I disagree with what the The new york civil liberties union determined after they lauched thier

investigation. I remember in highschool when there was a gun treat the school security guards the next day patted the students down at the entrance. Even though it consumed sometime i understood that it was for my safety. There have been incidents at certain highschool where weapons were bought into the building, we need t have schools safe. Its not targeting or removing specific race or ethnic backgrond. Miners have been able to acesses weapons easily and differences between young adults occur in schools. but in the other hand i do agree because at bayside highschool which is located in bayside the area is a large asain population that school does not have permamnant metal detectors where as andrew jackson highschool located in queens where population is morstly african american theat school has a permanant metal detector. "Permanent metal detectors are targeted at schools that are disproportionately large, overcrowded, and serving low-income youth". My friend attended and she always complained about the line at the entrance with removing belts and cellphone so that the detector doesnt go off. But since that school is known to be problesome i could understnad why this is done. theres no need for police inside of the schools that can bring fear and a sense of intimidation on the children remember that these kids are only about 14-15 yrs of age when they enter highschool. So the permanant metal detectors are okay but the use of officer in school can be reduced to school security guards instead. some people argue that presence of police officers would actually prevent students from acting up and go to class and do the right thing but according to page 3 of the article it increases adolesent arrest and the loss of time in school. This article has shifted my view even more on why schools should not be equipt with police officers because i was in the middle and didnt think it is a bad idea but i didnt really like the idea. The article depicts the theme of a specific race being removed from school in a non obvious way and the system the skwed on how it goes after african americans and latinos and those with a low economic background because they are predistened to fail and to end up in jail juvy or military. There are labels preattached to these individuals and sanctions are placed to remove without much reason. school funds are taken out of state hands given to the public hands and tehy decide where the money goes and is spent on. they turns away the schools where the community is of a certain race and economical background thus these schools lack credientialzed teachers, lack material needed to learn, are high in substitue teachers, harzordous conditions such as the building in need of renvations etc. This is another way race is being dispossesed by mis education. They are not providing those communities with essential tools needed to succed so in effect there chances of dropping out or failing are increased. pg5. The enviroment of the school has an impact the the students that attened. If i were to attened a school that did not care about my own education at some poin id begin to feel as if its worthless to even try. If the school is "dirty" the message it send to these students is that your not worth in coming into a clean enviromemt and to get a quality eductation. pg 6 quote from roger

the exit exammination was input in 26 states and denied a student who did not pass a diploma. That isnt fair because these studnets werent getting the proper or same education as other students in the different communites in that state. states that have more black latinos and than whites are the ones that have implememted an exit exam requirement. They were not provided the right resources to take the exam. state spending more on prison than on education!!! so if they cant pass this they more liekely give up and drop out. instead of implementing exit exams they should get together and make a better learning curriculum and more reseources. they just putt all the blame on the students inablility to pass the exam.

not getting h.s diploma has economical, health criminal justice and consequences. the system places whites at an advantage
