System architecture

EDW.Watchdog is a system, where a Windows NT Service is reading monitoring and action information from a configuration file (encrypted) and performs Monitoring of different applications. Each Monitor is called a Trigger and this contains the necessary monitoring parameters and the time schedule which is the allowance for malfunction The monitoring follows following scheme:

All configuration of the system is written into a configuration file, which is loaded by the service in regular intervals.

Use cases
Outage detection in AMM solutions

Almost all AMM headend systems provide information about power failure at the meters. GEN.Event.Monitor module is available, which query different AMM headend systems to catch the power failure events, reported by the meters. The System allows grouping the events according to topology information and providing statistic information for the occurrences of these events.

5.2.

Meter status monitoring

GEN.Event incorporates GEN.Event.Monitor modules which query the log information and the event information provided by the AMM headend systems to collect events for abnormal device status and device alarms. These events can be grouped and filtered for the type of event, according to topology, and the meter types. Typical events gathered by this feature are meter Tamper alarms.

5.3.

System performance monitoring

GEN.Event incorporates a GEN.Event.Monitor, which monitors performance counters, provided by the operating system of Servers, by special applications and allows triggering alarm situations if configured values are exceeded.
