Mrs. Roettger’s Classroom Newsletter

Welcome Students!
I’d like to take a moment to welcome all students and parents to the
first grade! My name is Mrs. Roettger, and I am going to be your
teacher this year. We will be learning a lot about each other as the year
goes on, but I would like to introduce myself to all of you.

My name is Lizzie Roettger, and I am very excited to be your teacher

this year! My hometown is Blacksburg, Virginia, where my parents still
live. I have lived in Richmond for 8 years, and I have my teacher’s
license from the University of Richmond. I live with my husband David,
two cats, and two chinchillas. I am really looking forward to getting to
know each and everyone of you this year!

Calling all Parents!

If you would like to volunteer in our class this year, don’t worry! We
have lots of opportunities for parents to become involved. I always
welcome parents to come in a help with a project, make photocopies,
or volunteer to be a mystery reader! Next week a short survey will be
going home to see where parent interest lies. Please return it in your
child’s folder if you would like to help out this year. As always, feel
free to contact me with any questions you might have about ways to
get involved in our class!

Book of the Week

In our first week of school, the children will be

introduced to Emily, in Emily’s First 100 Days of
School, by Rosemary Wells. The book follows
Emily through her first 100 days of school, as she
learns to sing, read, and dance. We’ll enjoy
learning about Emily’s days at school in this fun,
fact-filled book. As the week goes on, ask your
child about Emily and her adventures!
