Gorgeous Geek Chapter LXIII: Lost and Found

Chapter LXIII: Lost and Found

That morning, Tiffany woke up to her alarm clock with a headache. She didn't feel like getting out of bed so she closed her eyes and tried to go back to sleep. However, when she stared blankly into the darkness of her eyelids, Tiffany suddenly remembered why she was so upset for the majority of yesterday and early this morning. The Asian Gossip Girls might be splitting up thanks to Jennifer breaking the rules that Tiffany had tried so hard to maintain, even with the rest of her previous friends gone with graduation. Maybe, said Tiffany, glancing at her monitor at Grim's blog. Maybe I should talk to Jin about it... if he's able to help everyone else, he should be able to help me. After Tiffany got out of bed and changed, she noticed herself in the mirror. She looked terrible this morning. The bags under her eyes. The knots in her hair. The lack of color in her face. Annoyed at herself, Tiffany went straight to the restroom to tidy herself. In the middle of brushing her hair, she thought about how she shouldn't bother Jin with her problems. He had enough on his mind without her interference. I was planning to disband the Asian Gossip Girls after I graduate this year, said Tiffany to her mother at the kitchen table. Her mother simply nodded at her, though Tiffany doubted that she was actually listening. But it seems like I might have to disband it earlier than I thought. I see dear. At her mother's indifference tone, Tiffany sighed. She knew her mother thought that her social life in school was trivial. Usually, when Tiffany was feeling down, she confide her feelings to Jennifer, Eunice, or Jin. She couldn't do that with Jennifer because she was the problem. She couldn't do that to Jin because she didn't want to bother him. There was only Eunice left and right now, Tiffany felt the worst about her. Thanks to her and Jennifer, Eunice was torn and upset at both of them. I should call Eunice, said Tiffany, pushing her bowl of rice away. I talked to Eunice's mother yesterday actually, said Mrs. Wu, taking off her apron. And? asked Tiffany, a bit nervous at the answer. She doesn't want either you or Jennifer to call Eunice at home anymore, said Mrs. Wu, washing her hands at the dishwasher. Her mother also confiscated her cell phone too so don't try to call her there either. Isn't that a tad extreme? asked Tiffany, frowning. Her parents are taking extreme measures to rid of her extreme thinking. Extreme thinking? asked Tiffany, shocked. Eunice didn't seem like a radical person to Tiffany. What sort of extreme thinking could they be talking about? Do you know what she means exactly? Tiffany's mother had a blank look on her face. You don't know, Tiffany? Eunice and I don't really talk about our family situations. I see, said Mrs. Wu thoughtfully, pausing to think over what she heard. From what I was told, Eunice doesn't see the point of going to a private or public university after high school. She wants to pursue photography by going to a photography school. Oh no, said Tiffany, gaping. Her parents will kill her. This is why they're taking everything away from her until she changes her mind. Eunice is so emotional in general, said Tiffany, shaking her head. How is she able

to last this long against them? She should have broken down by now. I have no idea either. Tiffany glanced out the window at the fog outdoors. She must be really passionate about pursuing photography then. She should know better, said Tiffany's mother, chiding. Who makes money off photography? It's a waste of time. To you and Mrs. Hong but, said Tiffany, standing up and leaving the kitchen. Not to Eunice. Going upstairs to grab her backpack, Tiffany thought to herself, Is this really the time for Jennifer and I to be fighting? Over at the Song's resident, Jin clapped his hands over his ears at the crashing noise he heard from the other side of the door. In the mornings, it was usually Jezebelle who woke up before Jin to take an early shower and stay in the bathroom to take care of her hair and face. Today though, not only did she not wake up to do her usual, she never left her room. Jin knocked on the door, concerned over her health. I don't want to see you, talk to you, or hear from you! screamed Jezebelle from the other side of the door. Jin clapped his ears right when she threw something at the door again. Leave me the fuck alone! We have to go to school, Fi, said Jin in a pleading voice. Fuck school. Jin frowned and moved up closer to the door. Fi, it's okay. I know you have to forfeit your match yesterday thanks to Coach but the team won nevertheless. I don't care, cried Jezebelle on the other side of the door. I fucking lost. No, you didn't, said Jin insistently. Coach saw the blood on your shirt and forced you to forfeit. I'm sure you would have won if you played against that other girl. Shut up! I don't want to hear it! Scratching the back of his head, Jin didn't know what to do. He wanted to see her, but he couldn't since she locked the door. Even if Jezebelle had to forfeit her match, Jin didn't believe she would throw a tantrum like this. She was more mature and cool-headed than that. Why was she acting like this? Did forfeiting mean the world to her? Before Jin could come up with a convincing argument to see Jezebelle, his father came up the stairs and gave him a lecture about how he was not allowed to ditch school for his girlfriend. His father reminded him how the reason why they agreed to allow Jezebelle to live here in the first place was for him to be more sociable, not to be a delinquent. I understand, said Jin with a sweet smile. I'll go to school. With that, his father left him alone. Jin glanced at Jezebelle's door once before he went back inside his room and picked up his backpack from the ground. Before Jin headed to school by himself, he stopped by Jezebelle's room and asked for the last time whether she was going with him or not. Fuck no! Frowning at her reply, Jin released a heavy sigh and went down the stairs by himself. In the back of his mind, Jin was worried about Jezebelle. She seemed so out of character for someone who was usually more composed than this. Then again, he shouldn't feel so empty going to school alone since he did this every day for the past two years. Today was no different than how it was two years ago. I hope you feel better, Fi, said Jin, looking up at her window from outside the house. He went up to his car before he stopped and sighed. I'll call you every break to check up on you... *************************************************

That morning, Jordan woke up after a dream he never imagined he would have. This was a sign. Burying his head under the pillow for a few seconds, he threw it off and rolled over on his bed, facing the ceiling. He glanced over at the time. It was about time for him to wake up and take a shower. With that in mind, he hurriedly got off his bed and headed for the restroom. Right when Jordan made it to the bathroom door, it flung open to reveal a tiny Japanese girl with a towel around her body along with a lot of steam. Rin stopped in her tracks at the sight of Jordan shirtless. She didn't think much of it since she was already used to him half-naked by now but somehow Jordan made a big deal of it. Jordan screamed and ran back into the guest room. How awkward, Rin thought. Now, Rin was suspicious and banged on the door. Jordan, you can't lock yourself in my guest room. Jordan had his back to the door and shouted, Wear some clothes woman! I'm a woman now? asked Rin, pouting. I thought I was sexless. You are sex- Jordan paused. Rin gasped. -less. Open this door right now before I find a way to come in and beat you up! No! said Jordan dramatically on the other side. No more kinky stuff! What? shrieked Rin in outrage. Since they were so loud, Ms. Hamada went up the stairs to see what was going on. She came just in time to hear Jordan made the kinky comment, gaped, and ran off to her own room. While Rin cursed Jordan out so he would open the door, Ms. Hamada came up to her daughter and handed her a black bag. Mother? asked Rin, receiving the bag suspiciously. This may come in handy, Rin-chan, said Ms. Hamada happily, going back downstairs and humming a lullaby tune to herself. Rin checked the contents of the bag before she dropped it on the ground. Mother! Rin ran down the stairs. Where in the world did you buy those horrible things? Since Jordan heard Rin run away, he opened the door and checked outside carefully. He was safe for now. However, when Jordan tried to escape down the stairs, he noticed the black bag on the floor. Curious, Jordan picked it up and checked the contents on the inside. Like Rin, he dropped the bag and went back inside, scared. I knew it, said Jordan, shivering in the corner. The reason why Bo calls her 'Queen' and 'Your Highness'... my dream... and her control over Kristian in general. There's no doubt about it. Jordan remembered his dream again and shook his head. She's a dominatrix in disguise. She's only a nerd in disguise to catch helpless victims like myself. In the middle of his ramblings, Jordan heard a car outside Rin's house. Jordan jerked up and went over to the window to see that Kristian was here to pick her up. He was leaning against his car and looking cool for all the students passing by to see him. Inwardly thanking Kristian, Jordan waited until he heard Rin head to her room and changed into her school clothes before she went downstairs and out the house. Soon enough, she and Kristian walked off together for school. I'm safe, said Jordan, leaving the room only to meet Ms. Hamada smiling at him. Hello Ms. Hamada. How long will you be staying here, Jordan-kun? asked Ms. Hamada sweetly. I was supposed to move out yesterday but Kristian was too busy to pick me up. Ms. Hamada tilted her head. You may stay here if you like. No, that's fine. Really. Thank you.

