FROM THE PASTORS DESK

SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY BODY & BLOOD CORPUS CHRISTIIn the reading from the Gospel according to Luke, the Twelve have five loaves and two fish and so they tell Jesus to send the crowds away to find their own lodging and food. Jesus, however, wishes to do otherwise. Earlier, Jesus had instructed the Twelve for their mission saying, Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic (Luke 9:3). Todays feast is about an impossible task becoming possible - through Christ. Today we celebrate with great joy the gift of the Eucharist. Jesus by giving us his Body and Blood, gave us the possibility of new life. We also welcome to the Altar today for their first time: Brady Bishop, Jaxon Carroll, Matthew Fitzgerald, Daycen Greencorn, Ava Purcell, and Jack Wotton . This is a beautiful gift that now each Sunday these children will be nourished by the Body and Blood of Christ - the gift of the Eucharist to draw them ever more closely to follow the Lord. This is not about a one time event, but rather, stemming from Baptism the flow of the Sacraments to keep each of us connected to Jesus in our Faith. We will never be wanting if we choose in faith to be followers of Christ. During this Year of Faith may we take some time to learn more about the powerful gift we have in the Eucharist - the Source and Summit of our Faith.

and Divinity of our Lord - our belief in the Real Presence - we will have a special procession with the Eucharist. Following Mass, those who are able to walk with us will follow the Blessed Sacrament in procession, leaving the Church and going down Robie Street, onto Lady Hammond Road and back up around High Street back to the front steps of the Church for Benediction. This procession is a concrete demonstration of what we believe about the Eucharist, that we need to show the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament to the world - bringing Jesus to the world - literally.

Sacred Heart of Jesus means the Person of Christ with special emphasis on His love symbolized by His Heart. Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus can best be described by what it is in fact - Jesus Christ, loving us with all His Heart! The biblical description of heart is referenced as the rich, inner core of our being where we make decisions, experience emotions and where we pray to God. Blessed Pope John Paul II has spoken more on the Heart of Jesus than any other pope. A statement that Blessed pope John Paul II made in June of 1982, demonstrates that he understood the Heart of Jesus in the biblical sense: The heart, which is the central organ of Christs human organism, is at the same time the true symbol of His interior life: His thoughts, His will, His sentiments. Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have Mercy on Us!!!!

HOLY FATHERS PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR JUNE That a culture of dialogue,

listening, and mutual respect may prevail among peoples His mission intention is: That where secularization is strongest, Christian communities may effectively promote a new evangelization. Let us join our Holy Father in these daily prayer intentions.

THE SEVEN PILLARS OF THE CATHOLIC SPIRITUALITY This week we reflect on the seventh pillar of Catholic Spirituality - The Rosary. We have just moved out of the month of May, a month traditionally dedicated to our

Blessed Mother Mary. Her role in Catholic Spirituality is essentially described very simply in the following words Through Mary, to Jesus. The rosary is in essence a powerful story about the life of Jesus Christ. Matthew Kelly summarizes this beautifully, There is no more powerful story than that of Jesus Christ. This is the story that has

formed and focused human history, and it is essential to our mission as Christians that we are intimately familiar with it. The rosary helps us to know his story and teaches us to integrate it into our own lives.
