SYSTEM SUPPORT ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION

Overall operating of the CDN Service and associated equipment. Provisioning, diagnostics and service restoration on the CDN platform. Production and maintenance of the CDN equipment/network and implement new customers and services. Provisioning and fault management activities on Orange Business Services Network Tools and systems

Support the implementation of the new CDN projects:


Study and validate the new CDN engineering plans for each project. Schedule and coordinate the commissioning of new equipments. Perform the provisioning, Installation and configuration of new equipment (CDN servers, Qos robots, Log analyzers, switches DNS updates, server preparation, servers IP connectivity, CDN node set up, IT updates etc). Configuration of management and monitoring tools. Ensure the transfer of knowledge of projects and provide training and documentation information for the level 1team and other operational teams as required. Coordination with adjacent domains,( IP, engineering , IPTAC, etc) to control security, interactions and dependencies. Ensure reporting and communication as required throughout the projects.

Technical support to the operational teams:


Support and trouble shooing proactive and reactive incidents for all CDN services and platforms. Level 2/3 diagnostics and repair of the CDN service and equipment. Identify, analyze problems and propose short and long term solutions to resolve and avoid future issues. Implementation of the configuration for customers. Implementation and configuration of CDN equipment and resources as defined in engineering plans. Data base updating for CDN resources. Provisioning of CDN Services and equipment Following the Quality of Service (QoS) for service and equipment Follow up with vendor for service requests relating to bugs and complex issues. Management of faulty equipment repair, return & replacement. Hardware and software upgrades for all CDN platforms. To provide Level 2 Technical support on various tools and systems like DNS , SMTP relay , NNTP relay , DHCP,TACACs, Big Brother etc To provide provisioning and fault management support for Internet Direct DNS , SMTP , Equant Internal Network DNS , DHCP , IP VPN DNS , Async56K DNS , TACACS AAA customers

To devise and implement UNIX , PERL based scripts to automate regular services on application servers To generate Technical Incident Reports for major system related incidents and problems

Skills Required: Experience in Network & Server deployment Broad knowledge of various network equipment ( Switches, Routers, servers). Good knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, PBR, BGP, DNS etc). Strong knowledge of Unix/ Linux system.

Educational Qualification and Certification: B.E./B.Tech (Electronics & Telecomm/Computer Science/IT) Or Diploma with equivalent experience. RHCE will be an added advantage. Experience: Minimum 4years technical support experience on Unix/Linux platforms with special exposure to CDN, DNS , DHCP, SMTP and TACACs services Language: Good English oral and written skills required. Other competencies: Ability to work in a multi cultural environment. Ability to analyze and propose solutions. Team working. On call requirement. Attention to detail and documentation.