You really do look like a bishounen from Rin-chan's shows, said Ms. Hamada in awe. Jordan blushed since he was still half-naked. No wonder Rin-chan likes you so much. She really doesn't like me, said Jordan, trying hard to explain to the other woman. Nonsense, said Ms. Hamada, patting him on the shoulder before picking up the black bag. She's only mean to boys she likes. She likes you so she threatens to hurt you. Jordan laughed uneasily. My Rin-chan is such a sadist. With every new line, Jordan thought about his dream and how he had more proof to his theory that Rin was actually a dominatrix underneath her nerd exterior. Everything made sense now. Her personality. Her temper. Her words. Why didn't he notice this before? Why did it take a dream to make him realize this? That's nice but I have to go to school, said Jordan awkwardly. Yes, you do that, said Ms. Hamada, beaming. Sometimes, I wonder if Kristian and Rin-chan work together because Kristian is such a sadist like Rin-chan. Really... said Jordan, speechless. He wasn't surprised though. Just by looking at your face, said Ms. Hamada, heading toward her room with the black bag. I can tell you're a masochist. Rin-chan will be happy to know that. Groaning, Jordan muttered, I don't want her to know that. It'll be the end of me. Jordan paused and smacked his head. What am I saying? I'm neither! I don't care for pain! Luckily for Jordan, when he left Rin's house, he noticed Jin at the corner of the street with a group of girls following him from behind at a safe distance. Even though Jordan couldn't take talking to the other Jin yesterday, he knew that Jin should be back to his normal self. Immediately, Jordan walked as quickly as he could to Jin, who tried his hardest to act normal. Hey Jin my bud, said Jordan, searching. Where's Jezebelle? She's staying home today. Sick? Something like that. Jordan decided that he shouldn't ponder further on the whereabouts of Jezebelle since Jin seemed uncomfortable talking about it, About Ri-chan... You mean Rin-chan? asked Jin, confused. Yes. That girl. Jin tilted his head. What about her? Do you know if she's a... said Jordan, wondering whether he should tell Jin what he thought of Jin's childhood friend. A... Jordan noticed Jin's curious eyes and decided he should explain himself. You see... I had this dream about her. Jin smiled softly. That's cute, Jordan. Blushing, Jordan shook his head frantically. It's not what you think! It must be painful, said Jin in a wavering voice. To like someone who's taken. You have no idea, said Jordan, shaking his head. Then, he realized why Jin said that and added quickly, Wait! Jin, I really don't like her that way. You're lucky then, said Jin, patting Jordan on the back. You fall out of love easily. It's less of a bother that way. Jordan blinked. No, that's not what I mean either. I'm sorry, said Jin, shaking his head and looking down. I'm not understanding you correctly today, Jordan. I'm slightly down about Fi so I'm not thinking correctly either. Jordan nodded weakly. Oh... Yeah... Suddenly, a few seconds later, Jordan realized what Jin had done to him. No, that's

not why I'm flustered either! I don't know how to explain it! Trying hard to look and sound cheerful, Jin asked, What is your dream about Jordan? I'll be more than happy to listen to you. Even though Jordan knew that he shouldn't bother Jin when he was this upset about Jezebelle being absent from school, he thought it was better if he told Jin about it. If there was one person he could trust with all his thoughts and feelings, it was Jin. Sadly, the only thing he couldn't tell Jin was his own feelings for the boy. Still, Jordan knew it didn't matter too much since his feelings were never going to reach Jin ever. Other than that, he was free to talk about anything else, especially in regards to Rin. Once they reached the school, they escaped the crowds to the back of the gym. Since it was Jordan's usual hiding spot, he felt most comfortable talking to Jin about it here. Taking a deep breath, Jordan told Jin that he didn't remember most of the dream but he did recall seeing Rin handcuffing him to her bed and such. They didn't go far but it still disturbed him nevertheless. At the end of his quick ramblings, Jordan returned his attention to Jin who had wide eyes on his face. Jin? I can honestly say, said Jin, scratching the back of his head. I never had dreams about Rin-chan like that. I blame this on me seeing her too much lately, said Jordan with a sigh. And also that I haven't had sex in a while. Jordan shrugged. It's like my unconscious telling me that I need a girlfriend instead of a female friend. Jin nodded. That may be it. I mean, female friends don't even exist really, said Jordan, shaking his head. Maybe for you and Rin-chan since you've known her since elementary school, but it's not the same for most boys and girls. You can't really see a girl as just a friend. Er... said Jin, frowning. I guess? You may be a special case, said Jordan, finding this conversation weird now. Jin glanced away. I'm not. Right. I told you before, said Jin, sighing and rubbing his right foot against the ground. I suppress all my thoughts and desires, that's all. That's why sometimes I can't control it. Yeah, like yesterday. Jin groaned. I can't believe what I did yesterday. I became so competitive that I lost my mind. I'm sorry for everything I said to you, Jordan. Don't be, said Jordan, sitting down against the wall instead. I'm used to it. I'm really sorry though. Jordan smiled up at Jin. No, really. It's fine Jin. Er... said Jin, scratching the back of his head again out of habit. It's not that I don't have any desires for the girls around me. It's just that I already have a girlfriend and I really only care about her. I guess I don't pay enough attention to the other girls around me. Jin frowned. I didn't mean that. I do care for other people, including girls, but I don't see other girls as being girls. Am I making any sense? It does, said Jordan insistently. You're really loyal to her. Yeah, er, I hope so. Jordan widened his smile. Jin, do you think I can be happy without being in a relationship? It's one of those things I haven't really thought much about but it's always been in the back of my mind. I can't really answer that question for you Jordan, said Jin sternly. I know you

