Professional Experience
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA 2010-Present Research Fellow Designs and performs experiments. Writes research protocols as well as lab standard operating procedures. Prepares manuscripts for publication in scientific journals. Characterizes new functions of the protein 4.1R, a tumor suppressor protein, allowing for more effective treatments of meningioma. Determines the new mechanism of protein 4.1R, whose deficiency is associated with hemolytic anemia, in regulating distribution of protein Numb during erythroid differentiation to determine better ways to control hemolytic anemia. Trains graduate students in molecular biology and cell culture techniques increasing understanding of concepts. Research abstract was selected for an oral presentation at the Red Cells Gordon Research Conference of 2013. University of Massachusetts Amherst, Amherst, MA 2008-2010 Postdoctoral Research Fellow Designed and performed experiments. Prepared manuscripts for publication in scientific journals and worked with the supervisor to prepare figures and edit proposals. Trained and coached graduate students in molecular biology and cell culture techniques. Developed a much more efficient, generic and scalable approach for bacterial artificial chromosomebased transgenesis in mammalian tissue culture cells. Characterized the dynamics of oncoprotein TPX2 and determined the new mechanism of the protein in regulating protein Eg5, which improved understanding of how TPX2 is regulated during cell division to develop better treatments of controlling tumor. Research results were published in 4 top scientific journals.
