?" asked Jordan, frowning at the Hispanic girl now. "Oh God, this is like giving me wrinkles," said Freda, rubbing her temples. "I'm not going to fight." "You are in Mock Trial," said Jordan in reminder. "I know but God, fighting is like no good for the group," said Freda, frustrated. "You should like give it up Jordan and listen to Monika for once since she like knows what she's talking about. Why fight over a new person? I mean I like Jin and all and like he's nice but I don't want our group to like fight over this. Shit. This hurts my brain." "You both agree with Monika then," said Jordan, sighing. "What are you going to do about it?" asked Monika daringly at Jordan. "If you like this geek so much, you can like leave our group and make a new one with him. I don't give a fucking shit about you anyway." "No!" cried Victoria, tearful now. "Monika!" Hesitating, Jordan turned to Jin, who was quiet this entire time. Jordan ignored all the crying and fighting behind him momentarily. Placing his hand on Jin's shoulder, Jordan gave Jin a sad look. Then, Jordan lifted his hand from Jin and returned to his group. For some reason, Jin felt disappointed that Jordan didn't actually follow on Monika's suggestion.

"I'll convince them," said Jordan, tossing Jin a smile over his shoulder. "I'll tell you the result by sixth period." Jin tried to smile. "All right then." "You're not leaving me are you baby?" asked Victoria, clinging onto Jordan's arm. Jordan shook his head. "I will never leave the Populars." "You better not, like it will make so sad," said Freda, who was also frantic about the idea of it. "Jin," said Jordan, standing by the three girls. "I'm sorry, but can you leave for now?" Nodding, Jin said good bye to them all, even Monika. The thought of seeing his old friends crossed his mind. He wanted to sit next to Rin and listen to her rant. He liked those days when he copied her homework and she would scream at him for not doing his own homework. He enjoyed talking about video games with Bo and teaming up with Bo to play pranks on Rin. With addition of Vance, they might be able to think of more games during that short break. Jin would like that a lot. However, when Jin unconsciously walked into the classroom, there was no one but Vance, who sat in the corner of the classroom with his fantasy book. Curious, Jin went up to Vance even though the pale boy didn't even bother looking up at him. "Where's Rin-chan and Bo?" asked Jin softly. "Gone," said Vance, flipping a page. "What happen?" asked Jin, shocked. "Do you really not know?" asked Vance, closing the book and elevating his eyes at Jin. "What happen to them?" asked Jin again. He felt a cold shiver down his spine. "I don't know about Bo but," said Vance, narrowing his eyes at Jin. "Rin is probably alone right now. She is probably sitting somewhere by herself, thinking about how you are the reason why the group broke up." Jin dropped his head. "I don't want to waste my breath on you." With that, Vance opened his book and returned his attention to the pages. Jin went up to Vance and placed his hand in the pages of the book to stop the boy from reading. Now, Vance gave Jin a cold stare.

"If you know Rin-chan is like that," said Jin, shaking. "Why don't you find her?" "Shouldn't you ask yourself that?" At the question, Jin backed up and felt his hand curled up. Suddenly, he thought of how he made the decision to leave the group and join Jordan's to get Jordan's approval for Rin and Kristian. Next, he thought of how Rin saw it as a betrayal as well as half of the school. Tiffany believed in him even though he couldn't tell her why. Last night, he talked to Kristian and left her in the boyfriend's care. Everything added up in Jin's mind and he released the fingers curled up against his palm. "I have no right to see her now," said Jin in a breathless tone. Vance was slightly taken back by Jin's words. "Rin-chan has Kristian now. She is probably with him so there's nothing to worry about. I shouldn't get involved where I don't belong. I know where I belong right now and where I should go." "Do whatever," said Vance, shaking his head. "I don't care." "It wouldn't be you if you did," said Jin, picking up his fallen backpack. "Help Kristian take care of Rin-chan." Vance made a muffled laugh. "Like you have the right to ask that of me." "Will you do it?" "I do whatever I want," said Vance in a cold voice. "Now leave me alone." Leaving the classroom, Jin took a moment to stand in front of it and stared at the digits on top of the door. He might not ever come here again. The very idea of it made Jin uneasy. Eventually, Jin left the building and toward his destination. He walked quickly, knowing that nutrient was short. Jin went past the school buildings and toward the band room. He did not stop there and continue on toward the soccer field. Near the bleachers, on the field of grass, Jin saw the two he wanted to meet at the moment- Bailey Bambridge and Joseph Cruz. At the sight of Jin coming over, Bailey lifted her eyes from Joseph, who was sleeping soundly on her lap. Bailey quickly and gently placed Joseph's head on the sheet they were sitting on. Standing up, Bailey gave Jin an angelic smile. Bailey was as beautiful as all the members of her former group members. "I was expecting you, Jin Song," said Bailey, holding her arm up. "Please sit down." "I want to talk about the Populars and Jordan," said Jin, beginning when Bailey held her hand up. Jin stopped and sighed. "There are so many things I want to ask you