only date girls in the past as a form of emotional support, but now, I can help you with that. I don't want you to keep dating and dumping girls. True, said Jordan in agreement. After I saw Ri-chan the other night, I don't have the heart really to get together with another girl only to break up eventually. Jordan released a heavy sigh, unable to think. Especially since I like someone already. Blushing for accidentally saying it out loud, Jordan added quickly, Not that it matters much. I know I'm not an expert in love or relationships, said Jin slowly, rethinking his words right after. But if you like someone and even if that person is already taken, you should at least let them know your feelings. Jordan's eyes widened at Jin with his rapid heartbeat in his chest. It might not be now or even anytime soon, but it must be hard to hold onto such feelings all to yourself and never let them know about it. It's both unfair to yourself and to them. That's what I believe. But what if they never talk to you again after you tell them about your feelings? Jin looked straight into Jordan's eyes. If you truly love someone, it's a chance you must be willing to take. Stunned, Jordan muttered, Is that so... Like I said, said Jin, crouching down in front of Jordan and patting him on the shoulder in a friendly manner. Maybe not now or anything sooner but in the future. Plus, I'm sure Rin-chan won't hate you for it. She'll probably be confused and ignore you for a couple of days but she'll get over it. About her, said Jordan with a thoughtful look on his face. She's not one of those girls who like to torture boys for fun right? Fi or Rin-chan? asked Jin, confused. Jordan blinked. Ri-chan? Oh, said Jin, laughing. No, she's not like that. Rin-chan actually hates anything that has to do with romance or sex. She's a pretty dry person when it comes to those things. The only thing she is even remotely interested in is boy love. Jordan reddened, remembering how much she talked about that in the past. But even then, she's mostly interested in the spiritual part of the relationship than the physical aspect of it. So she's not a dominatrix... A what? Jordan shook his head. Nothing. Thanks Jin. Thanks for telling me that. Smiling now, Jin said, I'm happy I can help you, Jordan. I may not have the courage now to confess my feelings like you said, Jin, said Jordan, feeling extremely nervous. He didn't want to say this to Jin but he thought that it was better he said something now than for Jin to ask him about it later out of curiosity. But maybe I will once I become a stronger person one day. I'm glad to hear that, said Jin reassuringly. Jordan beamed. Yes... thanks. With that serious conversation behind them, Jordan asked Jin about what happened with the tennis team yesterday. At the mention of that, Jin told Jordan that Roselle, Sophronia, Yvette and Venus, and May and Mai managed to win their matches with the support of Wilson High students behind them and Jezebelle's expertise in the other team's girls' weaknesses. As for Jezebelle herself, Coach made her forfeit her match since they won anyways and she was in no condition to play. Was she mad afterward? asked Jordan curiously. Jin shook her head. She seemed perfectly fine yesterday. She did curse Coach out a couple of times in the car but besides that, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Jin

thought about it and shook his head. She went to bed earlier than usual but that was about it until this morning. I see, said Jordan, thinking. A late reaction then? I think so. Now, it was Jordan's time to comfort Jin. It's okay, Jin. There's nothing you can do. She had to forfeit her match. It was for her health. I know and I'm on Coach's side but, said Jin, lowering his eyes. I have never seen her this upset over something before. It hurts me to see her like this and I feel like there's nothing I can do for her except go to school and worry about her here. And I know worrying doesn't help at all. Jin, said Jordan, drawing Jin's full attention back to him. Ask Wendy or one of the other girls Jezebelle is close to. I'm sure it's because you're a dude and her boyfriend that she won't tell you, but if it were someone like Wendy... Yeah, said Jin, brightening up a bit. I'll do that. I hope you'll be able to help her like you do with everyone else. Suddenly, Jin came up to Jordan. Jordan. Yes? Besides the one-sided love, said Jin, gazing intently at Jordan. Are you happy? I'm a lot better than before, said Jordan honestly, blushing at the intense stare. Why? Is there any reason in particular? Jin thought about why he wanted to be popular in the first place and muttered, No, it's nothing you should worry about. ******************************************************** During the short break for Jazz Band, Kristian checked his work schedule recorded on his cell phone. From now on, Jordan was going to work on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Thanks to basketball practice, Jordan was going to work a later shift at around two hours after Kristian. Even though Kristian's boss liked Jin a lot more and asked about him, Kristian wasn't sure whether Jin would work want to work for them if they had a spot open later on. He could only hope since it would be nice for all three of them to work together. I have Friday off this week, said Kristian, surprised at the scheduling. Rin-chan! Rin picked up her head from her history book. What? Since they were across the room from each other, Kristian raised his voice, You want to do something after school Friday? Don't you have errands to run this Friday too? Kristian shook his head and smiled broadly, No. That's why I asked. I have so much to study for this weekend though, said Rin, upset. She had been procrastinating so much more ever since she began dating Kristian. Also, I have a ton of fansubbing and scanlation work too. Fuck that, said Kristian in disbelief. Stop being so Rin-chan. What do you mean stop being me? Haven't you learned anything from yesterday? asked Kristian, wrapping his arms behind his neck and leaning back in his piano seat. You shouldn't try to hide your feelings for the sake of pride. I'm definitely not hiding my feelings! Kristian shrugged, I love you and all Rin-chan but you have to give me a break once in a while. I know, I know, said Rin, slightly grouchy. Are you going take Jordan back or not?

No shit. I'm not leaving him at your house. You did yesterday, said Rin accusingly. Kristian smirked at her now. I had an important guest over at my house yesterday so I couldn't really have Jordan over. Who may this guest be? asked Rin, lifting a brow. An uncle of mine, said Kristian, shrugging. I'm not allowed to give out his name. I'm your girlfriend, said Rin, smiling cutely at him from across the room. You can tell me. I don't have many friends anyways and you know I won't tell anyone. Half a minute ago you would have done anything to deny our relationship and not spend time with me on Friday, said Kristian, feigning annoyance. And now, you're willing to tell everyone you're my girlfriend because of my uncle. Is he a Japanese celebrity? asked Rin, excited. Maybe, said Kristian, keeping it vague. Tell me Kristian! Maybe if you'll marry into the Shiratori family one day, said Kristian, licking his lips. Rin rolled her eyes at him. I will introduce him to you. For now, I'm not allowed to give out his identity, not even to you or my best friend Cory. Fine, said Rin, wrapping her arms in front of her chest. We'll go out on Friday. Sweet, said Kristian, playing random notes on the piano now. Though I still can't tell you who he is. It doesn't matter, said Rin, trying hard not to sound disappointed. I can't wait until Friday then, said Kristian, relaxing in his seat. Kristian, said Rin, placing down her book carefully and going up to him. Kristian held his arms out so Rin automatically sat on his lap. Penny and the other members of the Elites message me online yesterday about my absence from school. Forget them. Rin felt uneasy. It's not that I care about what they say- Obviously, you do care what they because you're talking about it. Frowning, Rin glared at him, Sometimes you can be really cold. Who gives a rat's ass what they say? asked Kristian with a stern look on his face. Rin's eyes widened in surprise at how dark his eyes looked right now. Do they dictate how you should think? How you should act or talk? Definitely not. But what? But, said Rin, stunned. Kristian was usually so supportive and comforting. She almost felt empty talking to him now. I don't think they're wrong in this case. About you ditching school? asked Kristian in a careless voice. Rin nodded. Yes. That. Exactly. Your mother gave her permission by writing that note for you, did she not? asked Kristian, tilting his head to the side so that he could remove the hair from her face and tuck them behind her ears. Then, you're not actually ditching. Ditching can get you in trouble. In this case, you're not in trouble at all. You're off the hook. But don't you see? asked Rin, upset now. Mother's just covering up my ditching for me. This is the exact reason why Father's family is so against Mother raising me alone. They want me to grow up to be a good young lady. Kristian chuckled loudly at her, I don't understand. Are you on his side now? No, I'm just saying that- You're saying that ditching is wrong and you completely regret doing it, said

