Type of lesson: Teaching vocabulary Skills: speaking, writing, reading, listening Methods: conversation, explanation, dialogue, exercise Classroom interaction: individual work, pair work, Teaching aids: blackboard, chalk, , handouts, laptop Students book: Highflyer Upper intermediate, Longman Time: 50 minutes Aims: to check and improve vocabulary; to check and improve pronunciation; to make students confident in themselves when speaking a foreign language; to create a warm atmosphere; to encourage students to get involved in the conversation.;

Teacher enters the class greets The students greet the teacher and the students, and then T asks if tell the absentees if there are any. there are any absentees. Since SS write theri names onto the small they havent been properly pieces of paper.

Warm up/ 3 min T hands out some worksheets with quotes related to the topic of the lesson and asks the SS to guess what are the missing words from all the sentences The words missing are: COURAGE, COWARD, BRAVE(RY) T Ss Ss read the handouts and try to figure out the missing words. Ss should also think of a definition for courage and coward, being inspired by the quotes they have just solved. - writing T Ss Ss-Ss - listening - speaking - to revive the spirit of the class - blackboard and assure a proper - handouts atmosphere for the lesson.

3. Introducing the new topic / 10 min

T tells the Ss that today they are going to talk about BEING BRAVE and what does that mean .Ss are asked to read the

Picture2:the man might be running to get help or he is looking for something to grab and scare the dog away. Picture 3: the woman is jumping in the water to save the man from drowning.

4. Reading 7 min

Ss are asked if they have ever heard of the Womans Own Children of Courage Award? given each year to special children who have performed extraordinary acts of heroism. Over the past 40 years lots of royal heads have presented the awards, including Princess Diana and Prince Harry. Ss are asked to read an excerpt from a

Ss reas the excerpt and answer the questions: What is the full name of the award? For how long has the award been given? Who were some of the presenters for the awards? Where is the awards ceremony held? To whom is the award given?

5.Listening/ 10 min

6. Writing 10 min

T asks Ss to look on the handout Ss make pairs and try to write at and using the images given to least one sentence per photo in imagine what could have happened there. order to have the story. T gives them a Badge of Ss write their homework in their Bravery and asks Ss to think of notebooks . a person they would like to give to and argue their choise. T appreciates Ss` activity both The Ss also say Good-bye to the verbally -praising the activity of teacher. the Ss- and also by giving marks. Then the teacher says Goodbye and leaves the classroom.