about them. I remember that you told me to save Jordan. I want to know everything in detail since I am part of the Populars now... maybe." Bailey nodded in understanding. "I will tell you everything you want to know. How about we meet after school?" "At the tennis courts?" asked Jin, thinking about the incident yesterday with Jezebelle. "Sure," said Bailey, brushing Joseph's brown hair aside with an affectionate gesture. "I have one quick question, Bailey," said Jin nervously, keeping his eyes on Joseph's childish face. The Mexican was sound asleep. "Why do you care for Jordan so much even though you left the group? I'm surprised that you're not as concerned about the other girls." There was a sad look on Bailey's face. "I am the one who introduced Jordan to the Populars. I started everything so I will do everything I can to help him." I'm sorry to hear that, said Jin, keeping his eyes on the ground. I will do everything in my power to help you Bailey. Jordan is my friend too. I am not sure what is going on but I know something is up and it's bugging me. Thank you Jin Song, said Bailey in a tender voice. I am very grateful. It's nothing, said Jin, smiling softly at her. Jin watched as Bailey hugged the short Joseph Cruz to her. You and Joseph Cruz are getting along well as always. I'm happy for you two. I admire you guys for a very long time. I have a girlfriend now so I can sort of relate. I heard about it, said Bailey, watching Jin leave the area. I hope you the best of luck with your best friend, Jin Song. You are too sweet. Thanks. You have no idea how much I need it. Jin! Hearing his name, Jin spun around quickly to find Joseph Cruz sitting up and rubbing his eyes. The boy had short curly brown hair and round, mouse-like eyes. He was too adorable and short for a junior. Joseph Cruz waved after Jin, who waved back. Say hi to Kristian for me! cried Joseph happily.

Will do, said Jin, waving after the boy still. The Mexican boy tackled Bailey into a hug which looked awkward to Jin because Joseph was shorter than Bailey, even on the ground. Still, Jin couldn't help but think how happy they looked together. I admire them even more than before... they actually look like a real couple. Hey Jin. The Korean boy had no idea he was so popular today. Thinking it was Joseph again, Jin glanced over his shoulder to find that the two were now sharing a kiss. Blushing, Jin was at loss as to who was calling his name when he suddenly bumped into someone in front of him. Before he had any idea what was going on, David dragged him away by the arm. Jin told David that he could walk by himself but David didn't stop and forced Jin with him. Soon enough, Jin found himself in the field adjacent to the soccer field. In front of him, he saw Eugene throwing a Frisbee to Grim. Jin, said David proudly. I lasted two periods so far without talking to Yvette. That's great, said Jin absentmindedly. Jin? This time, Jin knew exactly who asked his name out loud. His heart almost stopped beating at the sound of that voice. He knew exactly who it was. The overwhelming feeling of both relief and anxiety overwhelmed him. Frightened, Jin moved his head toward the owner of the voice. Like he suspected, the person standing in front of him with a staggering height was none other than Bo. Bo... said Jin, almost sadly. Yo, said Bo casually. Hey, said Jin, smiling timidly. You must be kidding me! Immediately, both boys recognized the feminine voice instantly. Without even thinking, Bo and Jin whirled around at the same time to lock eyes with Rin who just came with Sherry. Bo didn't ask for Rin like he did with Jin. Jin didn't say anything either at the sight of his childhood friend. Even though they were separated for a day, both Jin and Bo felt like this was the first time they had met Rin in a long time. In a matter of seconds, Jin thought of all the time he and Rin stayed up together at her house to watch anime on the television. They would watch until two or three in the morning since the best anime episodes didn't air until then. Even