Kristian with an amused look on his face. Rin was speechless now. His voice was so harsh. I get it. You're not a delinquent. You'd rather stay in school where you belong. Is that what you want to tell me? I don't know what I want anymore, said Rin under her breath. And I can't seem to explain it to you in words either of us can understand. I do understand, said Kristian insistently. I understand everything you're saying, Rin-chan. I just find it pointless to talk about. Pointless? asked Rin, gasping. What if my grades take a hit for it? From one absence? asked Kristian in awe. Rin scowled. Attendance is important. I see how it is, said Kristian, nodding. I'm the bad guy here who made you ditch your precious school. Since you regret it so much, why don't you just straight out and say it? We should be more honest with each other right? You don't understand at all, said Rin, standing up now. You ditching is normal. It won't affect you at all. As for me, Rin paused and glanced away. Everyone will look at me differently. I don't want to face them. We talked about this in the mall already, said Kristian, frowning. We know ahead of time people will talk about you for this. You have to learn to ignore them, that's all. You're tougher than that, Rin-chan. Rin bit her bottom lip. I want to be with my group during nutrient today. It's probably for the best, said Kristian, sitting up straight and returning his attention to the piano since the rest of Jazz Band were coming back inside. It'll die down Rin-chan. Give it a couple of days. By next week, everyone will be talking about something else. That's how Wilson High is. I'm never ever ditching again, said Rin, heading to her chair. Let's agree on that and leave it at that. Once Rin was back in her chair, she noticed Edwin tossing her a dirty look on the way in. By the way he treated her today, she would have thought he hated her more than usual. She didn't understand him. He admitted that he liked her but at the same time, he treated her like an enemy. Besides Edwin though, Rin felt helpless. More than anything, she wanted to be safely by Kristian's side during break today since the Elites were probably going to track her down. Since Rin didn't want to admit her helplessness, she suggested the opposite and hoped he would convince her otherwise. Kristian didn't though so she didn't know what else to say or do to change his mind. Plus, she couldn't say anything after his cold attitude earlier. I'm no good at relationships, thought Rin to herself when Mr. Chan shut the door behind him, signaling that break was over. I keep messing up. What am I doing wrong? ***************************************************** On top of her bed, Jezebelle had her back to the door. She was hugging her teddy bear and staring blankly at the wall. She felt so humiliated. Of all the schools in their league, she wanted to defeat previous Singles Two on Poly's team the most. They even declared war on her and betrayed her as as their former captain. More than beating the team as a whole, she wanted to win against the new team captain. That was impossible now until next time. Moreover, Jezebelle was powerless to argue against her Coach in regards to his decision to forfeit her match, which was the last one of the day. He didn't care anymore since they already won as a team. Did one more win really matter to him? However, Jezebelle felt cheated. Even though her wounds reopened, she was certain she would still

win. She was an athlete. She could endure the pain for an hour or so. Also, she was the one who made up the plan to land their win in the first place. The very least he could do was let her play her match fair and square. Thinking back on her childhood, Jezebelle tried to remember the last time she felt this defeated feeling. For as long as she could remember, she didn't lose when it came to anything really. If she challenged someone in anything, she knew she was going to win for sure. There was only one person she often lost to and that was it. That person was none other than her father. Her father. Jezebelle blinked against the darkness of her room. She didn't exactly hate or love him. All she remembered was how powerless she was against him. He controlled all aspects of her life back then. This was when she realized why she was so irritated in the first place. If this was a simple loss, she wouldn't be like this. No, it was more than that. It was not the losing that hurt her the most. It was the fact that Coach had more power than her and forced her to lose... exactly like her father. A sudden memory came to her at the thought of her childhood when she felt helpless to everyone around her. The location was the mall where Poly students liked to hang out on after school or on the weekends. Since she didn't have a real mother, her father would have one of her substitute mothers take her out to the mall to shop for clothes. Jezebelle was very fond of hats so she often went to that section of the department store to buy the ones she liked the best. There was something breathtaking about the way someone looked with the right combination of hat, hairstyle, and clothes. I like this hat, said Jezebelle, picking out a black and white hat and holding it high above her head. However, the substitute mother that was supposed to be with her was gone. Tessa? Wandering around that floor, Jezebelle searched for her substitute mother. There were so many other mother and daughter pairs walking around and picking clothes for one another. There were a lot of wife and husband pairs too with only one of the two happy to be here. There were groups of teenage girls chatting merrily and searching through brightcolored skirts. Once in a while, Jezebelle saw a mother at the jewelry area with a little boy her age to accompany her. Still, Jezebelle couldn't find Tessa. Even though Jezebelle had her own cell phone, Tessa didn't. Jezebelle couldn't call her substitute mother even when she wanted to. She didn't plan to though. She was confident she could find the woman in no time. How hard could it be to find a tall, skinny woman with a burn mark on her neck and obviously dyed red hair? Plus, she was wearing bright pink. With this in mind, Jezebelle continued on her search. When Jezebelle came to jeans, she noticed the dressing room nearby. There were a couple of men sitting by themselves in the provided seats with bored expressions on their face. Jezebelle went past them and poked her head in the dressing rooms. Tessa was carrying a furry white purse. This Jezebelle knew for sure since she was playing with it in the car. Looking below the doors, Jezebelle watched out for a furry white purse and white heels. Eventually, after checking below every day, Jezebelle figured that Tessa wasn't here. Look at that little girl, said one of the mothers to her daughter, watching Jezebelle. She's so cute. I'm cuter Mama! Of course you are. Jezebelle turned her eyes at them once before she left the dressing rooms. Their comments didn't bother Jezebelle since she was already used to them. The men who were waiting outside had their eyes on her. They reminded Jezebelle of the men who worked

under her father. With that in mind, Jezebelle beamed beautifully and went up to them, fearlessly. She talked to them and after their short conversation, she figured out that there were these these areas in the store where she could get information from. Excuse me, said Jezebelle, standing in front of the information desk. The lady moved her head back and forth, searching for the person talking to her. Jezebelle pouted and held the hat up high over her head to signal where she was. The lady had to place her stomach on the desk and lean over to see Jezebelle. She was so small in comparison to the counter. May I help you? asked the lady in a baby voice. Jezebelle frowned and thought about how this woman was treating her like a child when she wasn't one. Have you seen Tessa? What does Tessa look like? Tessa is... After Jezebelle described her substitute mother in detail, the information lady shook her head and said she hasn't seen anyone like that. Jezebelle rolled her eyes and thought about how useless this information desk was. If it were back at her father's work place, the information desk would have been able to locate anyone she asked anytime she wanted. In comparison, the people here weren't very useful at all. Before Jezebelle left, the woman asked, Would you like me to help you search for your mother? She's not my real mother, said Jezebelle blatantly in an annoyed voice. And even if she is, I should be able to find my own mother by myself, thank you very much. But you're so little. I'm six, said Jezebelle in correction, pouting. If I can walk, I can find her. Without listening to this woman any further, Jezebelle moved on with the hat still in her hands. She didn't like being looked down like that. Even though she should get used to it because of her appearance and age, she didn't like it. In comparison to most boys and girls her age, she considered herself a grown-up. Jezebelle shook her head. Actually, in comparison to many of her father's co-workers, she was already more mature. Age didn't equal maturity and Jezebelle knew this quite well. Do you need help, little girl? Wherever Jezebelle went, someone would ask her that. These grown-ups thought she was lost so they wanted to help her. Jezebelle denied all of them with an annoyed look on her face. She was not lost. Tessa was the one who was lost. She was the mature one who had to find Tessa before she get into trouble. Aside from that, Jezebelle felt insulted that they only wanted to help her because she was young and adorable. After ten minutes of wandering around, Jezebelle decided that she was being too childish. How could she walk around this huge place without any plan at all? When Jezebelle figured this out, she stopped at the corner and went straight. She was going to map the entire place in her head and searched each section until she find Tessa. I'm not lost, thought Jezebelle, keeping a close eye on every lady passing by her. I'm not scared of being by myself. I prefer it. Father has trained me all these years on how to be self-sufficient... to live without caring about other people's opinion except him. Jezebelle stopped in front of shoe area, watching women try on and off shoes. Tessa liked shoes so she often took Jezebelle shoe shopping for both of them. Even though Jezebelle didn't like shoes before because shoes meant she needed somewhere to go with them first which she rarely did without her father knowing, Jezebelle eventually became attached to them. She liked shoes because she liked shopping for them. She might not wear

