Valerie Griffith- CCS Spring 2012 1.

1. Students must understand and demonstrate ethical and professional behavior. a. Identify everyday situations that involve confidentiality and ethics b. Meet with supervisor to talk about ethics c. Talk with counselors about confidentiality 2. Identify and become familiar with model of chemical dependency and the lingo within the field a. Attend groups 3x a week b. Ask counselors and supervisor questions c. Practice taking notes on clients 2. I have made a full effort to understand and demonstrate ethical and professional behavior. I identify ethical situations almost every time I am at CCS and have had a few instances where I needed to make sure that my behavior was appropriate. I made an appointment with my supervisor and we talked about ethics and how I was doing. I have been attending all of my groups and I understand the lingo more and more every day. I'm getting confident that I could try and run a workshop sometime in the near future. 3. For the first objective, I haven't really talked with eoimselors about confidentiality but I did talk to my supervisor about it. I also enjoyed my talk about ethics with my supervisor and felt that it was an important activity in meeting my objective. All of the learning activities for the second learning objective are crucial to that learning objective.

Valerie Griffith- CCS Spring 2012 4. One thing that I wasn't expecting was how smart a lot ofthe clients are. I know that I'm an addict too and intelligent but these people are so brilliant. Another thing is that I'm learning techniques from the counselors that I work with without even noticing. I can see how the counselors start with one thing and end up at another. I don't think I would notice these techniques if! weren't a student. 5. #17- I'm meeting this standard by communicating with clients and the staff at CCS. I also have been able to set up boundaries with clients and family members to maintain ethics and boundaries. #19- I have been looking over my ethics all of the time and realizing the situations that I am witnessing and making sure that I handle them professionally. #20- My biggest issues at my internship have been around myself. I've been trying really hard to open up and be comfortable at CCS. I've been reflecting on who I am and my values to try and work through each day, which are sometimes emotionally draining. I also have been learning about other cultures, like Lummi, and it's has been very interesting. 6. Knowledge & Skills- I have gained a ton of information from CCS. I have learned two different styles of counseling, how to approach different clients, I can do UA's, I'm getting quicker and more efficient at filing and I'm getting a lot ofthe lingo and medications down.

Disposition- I enjoy going to CCS. I know that my help there is valued and I get a lot of appreciation for my hard work. There are some days where I'm exhausted but I feel better when I go to group. Cultural Competencies- I'm getting to know how vulnerable the chemical dependent are and how much they are going through. I feel important to be a support to them during this tough time. I also am learning more about Lummi, which I had never knew about before, and I fmd their culture very interesting. 7. As a practicum student, I have learned a lot so far. I have come to the conclusion that this is the career field that I want to go into. I'm a strong individual who is ready to help others with their addiction. The only thing I need to work on is talking more with people and opening myself up. I come off as shy and I'm really not a shy person. I also want to try and have more fun during my internship and try to not be so serious all of the time.

8.
The agency gives me just the amount of supervision I need. I work a lot independently, but that does not bother me. If I need help or have any questions there is always someone there to ask. I can always debrief with counselors ifI'm having a rough time. 9. I am continuing on at CCS for Internship I and I want to start helping more with the workshops that we do during group. I will be attending the same groups. The counselors want to give me more tasks to do such as calling clients. I am excited to continue my growth and learn more.
