Date

My design practice has a focus on image design, working with type as image, hand drawn or digital illustration and pattern design. My work is mainly produced for print and so the nal presentation of a piece, including stock choices and the use of print nishes, is an important aspect of my design. The work I create and apply my imagery to has a strong focus on branding, as well as packaging and publication design. As well as my love for print, I am also interested in website design. I am well organised, enthusiastic, determined and reliable and I am always looking to learn new skills as I strive for personal development. I am driven by problem solving and creating interesting, innovative concepts to make my work stand out. The briefs I have completed for this module have allowed me to work on previous targets that I have set myself, identied after evaluating the last module. For example, I wanted to gain more experience of live work, as well as working on collaborative briefs, so I made this my priority. I have also worked on developing existing skills, such as publication and packaging design, and gained new skills, in particular, website design. Continuous weekly evaluation has allowed me to monitor my progress throughout the module. The work I have produced for this module is evidence of the development and improvement of my design practice, helping to give me condence in my skills and to prepare me for life after BAGD.

Research Areas & Themes For my nal major project, my responses to my briefs have covered a range of nal outcomes, including branding, publication and packaging, and have been for both print and for web. This means that the areas I have researched are quite diverse. Print has been my primary focus, but an interest for website design developed after an industry placement, and so, I have continued to research design for screen. I have brought the main themes of research together in to my design context publication, with the following chapter titles, showing my main areas of interest: branding; illustration; packaging; paper; print; publication; type as image and web design. This publication helps to sum up who I am as a designer, evidencing studios and designers whose work has been inuential in my design development. My design style has developed as I have completed my nal major project, meaning that I have researched a wider area of design, as I have gained new skills and found new interests, such as with publication design. Branding has always been an interest, so research in this is apparent from the beginning of the module. Another theme in my work is retail design, so I have undertaken both primary and secondary research, considering what is already available, and how it works, as well as what the target audience want. Interests outside of Graphic Design have been inuential towards what I have researched, such as Graphic Design for fashion and beauty, as well as childrens illustration. My research is reected in my design practice, as well as my updated design presence. Research includes books and websites I have looked at, events I have attended, samples I have collected, and talks with industry professionals that have inspired me.