them often but they were part of her outings. A reminder of the time when she wasn't so powerless at home. Eventually, Jezebelle realized she had searched the entire department store at least twice. She even tried different floors and in the end, the result was the same. Tessa was nowhere to be found. Logically, Jezebelle figured that it was impossible for her to travel this entire store for one hour straight without running into Tessa somehow if she was indeed in the same building. At last, Jezebelle found herself back in front of a pair of a hundred dollar shoes. There was an unmistakable feeling in her stomach. From the beginning, Jezebelle knew the truth when Tessa told her that this was going to be their best shopping trip yet. All this time, she told herself that Tessa was lost because she just didn't want to admit the truth. The reason why she couldn't find Tessa was because she was gone. ****************************************************** After Jazz Band, Kristian went to his locker and Rin went ahead to Spanish class like always. Even without saying anything, Kristian knew there was an awkward tension around them but he knew he didn't have to do anything really to resolve it. Usually, things work themselves out for the two of them by the end of the day. Once he was inside the classroom, Kristian watched as Rin interacted with Jordan from across the table again. Is this what she usually did before he came to first period? How long had this been going on? Kristian didn't say anything because he thought he would be a jealous and possessive boyfriend if he asked Rin not to do this anymore. It wasn't any of his business and Jordan wasn't really much of a treat. For one thing, Jordan slept over at Rin's house for a couple of days already and nothing happened between them. He didn't have to ask Rin since he could just tell from the way she acted whether something did happen or not. Everything was written on his face. So far, he hadn't seen any signs since two days ago when they supposedly 'broke up' in her head. I can move back in your house today then? asked Jordan with a pleasant smile. Kristian smiled back. Yeah. My guest's gone. Cool. Since I don't have my car, you don't mind taking me over to Nerd's house after work to pick up my luggage? Work? asked Rin curiously, blinking at Kristian. That's fine, said Kristian to Jordan before he turned his attention to Rin. I introduced Jordan to his workplace. I know where it is so I can pick him up afterward. Oh, said Rin, glancing at Jordan. What kind of work is it anyways? Why? thought Kristian to himself. You want to visit him? A server boy, said Jordan honestly to Rin. You deserve it, said Rin, smirking. It's quite fitting. Hey there, said Jordan, irritated. He stole a glance at the empty seat next to him where Cash usually sat at. That's just harsh. You know I'm better than that. Yeah, said Rin, rolling her eyes. Sure. How does Rin-chan know you're better than that? asked Kristian, unable to contain himself. Rin frowned at Kristian at his question. Wait a second. Kristian laughed it off. It's just a matter of speech, right Jordan? It is, said Jordan quickly. Are we really friends again Kristian? It was a horrible misunderstanding on my part, said Kristian, feeling like he was biting his own tongue. We'll always be friends, unless, Kristian shrugged innocently. You steal my girlfriend. Then, we'll talk. Kristian! cried Rin, angry.

I'm kidding, said Kristian in reassurance. I'm just being an ass for the fun of it. In the back of his head, Kristian kept telling himself that he was going to let it go and be good friends with Jordan again. They had been friends for years now. Before a couple of days ago, Kristian would have never suspected Jordan of being interested in Rin. They were too different. Jordan was popular. She was not. He was a jock. She was a nerd. They had been enemies for years. Currently however, Kristian knew something was different. One, Jordan wasn't popular anymore. Or at least, how he used to be. Two, Jordan and Rin started hanging out and became friends to the point that he would stay with her when Kristian himself left her to put an end to his relationship with Cammy. Three, Jordan was currently single and usually that didn't last for more than a couple of days at most. Tilly's absent, said Kristian, noticing Jin entering the room with his fans instead of Jezebelle. She's following our example and ditching. She's not feeling well, said Jordan, remembering what Jin said earlier. What a lame excuse, said Kristian, sitting back in his seat. She seems like the type of person who enjoys the attention, said Rin, glancing over at Jezebelle's table where Juliet and Alejandro sat alone. I don't see why she would ditch school. She might not be feeling well for some reason. Seeing that Jordan and Rin were in agreement, Kristian added, If that's so, I should visit her. We're not friends or anything but I do see her way too often for comfort. Kristian noticed Rin was slightly displeased since she said, But you're busy. I might as well visit her after I help Jordan. But it'll be late at night, said Rin, still dissatisfied. How do you know Jordan works late? asked Kristian, finding another excuse to pick on Rin. Again, Rin didn't know what to say. Chuckling at her reaction, Kristian said, I don't feel well today too. I should take the day off since my ditching doesn't really matter. No one cares whether I ditch or not. Feel better Kristian, said Jordan, frowning. Kristian tossed Jordan a weak smile. Thanks, Jordan. Kristian, said Rin in a lowered voice than before so that Jordan wasn't part of the conversation. What's wrong with you? Maybe Tilly and I are the same person and we catch each other's illnesses through some illogical method? asked Kristian in an almost sarcastic voice. There's nothing going on between Jordan and I, said Rin with a sigh. I believe you, said Kristian with a forced smile. I really do. No, you don't, said Rin, annoyed. If so, why would you make all those comments attacking Jordan? Because he is the reason we almost broke up, said Kristian in a careless tone like it was the easiest thing to say in the world. So I have some right to keep bringing it back up as a form of reminder. Well, said Rin, kicking Kristian underneath the table. The bell rang for the start of class. I don't like it so stop. I'm leaving after fourth period, said Kristian firmly. Fine, said Rin, pouting. Leave then. You're in such a bad mood right now that I'm slightly afraid of talking to you. Why? Because I'll rape you? At Kristian's half-joking comment, Rin stuck her tongue out at him. I'm going to say yes and expect a witty response from you.

No witty response, said Kristian, smirking now at her tone. Just that it's not rape if the other person's willing. Rin's face reddened quickly. And if I'm in a bad mood, rape is the last thing I think about around you. Truthfully and funnily enough, that's what I think about when I'm in a good mood. Rin narrowed her eyes. Kristian, you- I knew it, said Mr. Sanchez, appearing in between them. Rin jumped back while Kristian lifted his eyes quickly up at him. I suspected this from the very beginning but, Mr. Sanchez passed them both their quizes from the previous week. You two are dating. That's nonsense, said Kristian, smirking up at Mr. Sanchez. I'm just teasing her. Even though Mr. Sanchez looked like he wanted to ask them further about their relationship, he decided against it and went to the next paper to pass back their quizes. Rin hid her head against her arm on top of her desk. Even though the entire student population knew about her relationship, her teachers didn't. They were the last people Rin wanted to know about her and Kristian. Now that Mr. Sanchez knew, he was going to tell every other teacher. How was she supposed to face them now? This day gets worse by the minute, said Rin, muttering under her breath. Kristian sighed. You have no idea... Not only was Kristian in a bad mood, he had to pretend that Rin wasn't his girlfriend by not leaving the room with her after class because Mr. Sanchez was watching them closely. For break, he couldn't hang out with her because she said she didn't want to. For lunch time, he decided to ditch school for the rest of the day because he said he would and he wasn't going to take back his words. After school, he had work and Jezebelle to visit. And now, for passing time, he couldn't walk with her because she didn't want her teachers to know about them. Why couldn't they be a real couple ever? Kristian! Wait up! On his walk to second period without Rin, Kristian heard a familiar voice and turned around, only to meet Jennifer. Hey Jen. What's up? Jennifer clapped her hands together and dropped her head in pleading. Please talk to Eunice for me, Kristian? Eunice Hong? asked Kristian, running through a mental list of girls in his grade until he landed on a girl who tied her short hair up with ribbons. Yes. Eunice. Why? Please, said Jennifer in repetition with a hurt look on her face. I beg of you. I don't have any classes with Eunice I don't think, said Kristian with a helpless expression on his face. He had perfect memory of all his classmates in every one of his classes so he wouldn't have missed someone like her. How can I talk to her then? I'll arrange you to meet with her during nutrient, said Jennifer, still keeping her head bowed. So please talk to her for me. But still, why me? Because, said Jennifer, shaking from top to bottom. It's all my fault she's like this! Kristian shook his head, not understanding. It doesn't matter! You're the only one who can cheer her up so please do it! I'll do anything if you do this for me! Jen, said Kristian, lifting her head up smoothly. I'll do it so cheer up. Be perky and skip around like you always do. You know I can't say no to helping girls. Jennifer cheered up immediately and created a heart for Kristian. Thank you Kristian! I'll send you a text message later! You do that, said Kristian, entering his building. Later then. After Jennifer skipped off, Kristian thought about Tiffany. What's going on with your group, Tiffy Taffy? You're so hopeless. Kristian smirked to himself at the thought of what had happened in the

