Rural Lighting & Electrification

400 million people across 80,000 villages in India still do not have access to electricity and depend on kerosene lamps for their lighting needs. For a vast majority of this population, a distributed approach towards power generation is better suited than a model based entirely on centralized grid supply. The two most popular means of generating energy in a distributed manner are biogas based systems and solar power systems, and both of these are growing in a big way in rural India along with a rapid expansion of the existing grid.
