LESSON PLAN

Teacher: Fazakas Monica Florentina School: coala Gimnazial Nr 1 Srbi Date: the 12th of October 2012 Time: 50 minutes Number of students: 25 Grade: 5th Textbook: WOW Unit 3: Topic: Numbers 20-100 Type: acquiring new information Skills: writing, speaking, reading, listening Teaching techniques: conversation, individual work, group work, dialogues, exercise, explanation, game. Aids: textbook, pupils` notebooks, cards with numbers, chalk, blackboard, worksheets. Lesson competences: By the end of the lesson students will be able to: Recognize the numbers from 20 to 100; Be able to write the numbers in letters; Use numbers together with nouns in the plural; Identify the numbers written with letters; Make up sentences using the prompts.

ACTIVITY 1: WARM UP Aim: to create a pleasant atmosphere and to relax. Procedure: The teacher greets the pupils. The pupil on duty tells absents; the teacher writes absents in the roll; then the teacher checks the homework and the previous knowledge. As a warm up activity pupils sing the song Five little monkeys. Estimated time: 5 minutes INTERACTION: teacher pupils ACTIVITY 2: LEAD IN Aim: to raise interest in topic Procedure: The teacher tells students that last time they have learnt the numbers from 1 20, and that is why they are going to play the game BINGO. The teacher groups the students in four, using the numbers 1,2,3,4 and they start the game.

Timing: 5 minutes INTERACTION: teacher- pupils ACTIVITY 3: PRESENTATION Aim: recognize the numbers from 20 - 100 Procedure: The teacher writes on the board the numbers from 20 to 100 telling the pupils how they form the numbers and their pronunciation. The pupils copy in their notebooks the numbers. After the pupils have finished copying the words the teacher reads the numbers out loud. Pupils listen. The teacher reads once more the numbers asking the pupils to repeat. The pupils repeat. The teacher shows a number and asks a pupil to read. The pupil reads the number. Timing: 10 minutes Interaction: teacher-pupil ACTIVITY 4:PRACTICE Aim: find out the numbers written in letters Procedure: Teacher joins the pupils in four (red, yellow, blue, green) groups. The teacher gives to children working sheets and asks them to read the following text and to find out the numbers written with letters, writing them in the working sheet. The pupils read the text and write the numbers in their sheets. After the children have finished the task, the teacher asks them to talk, in their groups, about the answers they found. The teacher regroups, by number, the pupils and asks them to fill in the worksheet. At the end of the activity the teacher asks the pupils to give him the worksheets. The teacher makes another group and asks the pupils to add the given numbers and colour the drawing according to the given indications. At the end of the activity the teacher checks the worksheets. Timing: 15 minutes Interaction: teacher- pupil, ACTIVITY 5: FEED-BACK Aim: to fill in the numbers either in ciphers or letters Procedure: The teacher gives the pupils the worksheet asking them to fill in either with numbers or with letters. The students write on the worksheets. The teacher asks pupils to make up sentences using the cards shown by her and the structure I have got 20.. . The students make up sentences. Timing: 12 minutes Interaction: pupil-pupil, teacher- pupils.