past. I'm always getting myself involved with the Asian Gossip Girls somehow... *********************************************************** Chatting with the boys from the Pimp Juice group during nutrient, Wendy noticed that they became quite attached to her. Wendy thought about how strange things have changed between her and them ever since she and Cash got together. Before, she used to get along with them for the sake of them being part of the Wilson basketball team, but she never really liked them. Now though, Wendy got to know them better and thought they were decent boys. Wendy, said Jin, approaching her from behind. Jin Song, said Wendy, surprised at the sight of him. What are you doing here? Jin grabbed Wendy's arm and dragged her along with him. I need your help. You need my help? asked Wendy, surprised. She waved at Cash and the others. Oh man! When did that happen? It's usually the other way around. Juliet and Lolita need you, said Jin, sighing and looking straight ahead. It seems like they're dependent on Fi for telling them what to do with everything. Wendy shook her head. So now they're not sure what to do without her. And she did this behind my back too, said Wendy, annoyed. Jin laughed weakly and scratched the back of his head. I can't really be Fi's replacement and they're asking me to be it. Wait a second, said Wendy, gasping at Jin's implication. I have to be Fi, I mean Jezebelle's replacement? Jin nodded shyly. I'm not a selfish, heartless bitch! I can't cruelly tell them what to do to make the right choices in class and in life. Why me? I don't know who else to ask, said Jin sadly. Wendy reddened at Jin's sad face. Oh man! Why do you have to make such a face? Wendy punched her arm to snap herself out of it. Since it's you, Jin Song, I'll do it. At the very least, I impersonate Jezebelle behind her back all the time for fun so I should be able to pull it off. Wendy closed her eyes and then muttered in a meaner tone, I don't give a damn whether you like him or not. If you like him, just fucking say it or else I'll say it for you. I mean, I am much prettier than you are. Jin laughed at Wendy's impersonation. You almost got it, Wendy. What am I missing? asked Wendy, devastated. You forgot to roll your eyes or throw your hair back in a very Fi-like manner, said Jin, amused. My hair's short so roll my eyes it is. Jin released another heavy sigh. I owe you one Wendy and I'm about to owe you again for asking you to check up on Fi after school with me. I plan to visit her anyways, said Wendy with a nod. Right when Wendy left Jin's side to talk to Xuan Lan and Juliet, Jin was surrounded by his fans, asking him about relationship questions and other questions Jin did not understand. They were expecting him to know how to ask a boy out or how to have better skin? He was a boy so he didn't know to ask a boy out. Actually, he didn't even know how to ask a girl out. As for skin, Jin grew up with perfect skin so he had no idea what girls did to take care of theirs. Jezebelle used a bunch of cream or wash or something at night and in the morning that Jin could not name right now without her. This was when Jin realized that Jezebelle was the one who usually answered these questions for them ever since he became this popular. Jin, said Bo, pushing through the crowds of girls. He had this bright grin on his face. I heard the news about Fi not feeling well and staying home from school so I want to

see how you're doing by yourself. Save me, said Jin with a begging expression on his face to Bo. Jin, said one of the girls. What should I do? My boyfriend keeps asking for sex but I'm not sure I support pre-marital sex. I want to know whether perfume really turn boys on or not. Do boys really care for a girl's personality or is it all about looks? Not very well I see, said Bo, rubbing his chin. Jin nodded, trying hard to calm the girls down around him. No worries, Jin my bud. Even though we're not besties anymore, I will help you out this once from the goodness of my knightly heart! Bo, just do it, said Jin, escaping from behind Bo. Thank you so much. Ladies, ladies, said Bo, stopping them from chasing after Jin. This is what Jin wants me to tell you all. Every boy cares about sex. Those who says otherwise are either lying or gay. Next, your boyfriend can be conditioned to be turned on by your perfume but he can be just as turned on by anything else of yours if he likes you enough. And about that personality issue, boys only look past looks when it really matters. As Bo went on, Jin hid behind a building and took out his cell phone. Jin stared at Jezebelle's cell phone number for a long time before he decided not to call her and that he would come immediately to her side once school was over. He didn't have to do team manager duties for this week so he was free then. Wait for me until then, Fi, said Jin, closing his eyes. I'll find out why you're like this no matter what. **************************************************** Sitting in the yearbook room by herself, Eunice was uploading the pictures off her digital camera and onto the school's computer. When it came to the school's computer, Eunice made sure to not delete the copies on her camera since she would like some of the photos on her own computer at home. But since she was not allowed to use the computer, she had to use the one here to upload them online and then download them later. Knock knock, said Kristian, coming in the room with a dazzling smile on his face. Eunice fumbled with her camera and hid it behind the monitor at the sight of him. Some girls from the yearbook committee said that if I wanted to know whether I'll have a photo or two of myself in the upcoming yearbook, I had to come talk to you. Hello Kristian! squeaked Eunice, reddening quickly. Kristian closed the door and leaned against the nearest wall. So you're in charge of taking pictures for the yearbook, Eunice. I never knew. It's nothing that big really, said Eunice, nervous. Doesn't it suck that we don't see each other much since we have like zero classes together? asked Kristian, licking his dry lips. We used to have math together. We did? Eunice bobbed her head until she stopped and frowned, Until you switched to the higher math class... Oops, said Kristian, making his way to her. Soon, he stood in front of her. You don't happen to have a couple of my pictures for the yearbook on you, do you? I do... said Eunice, blushing even more. This was the longest she had ever spoken with Kristian before. For the past couple of years, she usually watched and laughed at his jokes but that was about it. This year, she managed to run into him several times after school early in the school year. Every time, he seemed to save her from her own clumsiness. Maybe she liked him for a long time but this