though Jin preferred butter popcorn, Rin wanted caramel popcorn so the two of them always bought the large can of popcorn that had both. It was not until Bo started staying over that he took over the cheese popcorn. Even though Bo had little interest in anime, he would playfully poke Rin and tease Jin while they watched anime. Then, when they slept together on the floor of Rin's room, they would leave the lights on because Rin didn't want it off with the two of them around. Rin would sleep on the far left with Jin in the middle and Bo to the far right. You two want to hear a scary story? asked Bo loudly with his arms behind his neck. No! cried Rin and Jin in unison. For as long as Rin could remember, she liked to sleep on her side so she had her back to the wall and her front to Jin. Both Jin and Bo liked to sleep on their backs so they were both facing the ceiling. Jin was wearing pajamas with Sonic decorated all over his clothes. Bo wore a loose white t-shirt with boxers on. Even though Rin usually wore a night dress, she went with plain green pajamas whenever the two of them slept over. That's no fun, said Bo with wide grin. I promise it won't be too scary. Liar, said Rin, holding onto Jin's right arm for protection. We can tell you're lying Bo, said Jin in a matter-of-fact voice. You have that scary happy grin on your face. We both know you're up to something. I'm hurt, said Bo, chuckling. I know you both are wimps but that's okay because fear is the essence of humankind right? It's all natural selection isn't it? Bo! Bo received a pillow smack courtesy of Rin. I'm playing, Hamada -sama. You know I will never tell a story that will scare your pretty little heart. My heart is not little! said Rin, pouting. Jin suppressed a laugh. Actually, said Jin with a clenched fist. The other two turned to him. I'll take on any scary story right now! Jin nodded firmly. A hero is not afraid of anything, not even dangerous chickens in Oracle of Time. Dangerous chickens? asked Rin and Bo in unison. Never mind, said Jin, realizing that they had no idea what he was talking about. The point is nothing can scare me right now because I am in game mode.

You can't change to game mode any time you want, Jin, said Rin, sticking her tongue out at Jin, who dropped his head. You are just trying to be brave in front of me. She knows too much, said Bo in a soft voice, leaning over Jin's ear. She knows you want to get in her pants so she must protect herself from your hormones Jin. Rin smacked Bo on the head again with a pillow. I heard that Bo! Bo... said Jin, groaning. Oh sorry Jin, said Bo, rubbing Jin on the head. I was confusing you with myself. You closet pervert, said Rin through gritted teeth. Automatically, Jin moved aside for Rin to squeeze in between them to hit Bo multiple times on the head. Jin laughed to the side, not wishing to help either. Die Bo! You know what is scary though, said Jin, interrupting his two friends. They stopped momentarily to listen to Jin. Rin was in the middle of climbing Bo's back. If we don't have days like this anymore... Rin frowned at the thought. Bo sighed. But it won't happen right? We're best friends forever. How can we separate? asked Bo, grinning. I can't bear to leave you the most two adorable kids behind. It definitely won't happen, said Rin, nodding firmly. Not with me as the leader. Jin smiled weakly. You're right, Rin-chan. You're right. While the Korean Posse and Button Cuties gathered around Jin, Rin, and Bo, the three haven't taken their eyes off each other. A few minutes later, Jin and Bo were still speechless at the sight of seeing Rin again after what happened yesterday. Jin had first period with Rin but it wasn't the same. Bo talked to Rin last night but it wasn't the same. This was the JinRinBo time of the day when they usually hung out with each other no matter what. Rin laughed out of disbelief and glanced away. Scary.

Author's Note

You read correctly. There is no Jezebelle this chapter. I know everyone miss her so much right? Anyways, this chapter is so easy to type for some reason. I don't even know why. I guess I love build up chapters as much as dramatic ones. Some chapters are hard to type for whatever reason while others are really easy. Anyways, I'm still amused at Apple's answer at my question from some time ago. Which of the tennis girls is your favorite? And not including Jezebelle. Apple went with Venus which made me laugh. Of course, Koala decides to go MOE and pick Xuan Lan. For someone who claims to be a pedobear, Steve adores Roselle. Now, I can't wait to write the tennis arc. I'm not how sure how far away it is but I'm sure I'll have fun with that arc. Jezebelle will get a ton of screen time so don't miss her too much okay?