was the year that she knew for sure she had feelings for him. For her to be in the same classroom as him by themselves was like a dream come true for her, though she wasn't sure what to say or do exactly. After all, Kristian was already dating Rin so all her dreams of him returning her feelings had disappeared. Hurriedly, Eunice went over to her backpack lying against one of the desk and took out a vanilla folder. This was where she kept all the extra Kristian pictures she had taken this year. Even though she had too many pictures of him to count, Eunice told herself to only show him a couple since she didn't want to be seen as a stalker. Blushing at the thought, Eunice remembered hiding near his house before just to see him leave for school a couple of weeks ago. She felt embarrassed about it but she really did want to take the best pictures of him. In her opinion, the best pictures were those that were not staged and she liked to keep those of natural Kristian for herself. Here they are, said Eunice, taking a handful out of her folder and running over to him. I took a couple of these pictures in class when you weren't looking so- Right then, Eunice stumbled over the chair in front of the computer. At that split second, Eunice cursed inwardly at herself for being clumsy yet again. All his pictures were scattered all over the ground. However, she herself was held up by his hands. He moved quickly and caught her arms in time. In midair, Eunice blushed further at the sight of Kristian holding her up by the arms. It was such an awkward position. She always dreamed of him catching her from behind or holding her against his chest like those manga. Instead, they were separated by one chair in between them with both his hands on her arms, stopping her from falling over. How does this work? asked Eunice under her breath. I'm going to let go, Eunice, said Kristian in a serious tone. You just have to stand up straight. Got it? Yes. Once Kristian released her, Eunice straightened her back and watched as he bent over to pick up the pictures all over the ground. Eunice gasped and went around the chair to help him. Even though she had been feeling terrible all day yesterday and early this morning, all of her worries seemed to disappear just by being near him. Eunice knew it was hopeless to keep these lingering feelings but she didn't know what to do. At this close angle, Kristian looked even cooler than far away where she followed him constantly in the first week or so. Wow, said Kristian, staring at one of the photos he picked up. Did you really take this photograph yourself Eunice? Eunice nodded her head frantically. Yes! It's awful isn't it? Hell no, said Kristian, handing it to her with a smile. You're really good. I am? I never knew I made such a face before, said Kristian, glancing at the photo in his hands once. Do you remember the context of this photograph? At Kristian's question, Eunice accepted the photograph and examined at it closely. It was a picture of Kristian sitting next to Cory and Gary near the library. There was a distant yet thoughtful expression on his face. His lips were curled downwards as if he wasn't sure about something. Eunice smiled softly at herself. It was that day Nathan sang awful love songs to Rin Hamada, said Eunice at last. That day, said Kristian, amused. He handed her the rest of the photographs with a sweet smile on his face. Last week then. Yes, this batch is from last week.

Kristian observed Eunice's face for a few seconds before he said, You're more serious now than you usually are. Really? asked Eunice, amazed. You're always so hyper, said Kristian, lowering his eyes at the pictures in her hands. And jumpy! And by God, you can really hop in your seat. Eunice blushed. He noticed these things about her. But right now, you're so serious and calm. Yeah, said Eunice, unable to say much. You must have a lot on your mind. I do. Helping himself up with the support of the chair, Kristian looked down at her and held out his hand. You okay, Eunice? Eunice grabbed onto his hand before she said, I'm okay. I think. Your friends are worried about you though, said Kristian, watching Eunice sat back down with the pictures held against her chest. They must have a reason. Friends are good at picking these things up. They know me well, said Eunice, frowning. Too well. They're good friends then. They are, said Eunice with a reassuring smile. Kristian returned the smile. Sometimes, when I'm bummed out, it's best to talk it out with someone. I know girls like those types of things. Blushing, Eunice glanced away. But I don't want to bother them. They're mad at each other right now and I don't want to give them any more reason to argue. You can tell me, said Kristian, holding his finger up to her. I won't tell anyone. I don't know about that... If you don't want to, said Kristian, shrugging. It's understandable. We don't know each other that well. Eunice wanted to say something along the lines of her knowing him better than he assumed but she kept her thoughts to herself. But I do like Eunice better when she's happy if that's any reassurance. Well, said Eunice, touched that he cared so much. Is there anything you're passionate about? So passionate that you're willing to give up everything else for it? Kristian blinked at her question. Yes, there are. There are? Nodding, Kristian continued, My parents both work for the government so maybe that's where I get this idea that I want to join the Marines or Navy in the future. If I can't get into either of those two, I'll settle for joining the army for the sake of my country. That's so great, said Eunice in an emotional voice. If there's a war, said Kristian with a wide smile. I'll be one of the firsts to volunteer and fight. So manly, said Eunice accidentally. Then, she gasped and covered her mouth. I didn't mean to say that out loud! Kristian laughed at her. Manliness comes in all shapes and forms, Eunice. I know... said Eunice, blushing. She calmed down and continued, So, you're willing to sacrifice everything for your dreams Kristian? Not exactly, said Kristian, frowning. Not exactly? You see, Eunice, said Kristian, leaning against the table now. Life's unpredictable. You can't really say you'll do something and know one hundred percent you'll be able to do it. Eunice nodded, unable to think of anything productive to say. You have to be flexible

when it comes to these things. For example? asked Eunice curiously. For example, said Kristian, looking around the room for help. When he landed his eyes on the anime wallpaper on the computer screen, he continued, If say Rin-chan is pregnant with my child and she doesn't want an abortion, Kristian paused, noticing the surprise on Eunice's face. I would have to change my whole life's plans to make room for our family. I can't just tell her that I love to help my country so much that I'll leave her behind if you get what I mean. Yes... I'm sure whatever your passions are, Eunice, said Kristian with a reassuring smile. You'll do fine. While Kristian watched and helped her out with rearranging the pictures on the computer as well as picking which pictures of himself he liked best, Eunice thought to herself what he said. Eunice had always had a passion for photography. She enjoyed taking pictures of everything from landscape to people. Kristian was one of her favorite subjects so she had a collection on him. Ever since she told her parents about her love for photography and her plans to pursue it in college, her parents had been against everything she did and everyone she interacted with because they were against her goals in general. First of all, they believed that Tiffany, Jennifer, and all her classmates were a bad influence on her so she took away any forms of communication she had. Second, they were forcing her to attend college and university tours on the weekends to change her mind. For them, she was either going to be a lawyer or a doctor. There were no other options left for her, especially not photography which they thought was a waste of time. Eunice did not consider herself a disobedient or obedient daughter. Sometimes, she listened to her parents. Other times, she did the complete opposite. This time though, since they were so firm that she could not succeed as a photographer, Eunice had been rebelling back on everything. If they wanted her home by five, she was going to come home late. If they wanted her to study harder, she was going to slack off. A photographer? Are you stupid? You can't succeed like that. Since they said that line, Eunice knew she could never get along with her parents again. They dismissed her dreams as something stupid. They disregarded her feelings to pursue her dreams. They showed no sign of encouragement for what she believed to be her gift. That was enough for Eunice to completely change her attitude toward them. They didn't even listen to her explanations or take a look at her photography! At the moment, Eunice fought back every day to change their mind. In the back of her head, she knew it was impossible though. However, once it came down to it senior year, if she had to choose between giving up her dreams and attending university or going to photography school off students loans, she would choose the latter. Her decision had been this for the past week. But after her conversation with Kristian, Eunice thought about her decision. She loved her parents, even if they were not supportive of her in anything she did. If she were to pursue photography, they would probably never speak to her again. She would be kicked out of the family. This was the last thing Eunice wanted since she wanted to keep in contact with her parents even after she turned eighteen. Was photography worth losing her family for? Eunice? asked Kristian, gaping. Are you... crying? Eunice snapped back to reality and wiped her tears away quickly. No! I'm sorry!

Did I say something wrong? asked Kristian carefully, frowning. No, it's not you, said Eunice, stuttering. He saw her cry. The boy she liked saw her cry! She wanted to melt into the ground and vanish. I'm fine! Really! Girls and their inability to express themselves, said Kristian, shaking his head. Eunice lowered her eyes. Kristian... Yes? Does your parents approve everything you do? Kristian thought about it. My parents are pretty chill. As long as I take care of my cousin, I can do whatever I want. They're pretty open-minded on most things. My parents aren't like that, said Eunice under her breath. Your parents are strict? asked Kristian, trying out a safe guess. Eunice nodded weakly. Yes. They don't believe I can succeed with photography. Oh, you want to be a photography, Eunice? Yes, I do! That's pretty amazing, said Kristian in awe, receiving a stunned look from Eunice. I mean, it's a pure art form, like being a painter or a musician. It's risky and exciting. It suits you, Eunice. Blushing, Eunice tried to recover and said, My parents want me to take the sure path by going to university, graduating with a major, and working right after. That's one way to do it, said Kristian with a nod. Am I wrong then? asked Eunice sadly. Kristian shook his head. No, you're not. If it's the right path, everyone would do it and we wouldn't have such prodigies in fields like music or acting. There are so many paths you can take to succeed in life, but of course, this is coming from someone who plans to enlist in the military right after high school. I can become a photographer then? I can't answer that question for you, said Kristian, amused. Your parents only know of one path to succeed after high school and they want you to take that path. That is their mindset and you have your own. There's no use bickering about who is wrong or right since it will just go around in circles. Well, said Eunice in a tired voice. I still don't know whether I should attend photography school after high school or not. Think of it this way, said Kristian, relaxing against the table. You have one more year to make your decision. Use that time and think things through. You may end up agreeing with your parents by then or you may end up sticking to what you believe now. Okay then... Right then, the bell rang for the end of nutrient. Kristian told Eunice he was glad that he could talk to her and help her feel more at ease about her situation. Leaving her side, Kristian went over to pick up his backpack. Eunice quickly closed the computer and did the same. Thanks Kristian, said Eunice once she had her backpack over her shoulder. No problem, said Kristian with an enthusiastic smile. I'm glad I can help. I know this is sudden but, said Eunice, flushing bright red and feeling her rapid heartbeat. May I hug you? To thank you? Heck, sure why not? Even though Kristian expected a light hug from Eunice, she embraced him tightly. Kristian was surprised by her shaking body, but he didn't say anything. Even though a minute had passed since she hugged him, she didn't release him or say anything. Feeling awkward,

Kristian thought he should say something. Eunice. Yes? Kristian sighed. I'm actually a horrible person. At last, Eunice released him and gasped. What do you mean? I hate women, said Kristian in a lowered tone. Eunice's eyes widened dramatically. I really hate women. I only help you and other girls out for pure selfish reasons. Kristian petted her on the head lightly. So forget about me. I'm not worth your time. Kristian... said Eunice, slightly frightened. You're not a horrible person! No, really, I am. No! cried Eunice firmly. You're not! A horrible person wouldn't have helped me out earlier! You're kind and supportive and cool and awesome! Eunice knew she was rambling but she didn't care. You really are the best. Kristian tossed Eunice a sad smile. You're so innocent like all those other girls I dated. You really are my type. Eunice blushed and glanced away. Unfortunately, every girl I touched has been corrupted beyond compare so, Kristian rubbed her head again before he opened the door. You should stay away from me emotionally. See you later then, Eunice, and hope you figure out what to do with your life. After Kristian left, Eunice dropped down to her knees and stared at the closed door in front of her. Now, I know for sure. You're the one who needs help, not me. ******************************************************** Still on top of her bed, Jezebelle did not know how long time had passed since she laid here with her teddy bear. It was exactly like that time in the mall back then. Jezebelle refused to check the time on her cell phone since she kept telling herself that once she knew how long she wandered endlessly in search of someone, she would become discouraged and gave up completely. She didn't want to give up though. Jezebelle Phoebe Tilly wasn't the type of person who would lose. And therefore, she would keep on walking around no matter whether Tessa was still there or not. It was better to remain lost forever than to give up and lose. I told you I can unlock doors. I am the daughter of a cop after all. But aren't police officers supposed to enforce the rules, not break them? Shut up Jin Song! You know what I mean! Oh right. You used to be in a gang... Hearing their voices, Jezebelle didn't bother to face either Jin or Wendy. One of them turned on the lights. Jezebelle still did not budge. Right now, she felt lost like she did back then. She didn't need help from anyone. She was fully capable of finding her all by herself. Yes, she was going to win this hide and seek game. As long as she didn't give up hope, she was going to win. What the fuck? cried Wendy loudly. While Jezebelle kept to herself, Jin lifted her up slightly and placed her head against his chest to check up on her. She didn't move or say anything to him at all. He was expecting her to scream at him like she did this morning but nothing. Instead, he saw that she was awake and staring ahead instead of at him. As for Wendy, she was the one who removed the teddy bear from Jezebelle's grasp. It was hard since Jezebelle refused to let go of it but Wendy managed in the end. What's wrong Wendy? asked Jin, concerned. Blood, said Wendy, showing the red liquid dripping off part of the teddy bear. Jin almost felt faint at the sight. Wendy glanced at the bed quickly. There's blood all over the

sheets too, Jin Song. Did her wounds reopen? asked Jin, pulling down Jezebelle's neckline to check. Her new bandages were still there. It doesn't look like her wounds reopen so where is the blood coming from? I know where, said Wendy, kneeling on the bed next to Jin now. She's... Wendy frowned. She's on her period. What do I do? asked Jin, panicking. Where's Mom? She already left, said Jezebelle suddenly, shocking both Wendy and Jin. Jezebelle didn't move anything but her lips. She knocked on my door and told me that the hospital wanted her to work earlier today. Oh no, said Jin, shaking. What is that thing women use again? Do we even have any at home? Jin shook his head now, trying to sound calm. We must. Mom's female. She must use them too. We can buy them if necessary, said Wendy, patting Jin on the back in a comforting manner. I'll buy them. Wendy, said Jezebelle, turning her head to look at Wendy. The other girl stopped in her tracks from leaving at Jezebelle's call. When did you get your period? Why are you asking me something like that? asked Wendy, gasping. Jezebelle smirked. I got mine when I was six. That same day, all the ladies who worked under Father to take care of me left. I wondered whether they left because of what happened to me or because Father asked them to leave. Jezebelle stopped because she felt excruciating pain in the lower half of her body. On the outside, she didn't show it though. They left me all alone in that stupid place for whatever reason. I didn't care though. I had to remain calm and find my way back home. Jezebelle closed her eyes and tried to ignore the pain. I was lost for hours and yet he didn't care all that much... Fi, said Jin, breaking through Jezebelle's words. I'll find you no matter what. Jin Song? asked Wendy, surprised at him. Jin pressed Jezebelle against him and muttered, No matter how lost you are, I'll find you. I'll never ever let you find me. I promise. I'll always be there for you. Until Father comes back? asked Jezebelle, laughing evilly at the thought. Shaking his head, Jin answered, Even if he comes back, I'll make sure to always find you if you're ever lost again. I swear on it. I'm never going to be that stupid again, said Jezebelle, rolling her eyes and sitting up straight now. Wendy and Jin watched her with close attention. I don't need anyone to find me. I don't need to find anyone either. Because I'm never going to lose again. Even though Jezebelle said that, she felt powerless again. This time, it wasn't because of her Coach or her father. It was because of this pain in her body that she couldn't fight against. This pain that came once a month for four horrible days. No matter how hard she tried not to show it, she was in such much pain that she had to lay back down, away from Jin, and roll over. The pain still didn't go away. She accidentally let out a cry, which made both Wendy and Jin shake her. It hurts, said Jezebelle under her breath. It hurts so fucking much. While Jezebelle sat there in front of the shoes for a short break before she went around the store for the third time to find Tessa, Jin went up to her, grabbed her hand, and squeezed it with a bright smile on his face. Fi, I'm here, said Jin, pulling her up carefully. Everything's going to be all right. You don't have to find your way home by yourself anymore. I'm here for you now. Hand in hand, the tiny girl in her dainty black dress and black slippers with the black

and white hat she picked at the beginning walked home next to a boy who wasn't wearing white heels or a pink outfit, but was the person she was looking for all this time.
